Hola guineahills de norte!

I've only boarded the Staten Island Ferry once, on a Saturday evening, after getting drunk w/ friends about 13 years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/8/18 7:20pm melinda:

I rode the Ellis Island Ferry.
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 7:21pm Jesse Kaminsky:

hey melinda!
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 7:22pm Jesse Kaminsky:

I rode it with my dad a couple years ago just to ride around, we just turned around and took the next one back, it was pretty fun
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/8/18 7:24pm melinda:

I like ferries.

I actually have been to Sagami Bay. My Boy Scout troop (one of my crazy dumb ideas) took inflatable rafts about 45 km from the mouth of the Sagami River and rowed from dawn until we got to the bay. This was 1989, so there was little pollution laws in Japan (that would change big time in the 90s). We saw a lot of questionable stuff flowing into the river. But, we made it! (I'm great at convincing people to go along on my hairballed adventures
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 7:35pm northguineahills:

I used to used to use the East River Ferry a lot.
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 7:36pm northguineahills:

errr..., hairbrained....(I need someone who speaks English!)
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 7:37pm Jesse Kaminsky:

For the record I would definitely not have gone on that adventure in 1989 but would absolutely do that today, though not a big fan of boats or water in general
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 7:40pm northguineahills:

I also did around 50 miles canoeing the French Broad River in 1990. We started in Tennessee, went through NC, and ended in SC. It took 3 days.

ngh I like hairballed

My dumbest canoe trip I ever did was on Little Black Creek South Branch (in FL), in 1996, I took my college gf, but it was in the middle of one of the worst droughts, so the water level was really low. We kept on having to get out and porter the canoe amongst the fallen trees (which usually would be passable). We were eaten alive by mosquitoes, deer and cow flies (she more then I). Four hours later, after going through private farms and god knows where, we came to a bridge. Got out, and walked 3 miles to find a phone to get someone to pick us up (oh, the pre-cell phone days). We paddled a grand five miles.

I enjoy the Staten Island Ferry... first took it to go on a picnic on the roof of willowbrook, the abandoned mental hospital, with some weirdos I met at occupy
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/8/18 8:01pm melinda:

My Dumbest Canoe Trip isn't an anecdotal category one often hears about but that's a good one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/8/18 8:02pm melinda:

LJ that sounds fun.
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 8:02pm northguineahills:

I found the blueprints to Willowbrook when I worked at NYC Dept of City Planning (was making a digital model of the City.) I wanted to do a live concert there, but sadly, that never materialized.
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 8:03pm northguineahills:

I looking forward to taking my wife on a dumb canoe trip this summer. I'll make it a booze cruise!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/8/18 8:05pm Webhamster Henry:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/8/18 8:23pm melinda:

Has anyone seen Cropsey? It's a Staten Island themed documentary and my only exposure to the place: cropseylegend.com
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 8:24pm northguineahills:

New Eno!
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 8:25pm northguineahills:

@melinda: something else to add to my queue. (I've virtually explored that whole area, even asking field crews for pics).
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 8:28pm Jesse Kaminsky:

yeah 9 LPs worth of previously unreleased or very limited release Eno!
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 8:35pm northguineahills:

@Jesse: O_O!!!

Must get!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/8/18 8:36pm melinda:

I just watered my outdoor plants to the Eno, it was nice
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 8:42pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Pretty sure plants thrive in that bubble bath
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 8:53pm northguineahills:

Antti Tolvi, new to me! Reminds me of Aine O'Dwyer.
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 9:00pm Jesse Kaminsky:

I feel like it's a moment that this Church Organ came out in the same year as Ellen Arkbo For Organ and Brass and Sarah Davachi For Organ. Great year for pipe organs!
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 9:01pm northguineahills:

The pipe organ, one of my favorite timbres!
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 9:06pm northguineahills:

Ok, leaving work, thanks Jesse and neighbors, won't you be mine, won't you be my neighbor?
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 9:10pm northguineahills:

I actually got to use my parent's church's pipe organ and record some minimalist piece w/ a friend last year. Good fun!
Avatar Tue. 5/8/18 9:13pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Kind of wish I grew up with a church
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/8/18 9:18pm melinda:

I went to church off and on but there was no pipe organ, just a piano.
