  2:32pm Lyle:

Apache ... now that was a band. A four-piece as I recall. Understated. I never knew if they were authentic native Americans or not, as they tended to wear modern hippie duds like the rest of the kids at that time. I only know that they had a good drummer with a nice kit of Slingerlands, and they shared a manager with Stinky Grainert (whom, sadly, many of your listeners have never heard of). Anyway, I was playing with Bub Coda at the time (Cub's brother, the one in Brownsville Station). Bub was always close to breaking big, but he couldn't quite get there, probably because he lacked his brothers singing and guitar playing capabilities, and he had no visual signature, like Cub's referee shirt. We tried to get Bub to wear a bathing cap, so that we could market him as a Mr. Bubble type character, but he wouldn't have it. So, instead of playing the Mankato Convention Center like Brownsville Station was, the Bub Coda Band (with me on trombone) was stuck playing lower class joints like Pixie's Waltz-A-Way. That's where I gigged with The Apaches. I don't remember a whole lot about that gig, except that we had a Ford Econoline van that we would visit on our breaks with The Apaches, smoking the "peace pipe" as we called it then. Invariably, we'd slink back into the club and end the night with Bub's song, "Drinking In The Boy's Room," which was just a little too derivative of his brother's hit, "Smokin' In The Boys Room," for it to go anywhere. Bub hung up his rock n roll shoes after that. I joined up with Steam-Powered Flag, which was a splinter group of the Electric Flag. We never went anywhere either. As for The Apaches, not sure what happened to them after Mankato. I lost touch. Nice to hear them today on your show, though, Joe.
Avatar 2:32pm Carmichael:

It is the Bob and Doug actors. It's when the Russians took over the SCTV airwaves.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Hoboken Jack:

Was funny, when I came home from the hospital in December, not being here since August, the place looked a bit unfamiliar, yet I smiled when I saw the Dynamico CD on my windowsill.
