I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

The Indonesian Embassy in DC was open to the public last weekend and they played a small gamelan with some dancing. It was nice. Also Trinidad had a mini-soca parade past the Embassy of Peru (where we were).
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 12:40pm sphere:

One other strange thing--the Indonesian Embassy had an electric pipe organ. The console had a 50s-ish look to it.
Avatar Fri. 5/11/18 12:41pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

i remember getting this Indonesian compilation album out of library in Belgium in '95! Thanks for the reminder Bryce. i love the way it just sort of ambles along. Some of the tracks just sound like a roomful of hippies jamming randomly [in the best possible way : )]

I like the Almuro. It sounds like the movie The Black Hole by Disney looks. Synethsesia made me think of that?
  Fri. 5/11/18 1:22pm Stepchild:

Has this gotten a much deserved legit re-release??
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 1:24pm sphere:

shoutout to mr. blumin for letting me know about this rather incredible 12-CD box from '16. m. henry personally remastered all this stuff (along with long-time technical collaborator, Bernadette Mangin), almost right up to his death....and i have to say, it sounds absolutely stunning on the nice Adam A8X's in here....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 1:42pm Michael 98145:

sounding good on our 128K AAC

@KenW - Mind saying where you got it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 1:56pm sphere:

Avatar    Fri. 5/11/18 1:56pm KenW:

Re Sphere,, No problem, there were a few places but I was lazy and just ordered from Amazon.
Avatar    Fri. 5/11/18 1:58pm KenW:

Bryce, the other mega collection I splurged on was also because of you, Bernard Parmagiani, and it changed my (audio) life. Thanks for bringin' it my friend!

bryce is up all afternoon to get lucky...
Avatar    Fri. 5/11/18 2:02pm KenW:

I was a little prejudiced toward Henry, felt he was a little more mainstream than the other Musique concrète folks, but this completely changed my uninformed mind,,,,
Avatar    Fri. 5/11/18 2:03pm KenW:

WOW, just WOW
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:06pm Michael 98145:

guess we're just slaves to the rhythm
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:08pm Bryce:

this one was from 97 too! so this is the work of a 70-year-old.
Avatar    Fri. 5/11/18 2:09pm KenW:

Whoa, that makes it even better!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:12pm sphere:

Henry's soundscapes sound like they were created in a parallel reality.

Hi Bryceans. thought I was late but somehow this feels just in time. timmmmmberrr!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:16pm George of Troy:

I have the 10xLP Henry set on VOD. I'll be interested to see how much if any overlap there is with this Polyphonies collection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:16pm northguineahills:

Yeah, I haven't heard this Henry before!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:18pm joe mulligan:

Bryce since you once played "El Tren Fantasma" could you play Chris Watson's "Cima Verde" in it's entirety some Friday? full of nature sounds.
Avatar    Fri. 5/11/18 2:19pm KenW:

I've also never heard this before, completely blown away!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:21pm Passaic River Blues:

There were whole segments of "Histoire Naturelle" that were perfect synthesis of sound as narrative or theater. Shit was phenomenal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:26pm Bryce:

joe, that could very well happen! been on a kick, trying to rack down the chris watsons i'm missing....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:26pm Bryce:

oh man, so glad people were digging that henry. i sure love that piece....
  Fri. 5/11/18 2:27pm Stepchild:

@George, I have both and the answer is, not terribly much overlap. The CD box has many later era works entirely absent from the LP set. Plus for that many discs it’s pretty damn affordable imo
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:28pm joe mulligan:

thanks Bryce! and I did love that Henry. so nice to hear while stuck in an office
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:29pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Missed the Henry!
Here for the Bayle!

  Fri. 5/11/18 2:31pm Mark Williams:

too many notes for jazz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:33pm Bryce:

but not enough for canterbury

Bayle is pretty formidible. I bought a power washer. A Karcher HD 2.3/23. 2300 psi, swashplate pump, Honda motor. Nice unit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:44pm steveo:

just popped some 2-[4-(2-methylpropyl) phenyl] propanoic acid, let's see if that helps
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:50pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Three hours doesn't seem like enough. Can we get a Bryce Stream set up and continue this loveliness?
Avatar Fri. 5/11/18 2:51pm Barney Grubbs:

@steveo, if you call the 2-methylpropyl group an isobutyl group (iBu), then the name ibuprofen (iBu-pro(panoic acid)-phen(yl)) almost makes sense
  Fri. 5/11/18 2:51pm nic:

love this_Pierre Henry 2 !!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 2:53pm Bryce:

*quickly googles, to see if it's in PiKHAL*

thanks, Bryce! super stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/11/18 3:00pm Ken From Hyde Park:
