Mr Tee:

Let's not forget Ballad of Mott or even Saturday Gigs from MTH. Also corndog though it may be, Come Hear the Band by April Wine fits the bill. And this one doesn't rely on a clanking fire bell.

P-90:

Thinking it’s maybe a shame the Banana Splits never did one of these “origin story” songs. You know, about how the boys met up, found their style and developed their act, got the deal with the Kroffts... the “behind the scenes” narrative: personal ups and downs, internal rivalries and tensions, etc.

You guys have guessed all of my songs! Stay tuned, Mr. Tee.

@ Joe McG - Indeed, I think they add a present participle starting with f when they call themselves corndogs, don't they? You're thinking on your feet on air.

@Greg the jungle room is fun, there were old movie trailers sprinkled among the music when I listened to the stream.

Jello Biafra's "Buy My Snake Oil" almost fits, but it's less about his past and more about his hypothetical future.

Eric Burdon. Funny and self deprecating.

Mr Tee:

nice! I love this feature and have been meaning to chime in before. Now that you've already played something unsuitable to the FMUmasses (George T), maybe you can double down with something never before heard on the station I'd wager: Gabriel-era Genesis! When you're just doing plain stories, or more specifically, demigod origin myth story-songs, Fountain of Salamacis will cover that theme like a wet toga!

Songs or album titles by bands that announce the band's name. Hey Hey it's the Monkee's, We are Devo. Or fictitious bands, Sgt. Peppers, Bennie and Jets, Sultans of Swing etc.. discuss

SF Bay Area is a hub for bands with extensive and indulgent mythologies. An especially special one was the 70's-retro-pop-art-cheeseball band Enrique, with their origin song, "The Band in the Plastic Bubble."
