@Uncle Michael: I agree, but the time difference made it 9-12, which I know about (not so much on Sundays though, so I only caught the end of the show)

Not trying to be obnoxious, but there's a good reason most other DJs back-announce backwards. It's a habit from before the era of Accu-Playlist 9000. If you're in a car and you tune in in the middle of a set and wanted to know what a particular track was, it's much easier to figure it out if the DJ announced in reverse. Otherwise you might look on your phone to see the playlist and then crash into the median strip, or ram your car into a hipster coffee shop, or hit a Mack truck full of chicken carcasses. And it's good for anyone else who can't get online to see live playlists, too.

Hey Spin Age Blastoids - you can find all the live sessions here freemusicarchive.org...
Avatar 4:54pm
Creamo Coyl:

I know. I did it on my old show before there was online stuff. I'm just a stinker. Occasionally there is nor order. Sorry! it's obnoxious.
Avatar 4:55pm
Creamo Coyl:

thx Cheyenne!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm
ɨkɛ:

I'm just saying, if you tune in and it's the middle of a set, you don't know when the set began. Counting backwards with the DJ from the last song to figure it out in your head is possible. But if the DJ forward-announces, you're screwed.

Wers is the Emerson college station. They had live local music sunday nights on metrowave. I heard and or taped live sets by Blake babies. Cave dogs. Pixies. Big Dipper. The cave dogs went to the trouble of writing a comedy script around the set which included Dave cross and John Ennis. Twice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm
ultradamno:

When I saw End Result they were misbilled as In Revolt so my friend Alex and I were the only people there half-expecting a thrash band. They addressed the two of us as though we were a huge crowd the entire night and told a story about going the wrong way on a one way street for several blocks on the way to the show and not understanding why all the traffic lights were facing the "wrong" direction

slugluv1313:

right, Ike!
in the pre-Internet Dark Ages (a/k/a 1980s), i had a lot of night jobs -- i would come home from work, tune into WFMU, and when something really caught my attention (hey it is WFMU, just about EVERYTHING is interesting!) i would draw lines (you know, how the movies always depict prisoners counting off days!) to indicate the songs AFTER the one i wanted to identify -- so when the DJ came on the air and announced the songs in reverse, i could just count backwards & figure it out from there
