Something fun to do if you have an old phonograph (the type with a manual arm that weighs about 1 lb with a 1/4 in. thick needle. Try to play a cheap (circa 1985) LP on it and see what happens.

That method of recording required a certain tone of voice to really work. No electronic amplification..... That's why everyone on records back then sounds different than normal speech today
