Hola Jesse and Melinda. This may be my 2nd time here [?]. Just weeks ago, I didn't even realize there's a show such as this on woofmoo.

Kate writes about this piece: "This release involved a lot of sliding about in freezing mud on steep inclines. Born out of a residency at Joya arte ecologia in Velez Blanco in southern Spain where I decided to undertake a sonic transect of the mountain facing the villa in which I lived. Over the next two weeks I lugged my equipment up and down the mountain, pausing every 100 metres to sample or attempt to 'play' a very precise and small location....It was all a little bit Mordor-esque to be honest, setting out each day to climb a grey slippery mountain with my backpack full of quite heavy gear, my mud laden boots and my quest to make a sonic transect. The result of this repeated journey is this release which explores 10 sonic niches, in an attempt to chart the changing sonic environments in this extreme environment. These locations were both recorded straight and 'played' via activities ranging from vibrating the hunting signs, to rolling pines cones. So this is a transect of a journey, and the sounds I made in making this journey. "

Hey northguineahills, most all sounds welcome, depending on context

This river in SW part of Cape Cod, a short one -3.1 mi.
Avatar Tue. 4/24/18 7:53pm Jesse Kaminsky:

"Upstream of the now-removed lower bog weir on Coonamessett River is the middle bog weir. This weir is to be removed in the next stage of river restoration, after the lower bog restoration is complete. My initial impulse was to record this weir purely to document it, since I wasn't sure it would be that different from the lower bog weir. I was happily proved wrong, and found the middle bog weir has its own character to it, and at the time even had some lively chattery critters in a patch of river plant matter a short ways downstream from the weir. "
Avatar Tue. 4/24/18 7:55pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Bog Weir sounds like the name of a character from a cartoon about a hippie band who lives under a sewer grate
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/24/18 8:00pm melinda:

haha! I knew there was a Dead joke in there somewhere.
Avatar Tue. 4/24/18 8:05pm TDK60:

Avatar Tue. 4/24/18 8:28pm northguineahills:

Sorry, been finishing up at work. Finally understanding the big picture now, and the context so I'm not just number crunching, making maps and setting up a central database. Been volunteering to do some rudimentary lab work, enjoying it.
Avatar Tue. 4/24/18 8:32pm Jesse Kaminsky:

I thought you were gis, what lab work is there to do?
Avatar Tue. 4/24/18 8:35pm northguineahills:

Just monitoring water and botanic samples, and keeping an eye on anorexic experiments. Nothing fancy. I ain't no scientist. But yes, 90% of what I do is GIS. Volunteering to go out into the field to take samples as soon as we move to a larger office.
Avatar Tue. 4/24/18 8:40pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Sounds exciting if not fancy

The Orioles may be the worst team in the MLB this year. But thanks for bringing that up.
Avatar Tue. 4/24/18 9:26pm Jesse Kaminsky:

With your degree you should be able to play for any mlb team right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/24/18 9:26pm Uncle Michael:

They're not even close to the worst. I like them against the Reds in a long series.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/24/18 9:27pm Doug Schulkind:

I wonder if the Majors is hiring any new social workers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 4/24/18 9:27pm Uncle Michael:
