Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 10:39pm northguineahills:

The 90s band Catherine does a good 'grungey' cover of "Every Christian Lion Hearted Man Will Show You' Darcy, from Smashing Pumpkins, boyfriend at the time played w/ said band.
  Wed. 3/21/18 10:40pm Dean:

OMG, did the Bee Gees die?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 10:40pm Funky16Corners:

I'll have to look for that. The Three O'Clock used to do In My Own Time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 10:41pm Funky16Corners:

Cool. I've got a big job scheduled for those dates but we can probably work out a time.

Love this Bee Gees set! I only figured out recently that Bee Gees stands for B-rothers G-ibb!

Hey, rw!
  Wed. 3/21/18 10:59pm Dean:

Yeah, and for me it means packing up my kid and driving west for a while. Let's play it by ear, i.e., by email.

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 11:03pm Funky16Corners:

Great album
  Wed. 3/21/18 11:03pm Dean:

I do believe part of this album was recorded here in Berkeley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 11:04pm Funky16Corners:

I did not know that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 11:04pm Funky16Corners:

They actually had a minor hit off of this record with Brim Full of Asha
  Wed. 3/21/18 11:05pm rw:

ngh, I was just walking my dog wearing shorts and sandals. Not to make you jealous or anything. Just sayin'. On a related note I ran into my neighbor the other morning. He was moving his marijuana plants outside into the daylight. I guess they go into the garage for gro-light at night and outside for sunlight during the day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 11:06pm Parq:

Brim Full has one of the best pop videos ever. And yes, I love the dickens out of this whole album. Irwin sometimes uses that herky-jerky flute instrumental as talkover music.
  Wed. 3/21/18 11:07pm Dean:

Minor hit? Gets regular play in these parts. In fact, I'm wrong. Was recorded entirely in England, but songs are associated with towns in the notes. "Brimful" is associated with Berkeley, for some reason.
  Wed. 3/21/18 11:07pm rw:

I kind of got sick of that Cornershop record when it was a hit but it sounds pretty great now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 11:08pm Funky16Corners:

At the time, a hit in the broader sense. Not sure how big it was in the UK but my impressionw as that it was strictly an 'alternative' hit over here
  Wed. 3/21/18 11:10pm rw:

Parq, Brim Full vid is now on my "to do" list.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 11:17pm Parq:

rw, you gonna love it. Gotta go, Larry and all. Keep killing it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 11:17pm Funky16Corners:

Nite Parq!
  Wed. 3/21/18 11:18pm Dean:

From the Bee Gees to the Dee Gees.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 11:19pm Funky16Corners:

Um...yeah, I planned it that way! Cough...
  Wed. 3/21/18 11:21pm Doctorjazz:

Just recently discovered Davy Graham.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 11:23pm Funky16Corners:

Davy's something else

Excellent!
  Wed. 3/21/18 11:32pm rw:

Wow. Quite a climax there. (Sunday Morning)
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 11:32pm Funky16Corners:

Yeah, the fidelity is a little off on that (slightly rough 45) bit Oliver really belts it out
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 11:32pm Funky16Corners:

One of the more unusual covers of that song
  Wed. 3/21/18 11:53pm rw:

Thanks Funky 16Corners! Have a good week. Take care everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/21/18 11:54pm Funky16Corners:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/23/18 8:59am Cal Zone!:

Great show, LG! Checked out the archive at the gym!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sat. 3/24/18 1:56pm Brian in UK:

Larry
Great to hear some John Stewart. Draft Age put me in mind of this album by John Train (I know using Phil Ochs alterego name) really Jon Houlon. His album Mesopotamia Blues is a good stab at trying to put the Iraq war in context shall we say. Going right back to Kipling and WW1 when Iraq was first screwed up. He covers Draft Age amongst other songs, original and otherwise.

Yes, California Bloodlines does not date.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/28/18 9:47am Funky16Corners:

Thanks Cal! Thanks Brian!
