Listener comments!

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 11:51am Tony Coulter:

Greetings, all! Can anyone ID today's LP-under-the-cassettes? Should be pretty easy, actually, both because it's a well-known album and because it's making a return engagement here on Tape Hiss.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:01pm fred:

Good afternoon Tony and listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:02pm Tony Coulter:

Heya, Fred!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:02pm Sem:

"Hello, Tony, he hissed."

How many times have I read about someone hissing something, and there isn't an "s" to be seen? Too often, you're right. Hello, fred.
Avatar    Tue. 7/17/18 12:03pm Yvang:

Hello Tony and Fred and Sem! I'll stay totally mute about the album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:03pm Tony Coulter:

Greets, Sem & Yvang!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:03pm Ike:

Mrrrrrowr?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:04pm listener james from westwood:

Never miss the Hiss!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:06pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, hey, Ike & Listener J!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:06pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Tony and hissters
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:07pm Tony Coulter:

@ Yvang: Thanks for staying mute -- especially since you didn't half to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:07pm Tony Coulter:

Hola, coelacanth∅!
Avatar    Tue. 7/17/18 12:08pm βrian:

Afternoon, ye hissterical hissterians.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:09pm Tony Coulter:

I suspect Tom & Lori logged some time listening to Laurie Anderson.
Avatar    Tue. 7/17/18 12:09pm βrian:

How many hands was Secretariat?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:09pm Tony Coulter:

Prenoon, βrian! (It's just past 9:00 AM here in Portland.)
Avatar    Tue. 7/17/18 12:10pm βrian:

Well, 11 am here on the isthmus, but I'm still on Ann Arbor time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:12pm fred:

@Tony: A few weeks ago I met a guy at a show who used to listen to your show when he lived in the US (he was wearing the Pulaski Skyway T-shirt). He didn't know about the drummer stream and thought you had stopped doing your show. Hopefully he'll tune in someday
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:13pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks for spreading the word, Fred! Many former listeners of mine somehow haven't been clued into the stream yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:19pm Tony Coulter:

No one (other than Yvang) knows what today's mystery LP is? Or did you forget to guess? Remember, you have to be Inuit to win it.
  Tue. 7/17/18 12:25pm Doug Schulkind:

Thank you, fred!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:25pm Jeff Golick:

Hi Tony. I got the LP, but don't believe I'm eligible. I too will stay mute. Or somewhat mute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:26pm Tony Coulter:

Jeff G! You didn't half to! But thanks....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:27pm Tony Coulter:

Hiya, Doug!! How's the old world treating you today?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:29pm Tony Coulter:

A pity Tom and Lori never got to make their planned follow-up album" "Feet."
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:33pm Tony Coulter:

Well, since everyone who knows what today's album is is apparently not Inuit, I'll do the big reveal now: It's Tuxedomoon's "Half-Mute" www.discogs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:38pm northguineahills:

Heard Tom & Lori before. I love the Yoko and Casio fun aspect. Work almost gave me an aneurysm... all copacetic now (finished less then two minutes before the deadline).
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:39pm Tony Coulter:

Greetings, NGH! Glad all is copacetic and aneurysm-free!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:45pm Nick S.:

Hey! Glad to finally make it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:49pm Tony Coulter:

Ahoy, Nick! Glad you made it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:52pm fred:

@ngh: When my soon-to-be-former boss organized a conference, he looked at the submission site stats to find most papers were submitted within minutes of the deadline
  Tue. 7/17/18 12:52pm Doug Schulkind:

Figuring where to go for dinner, Tony. It’s approaching 8pm here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 12:55pm fred:

@Doug: I hope you're not even considering McDonald's (ducks)
Avatar Tue. 7/17/18 1:00pm Kay:

Tuxedomoon! Do I get the late-through-the-door prize?
  Tue. 7/17/18 1:00pm Doug Schulkind:

@fred
If McDonald’s built a franchise here, Ikarians would push it into the sea.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 1:01pm Tony Coulter:

Heya, Kay-a! Well, I'll award you an honorary mention -- the secret has already been revealed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 1:32pm Tony Coulter:

Dichotic: involving or relating to the simultaneous stimulation of the right and left ear by different sounds (I didn't know.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 1:44pm Tony Coulter:

By the by, that Erling Wold track we just heard is also on his album "Music of Love": www.discogs.com...

Plus, Wold is on this great Duncan Trio LP: www.discogs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 1:46pm Ike:

The Ikarians sound all right to me. Do they eat babaganoush there?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 1:48pm Tony Coulter:

Ike! The Ike-arians must be your long lost people.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 1:50pm Tony Coulter:

The Ike Aryans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 1:51pm Tony Coulter:

Norbert's got the just intonation blues.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 1:53pm Tony Coulter:

Oh, forgot to mention: Erling Wold was also in the Beefheart-influenced band Name: www.discogs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 1:54pm fred:

I think the Ikarians were named after a clueless guy who thought an extra apostrophe would allow his to soar, but instead the extra weight brought him down to his death
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 1:54pm northguineahills:

I just intonated here....(sorry)
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 1:57pm Tony Coulter:

The return of Thomas Dougherty ....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:03pm Tony Coulter:

Damn you, pre/post-echo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:07pm Tony Coulter:

NB: The previous track was a reconstruction of actual Ancient Greek music -- which used just intonation scales. It went out to Doug
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:14pm Stanley:

Happily listening.....and digging!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:15pm Tony Coulter:

Stanley! Heya!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:20pm JtotheK:

hi tony, hi everyone. i'm in a conference room with 4 other people but doing my best to listen quietly without them all noticing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:21pm Tony Coulter:

Hiya, JtotheK! I'll try not to play anything that will make you visibly twitch.
Avatar    Tue. 7/17/18 2:23pm βrian:

... to say nothing of twerking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:23pm JtotheK:

oh, and the LP - is it Lawrence Welk's "Tuxedo Under the Moon"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:24pm Tony Coulter:

You got it, JtotheK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:31pm coelacanth∅:

so close yet so bizarre
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:31pm coelacanth∅:

i'm back. i had to work but i had a feeling i'd get rained-in before the show was over
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:32pm Tony Coulter:

Willkommen back!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:40pm Tony Coulter:

Sorry Ralph butted in there before he was supposed to!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:50pm fred:

I like the (probably wrong) story that Pythagoras ordered to be drowned the guy who found out about irrational numbers
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:54pm northguineahills:

You were right, I have Ulysses Departs from the Edge of the World.

I spend three years (98-2001) looking for Robert Rich material before I found some (at Other Music).
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:56pm Tony Coulter:

Will definitely have to fade this Partch out, unfortunately -- Ulysses will depart from the edge of the world ahead of schedule.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:56pm Sem:

Wel, thank you , Mr. Tony. Another show is hisstory. I look forward to the next time joining you and the coultergeists for yet another journey. Bye!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:57pm Tony Coulter:

See you, Sir Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:58pm fred:

Alas, I'll be back at work next week. Thanks for the show, Tony
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 7/17/18 2:59pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, everyone! See (some of) you next week!
Avatar    Tue. 7/17/18 3:00pm βrian:
