Hiya hey hello, blee, coelacanth∅, and fred!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/19/18 12:05pm coelacanth∅:

i'll guess that those huge asparaguses are pretty tough.

i see - Xavier wrote "the happy hooker". i remember when my mom read all those books. a confusing time for a kid.
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 12:31pm Tony Coulter:

Obviously some mom left a copy of "The Happy Hooker" near a bag of asparagus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/19/18 12:37pm coelacanth∅:

well that's just irresponsible parenting...or gardening ...or food storage
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Tue. 6/19/18 12:37pm Rich in Washington:

I just got my Stumptown premium CD yesterday. I'm so excited, I could plotz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Tue. 6/19/18 12:39pm Rich in Washington:

We had white asparagus the other night. It had an unsettling appearance and texture. It seems like I've cooked it before, didn't like it then, but somehow forgot and bought some again.
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 12:39pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Rich! Hope you like it. For one horrible moment I thought you meant Stumptown Coffee had become a label, just like Voodoo Donuts.
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 12:41pm Tony Coulter:

Hope you like the premium, I mean ... not white asparagus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Tue. 6/19/18 12:45pm Rich in Washington:

I also love the Langford/Sputnik tee and the glow-in-the-dark magnet.
I only now need a WFMU toothbrush holder to feel like my life's complete.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/19/18 12:47pm coelacanth∅:

i've never been tempted to buy or grow white asparagus. it just doesn't seem right.
- and now that i know the fundraiser stuff is getting mailed i may commence being anxious about it arriving during 1 of the weekly 4-day spans i'm away from home and being ruined by natural elements.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/19/18 12:49pm annie:

white aspargus is just the spears grown in sand with no sunlight hitting the stalks. i think they're obnoxious, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Tue. 6/19/18 12:50pm Rich in Washington:

I actually forgot about it. I think that helped, then was pleasantly surprised to see it in my mailbox last night. The T-shirt was pleasantly of high quality and even fit my dysmorphic torso to a 't'.
Avatar 🎃 Tue. 6/19/18 12:50pm βrian:

Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 1:07pm northguineahills:

It might not be popular w/ the peanut gallery, but "A Thousand Leaves" is one of my favorite SY albums....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Tue. 6/19/18 1:10pm Rich in Washington:

I liked that series of records they put out on Sonic Youth Records.
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 1:13pm northguineahills:

Me too, Rich!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/19/18 1:16pm coelacanth∅:

i like a thousand leaves also, and sonic nurse
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 1:17pm northguineahills:

I know a lot of people who only like SY's 80s output. I like all of it (I have every release)
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 1:20pm Tony Coulter:

My smallish Sonic Youth collection was very randomly assembled, and is all over the place chronologically.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/19/18 1:21pm coelacanth∅:

mine as well, and i don't know that many albums
  Tue. 6/19/18 1:21pm Joe Shlabotnik:

Why isn't someone like Rhino putting out a SAC box set?
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 1:23pm Tony Coulter:

Joe, baby! How's it hanging?

This SAC song is a real mini epic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Tue. 6/19/18 1:24pm Jeff Golick:

Hi. Chiming in to say that I like the Thousand Leaves/Washing Machine period SY very much (though this might be because it's also when I saw them live the most).
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 1:25pm Tony Coulter:

Heya, Jeff!
  Tue. 6/19/18 1:27pm Joe Shlabotnik:

Doing okay. Howsabout you?

@ Joe Shlabotnik: Yes, do buzz -- or I'll buzz you. All is fine out here in the Mild West.
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 1:29pm northguineahills:

My SY collection is alphabetized, like my whole record collection.

Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 1:33pm Tony Coulter:

  Tue. 6/19/18 1:38pm Psychspaniolos:

Hello Tony and friends...a little bit late today
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 1:39pm Tony Coulter:

Hiya, Psychspaniolos! You made it in time for the basement records segment, which is coming up right after this set.
  Tue. 6/19/18 1:40pm Psychspaniolos:

Wonderful amazing music right now thanks a lot
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/19/18 1:43pm coelacanth∅:

ngh, my records and cds are in alphabetical order, and my cassettes are not but are numbered -and alphabetized in a notebook with the corresponding numbers ...then additionally organised by categories. (and all formats in alphabetical order in another notebook)
...i only have 5 sonic youth albums though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/19/18 1:45pm coelacanth∅:

and Tony, my pants are not. they are however organised according to how they fit.

Gary Higgins, new to me!
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 1:57pm northguineahills:

My recs/cds/cassettes/ are in strcit ABC order. Although, I've toyed w/ the idea w/ a Library of Congress order, but I should do that to my books first....
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 1:58pm Tony Coulter:

Sorry: the accuplaylist froze up for a minute there. Seems to be unstuck now.
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 2:00pm northguineahills:

errr... strict....
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 2:04pm Tony Coulter:

All this talk about music collection organization is making me anxious. My records, CDs, and cassettes are really disorganized at the moment, mostly due to lack of shelving. Hence the boxes and boxes of LPs in my basement.
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 2:04pm Tony Coulter:

George Street (on now) is a band, not a person.
  Tue. 6/19/18 2:07pm Psychspaniolos:

Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 2:08pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, Psychspaniolos! Last time I checked, "Magic Lady" wasn't on discogs. I see it's been reissued in Japan!
Avatar 🎃 Tue. 6/19/18 2:11pm Mayuko:

Catching the last hour live! Good afternoon Tony and everyone.
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 2:11pm Tony Coulter:

Hiya, Mayuko! Nice to see you here!
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 2:14pm Tony Coulter:

Chris Ruhe (on now) reminds me of a mix of Dave Bixby and Mr. Rogers.
  Tue. 6/19/18 2:15pm Psychspaniolos:

This is a great set....great
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 2:15pm Tony Coulter:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Tue. 6/19/18 2:19pm Jeff Golick:

I wonder about the amount of listening that went into this set, and the songs that didn't make the cut (by a wide margin). Tony, you're doing the lord's work here.
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 2:22pm Tony Coulter:

Well, there's also pleasure for me in finding out records are terrible -- that way I can get rid of them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Tue. 6/19/18 2:23pm Jeff Golick:

...but do you?

Wow, thanks Psychspaniolos:!
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 2:26pm Tony Coulter:

@ Jeff Golick: Believe it or not, yes I do! I've built up four boxes of records I'll be giving to a friend. They'll be his problem to deal with.
  Tue. 6/19/18 2:27pm Psychspaniolos:

Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 2:32pm northguineahills:

Fondation, also new to me!
Avatar 🎃 Tue. 6/19/18 2:35pm Mayuko:

I've been enjoying the music immensely too but also cannot help wondering what are those... asparagus people??? Is that how some of the basement records feel to you?
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 2:36pm Tony Coulter:

@ NGH: Fondation released three great cassettes in the early '80s. They were related to the band Spacecraft, and also the France-based version of Musica Elettronica Viva (MEV).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Tue. 6/19/18 2:38pm Jeff Golick:

This guy's voice kinda reminds me of Michael Lonsdale.
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 2:38pm Tony Coulter:

@ Mayuko: My paranoid fantasies about my basement records run more in the directions of evil mold monsters than asparagus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Tue. 6/19/18 2:43pm Rich in Washington:

I like Sleep Chamber when there isn't any singing in it.
Avatar Tue. 6/19/18 2:47pm Tony Coulter:

Yeah, their "sex magick" lyrics can get a bit silly.
  Tue. 6/19/18 2:49pm Dean:

Saw SPK not long after this release at Al's Bar. The bassist played with gloves on. They attached a contact mic to a garage door spring, then smashed beer bottles into the spring.
