Simpsons Time is several people's favorite feature of Amanda's radio program Nazario Scenario. One episode is discussed per week, focusing on the show's writing and its impact on the cultural landscape. Here we present the episode recaps and analysis all on their own, in snacktacular scaled-down form. Note: For a re-bigulated listening experience with the rest of Amanda's show, you can find the Nazario Scenario archives here.

I keep up with new Simpsons episodes when I can--not religiously. Like so many, I was dismayed to see how the show addressed "The Problem with Apu" this week. I'm still mulling it over, but it seems like their tepid treatment of the issue was part ego, part tone-deafness. I fear that Simpsons writers still see their fans as the people who swarmed Poochie's in-store at the Android's Dungeon, ie. a niche group of weirdos whose opinions are easily shrugged off. In fact, the great majority of us are well-adjusted adults with the same love of pop culture, and desire to improve it, as they have. The most frustrating thing is that we are like this, in part, *because* of the Simpsons.
Anything can happen now, and it's my sincere hope that the makers of the show will redeem themselves after this huge mistake. But I'm not holding my breath. This demonstration of ignorance, that millions of fans see as a betrayal, could well be something that the Simpsons doesn't recover from.
Here is an article that I agree with: tv.avclub.com...
I would like to discuss this in a future podcast if I have time! Thanks for reading. xoA
