Avatar 3:09pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...yer 16 - I'm ancient - & it's wrong...
Avatar 3:09pm Sid:

Yep, and America was Neil Young, and BTO was The Doobie Brothers. For a liitle while anyway.
Avatar 3:13pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...a CanCon Conspiracy sounds like...
Avatar 3:17pm Sid:

Wow, if this isn't Byrds, Who, Raspberries and Badfinger all wrapped up in the moment in some beautiful harmonies.
Avatar 3:27pm Sid:

Closed by copping the opening chord from Hard Days Night too.
Avatar 3:31pm Sid:

Avatar 4:42pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

VelvetUnderground were 'Warlocks' too one point don'chaknow...
  4:42pm Al:

Interesting trivia that I just found: The Four Lads recorded the original version of "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)", recorded later by They Might Be Giants.
Avatar 4:43pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...which is nobody's bidness but the Turks...
4:45pm nee nee na na na na nu nu ! ! !:

Dicky Doo - Gerry Granaham - signed The Angels to his Caprice Records, where they had hits with "Till" and "Cry, Baby Cry," and Robert Feldman asked to borrow them to make a demo, to pitch his song with Jerry Goldstein and Richard Gottehrer - The Strangeloves - to the Shirelles. Nevermind the Shirelles - The Angels' with their new lead singer, Joe Belock's inlaw Aunt Peggy Santiglia, knocked "My Boyfriend's Back" out of the park. In an unscrupulous turn of events, Granaham and Capice Records got swindled, the record being put out by Mercury's Smash label, instead.

All outta my researching "Doowaddie" songwriter Hutch Davie - remember?
  4:45pm Al:

Love the Yardbirds but prefer Manfred Mann's version.
  4:47pm JakeGould:

Woo! Habibi!
Avatar 4:48pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...MickieMost - kinda the Least of the yARdbiRdS...tho' he worked well for Donovan somehow...
Avatar 5:02pm Jack:

I like a lot of the Mickie Most songs, Yardbirds, Donovan and otherss (lots of good others). Yeah, sometimes corny pop sound, but still sometimes really good.
9:29am nee nee na na na na nu nu ! ! !:

Songwriting friend Eddie Dean supplied the song's vocal - "We all tried singing it; he had the sound" . . . "Dicky Doo" is how Dick Clark called his namesake toddler during phone calls with Gerry Granaham . . . Granaham's requesting Chip Taylor write a song for group, the Wild Ones, resulted in "Wild Thing" . . . It's destiny: 1958 "Doowaddie" songwriter Hutch Davie and 1958's Dicky Doo working together . . . Why didn't Todd ask Richard Gottehrer about the hit man Granaham says was sent or about the Angels still suing for royalties?
  10:00am bk:

I knew about the origins of the name "Dicky Doo". The rest of it is red meat and potatoes for me.
Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Peapeagirl:

For years, I thought it was Ringo too.
Jesus Bill, in addition to my late start, I only had 9 favorites! LOL & great show (smiley face)
  9:43pm bk:

Peapeagirl...My kids used to call me "Jesus Dad", as in "Jesus Dad will you stop bothering me!"
  7:25am Burtoni:
