Elastica ripping off Wire was overrated. They nicked the bass line. Lots of songs rip off bass lines. This one was simple and obvious, so everyone knows this. I fucking love Wire, but I hate the fact that Wire gets used to tear down Elastica.

Hey someone count tracks for me so I can figure out what this is when Sinead back announces

(or guitar line. the “bom. bom bom, bom, bom. bom bom, bom, bom.)

Sigh I missed it. Rusty skills. Well, great show, Sinead!
  Wed. 11/21/18 12:49am opurt:

Great show! Why is this reminding me of the old days listening to Brave New Waves on the CBC?
  Wed. 11/21/18 1:06am jasper:

I loved Brave New Waves with Brent Bambury! Are there archives somewhere? That show was a great musical education.
  Wed. 11/21/18 1:09am opurt:

Jasper, I'll have to do more googling - so far I have found networkeffects.ca...
I also have a few shows recorded to VHS tape (due to the long show time) that I hope I still have somewhere in the garage. I also miss Night Lines :-(
  Wed. 11/21/18 1:13am opurt:

Also try a youtube search for "Brave New Waves CBC" for some gems. A huge thanks to Sinead for bringing back these memories....
  Wed. 11/21/18 1:21am RomanDogBird:

YOU HOBO HUMPIN' SLOBO BABE!!!
  Wed. 11/21/18 1:23am jasper:

Thanks for the leads, opurt! I had been contemplating writing to Mr Bambury to inquire but I'm assuming the reason it's not available is due to licencing. Tis a real shame as the profiles and deep dives were great then and even more crucial now so great bands are remembered.

I think Sinead is reminding me of 6Music and the polished presenters there. Methinks Marcel found a ringer and she's had plenty of on-air experience in spite of not working the FMU Accuplaylist.
  Wed. 11/21/18 1:33am Ike:

Welcome, Sinead!
  Wed. 11/21/18 1:41am opurt:

Jasper, checking with some of my friends up north for other sources.... I also agree 100% with Sinead having plenty of on-air experience. Absolutely incredible show!
Avatar Wed. 11/21/18 2:55am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Sinead, it was just a fantastic show tonight.
  Wed. 11/21/18 2:59am opurt:

Looking forward to December 24 :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 11/21/18 4:46am Ken From Hyde Park:

Zats, I dozed off there. Really had fun listening to your debut show, Sinead. Looking forward to more of your shows. Take care!
  Thu. 11/22/18 5:47am Sinead:

Ah you guys! Thanks so much for the wonderful feedback! So so happy that you all enjoyed the show. It was such a pleasure. Bring on the next one! Thanks again!
Avatar Thu. 11/22/18 5:18pm Stevo:

Great show Sinéad! The song selection was totally reminiscent of the old Phantom FM; looking forward to your next show!
