Ridgewood Radio features live sets by adventurous bands and experimental musicians, recorded at clubs and galleries running along the L-train corridor through Brooklyn and Queens from Williamsburg to the Rockaways. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the blossoming Ridgewood neighborhood, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Can't evolve fast enough!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 10/10/18 3:11pm steveo:

hello! when is he breathing?
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 3:12pm david w:

Michael is evolving and Sem devolving and geez has a ticket to ride!
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 3:13pm david w:

steveo! I think he was one of the earliest masters of circular breathing, kinda magical.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 10/10/18 3:13pm steveo:

yeah wow
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/10/18 3:22pm doctorjazz:

Great recording this Torikai. Wasn't Trane already quite adept at circular breathing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 10/10/18 3:22pm steveo:

i would imagine playing and breathing like this has a meditative quality -- continually focusing on the breath
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 3:24pm geezerette:

steveo, reminds me of haroh Sanders.
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 3:24pm david w:

And Steve Lacy. But they all used it for different effects.
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 3:26pm geezerette:

...Pharaoh...(!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/10/18 3:28pm doctorjazz:

Wild and right up my alley!
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 3:31pm david w:

This is definitely doctorjazz territory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 10/10/18 3:36pm Michael 98145:

whoa. Roulette's been around for 40 years? bravo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/10/18 3:39pm listener james from westwood:

Been in since the git-go via the magic of the mobile app but happy to hear it on the big speakers now at home!
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 3:40pm david w:

Ah, James! The big speakers will come in handy for the second half for sure!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/10/18 4:01pm Doug Schulkind:

Hi, David! Ho, Ruth! Hee-haw, ridgewoodians!
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 4:02pm weinstein:

Doug! There is a rumor that you are coming to NYC! And Ruth says hi!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/10/18 4:06pm Doug Schulkind:

There was once an ugly rumor. Then he moved out and we rented the space to someone much more optically appealing.
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 4:14pm geezerette:

That was so beautiful!
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 4:21pm geezerette:

That song really jarred me when I first saw the movie. It's a cocaine reference, the gong thing. Carmichael's tune and voice are so beautiful that the lyrics are like screeching brakes.
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 4:24pm weinstein:

Bang the Buddha's Gong is code for an opium session.
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 4:26pm geezerette:

Oh, that makes more sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/10/18 4:29pm northguineahills:

Crap, missed a lot, glad I got here for MEV.
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 4:34pm david w:

Hey ngh.... jumping from 1967 to 2017 with these two.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/10/18 4:35pm northguineahills:

Wait, Jeremy was in my band, and I played w/ Dok (who then allowed me to crash at his place as I was going through a rough time). I had no instruments, just my sampler and whatever he threw in front of me, fun show!
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 4:38pm david w:

Dok records everything. Maybe there's a tape?
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 4:38pm geezerette:

Love this piece.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 10/10/18 4:38pm steveo:

geezerette, I always imagine you drawing when these atmospheric tracks are playing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 10/10/18 4:45pm chresti:

It is good drawing music
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 4:48pm david w:

Hey, chresti! I think FMU has been the soundtrack to the creation of half the art out of NYC in the last decades. And now globally!
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 4:48pm geezerette:

David, I am!

Chresti, it's perfect!
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 4:50pm geezerette:

Definitely a factor on the west coast. :)
Lots of painters as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 10/10/18 4:54pm chresti:

Yes! Music has been a constant painting and drawing partner for me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 10/10/18 4:56pm Sem:

Eyes closed throughout, what a movie the show was a soundtrack to. Thank you for the ride. See you, David, and all, here again. Inevitable.
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 4:57pm david w:

Thanks to all who have pledged! Ridgewood has a respectable showing at this early date. I value the love as much as the cash, but that's a longer story....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 10/10/18 4:58pm Stanley:

I have to say this is excellent stuff.
My kind of thing.
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 4:58pm david w:

Thanks, Sem, Stanley, and all!
Avatar Wed. 10/10/18 4:58pm geezerette:
