The album is all songs inspired by Edgar Allen Poe. The opening track is literally just Lou singing about Poe's life, with the chorus "These are the stories of Edgar Allen Poe/Not exactly the boy nextdoor!" The "Hop Frog" track is mostly Lou and Bowie yelling "Hop Frog!!" Steve Buscemi pops up on it. The whole thing is bananas, but not unlikable.

Bill Mac:

Irt's like that here right now. We have pre summer warmth last week, now we're back to near freezing.

Squeeze in a comment, loving the set. Haven't heard a version of Needles and Pins I didn't like. Gave to look for this Tzadik record, sounds like fun.
(are you the DJ who plays Captain Beefheart the most? Not a bad thing...)

Parq:

Garrison Keilor isn't very popular in these parts, and I hope you will excuse me for bringing up, but there's a line of his that I always quote: March was put into the year because God wanted people who don't drink to know what a hangover feels like.

Fran, any good gigs lately or lined up? All I've got up here is Kamasi Washington in May

Bill Mac:

@DJ I think I am the Beefheart guy. Don't know whether my consistency in that department is good practice here but no one has complained.

Bill Frisell on guitar, though that's not so obvious listening to it.

Howdy!
Cold and rainy in Lotus Land, where the heated Oscar tents are sprouting like plastic mushrooms.

Stanley - Kamasi is great and if you haven't seen him before you are in for a treat. Tickets in place for Sparks, Keiji Haino, Counterflows and Tectonics festivals in Glasgow, and Supersonic festival in Birmingham, Peter Hammill, and hopefully the revived Os Mutantes...amongst others!!

Nice one, Fran. Yes, Os Mutantes. I'll have to see if they're coming north of the border. Saw Kamasi a couple of years ago. I hear he's got a new release - three tracks that can be played on their own or on top of of each other.

Keith seemed like he would have a sterling vocabulary. Thx Brian, I miss hanging out with you and this crowd.
