What's the best "Dark Star", Jeff?
Avatar Mon. 7/17/17 1:09am Veronica (OG):

Jeff, try acupressure for your headache once you start playing music again: www.wikihow.com...
Avatar    Mon. 7/17/17 1:12am Webhamster Henry:

Hi Jeff - I'm usually not up but I am now!
I like Träd Gräs och Stenar, have one of their old recordings (that I got at the Rec Fair) with their cover of the Fugs' Nothing!
  Mon. 7/17/17 1:13am MONEYBAG$:

the best dark star is the one they haven't played yet, man
Avatar Mon. 7/17/17 1:15am Jeff Conklin:

I could never answer that, really. It was such a mutating tune. I'll say the one I've listened to the most and that I never tire of is the version found on Live/Dead. Most 72-73 Dark Stars are incredible.
Avatar Mon. 7/17/17 1:15am Jeff Conklin:

Thank you , Veronica
  Mon. 7/17/17 1:15am MONEYBAG$:

you want a good one, 9-24-72
  Mon. 7/17/17 1:15am Mark R:

This track with all the umlauts is very cool.
Avatar Mon. 7/17/17 1:17am Jeff Conklin:

My father may have been at that 9/24/72, or maybe the night before, he's not sure....
  Mon. 7/17/17 1:17am tuner fish:

Thanks for the Dark Stars. I've never really been into it but I keep thinking "I don't think I've heard the best versions"
Avatar Mon. 7/17/17 1:17am Jeff Conklin:

@Mark: Umlaut Rock

  Mon. 7/17/17 1:20am Carmichael:

Ok, I am quite enjoying this. Coming out of my trance to comment.
Avatar Mon. 7/17/17 1:21am tuner fish:

sweet, I will listen to those!
Avatar Mon. 7/17/17 1:23am tuner fish:

Has anyone heard John Oswald's remix/epic collage of Dark Star?
  Mon. 7/17/17 1:23am brubru:

Live/Dead has the most orgasmic The Eleven I've ever heard in my life. I have busted many a nut listening to it, and if anyone knows of any better I will tip my hat in your direction
  Mon. 7/17/17 1:27am Eartha Lime:

Hi from Bay Area. (and thanks!) Saw Meg Baird last night at Swedish American Hall in SF. She was really great. Looking forward to her show at Music Hall in SF August 2 with Heron Oblivion.
  Mon. 7/17/17 1:27am zenkoan:

brubru: too much information
Avatar Mon. 7/17/17 1:27am Jeff Conklin:

Oswald's thing is cool but not the place to start.

What zenkoan said
  Mon. 7/17/17 1:30am Carmichael:

Hey Eartha, I'm in Sacramento. I was trying to get there last night, but crappy schedule. Hope it was an excellent show.
  Mon. 7/17/17 1:32am Carmichael:

  Mon. 7/17/17 1:34am Eartha Lime:

Hey Carmichael,
Conklin hep'd me to Meg through magic of real radio. See the other show.
  Mon. 7/17/17 1:36am Carmichael:

August 2nd? That's close to birthday time ... :)
  Mon. 7/17/17 1:36am ziL:

This is the 4/4 over the 6/8 beat... Bill loves this!
  Mon. 7/17/17 1:37am tuner fish:

Bill sounds so good in the '72 shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 7/17/17 1:50am sinister dexter:

hey Jeff thanks for the sounds ... greetings from Grand Rapids Michigan
  Mon. 7/17/17 1:51am Mark R:

Love this "Other One." Have never heard an "Other One" I didn't like, actually. But this one seems particularly sharp--they seem extra telepathic. By the way, I'm a little late to the party, but I just picked up our own Jesse Jarnow's "Heads"--a biography of the psychedelic movement--and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Dexter, I'm from Michigan, originally, too! Miss going to Glen Arbor in the summer.
  Mon. 7/17/17 2:01am zenkoan:

Note that it's all well and good for Jeff to share with us about his own throbbing body part, because it's his show.
Avatar Mon. 7/17/17 2:07am Jeff Conklin:

Hey now I keep everything above the belt!
  Mon. 7/17/17 2:09am zenkoan:

Glad you're feeling better now
Avatar Mon. 7/17/17 2:09am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

I'm cracking up imagining Jeff deciding to change his on air persona to a crass shock jock style.
  Mon. 7/17/17 2:16am brubru:

woah this celtic song is jammin
  Mon. 7/17/17 2:18am Stefan:

Good Morning Jeff & listeners
  Mon. 7/17/17 2:19am Mark R:

"Dust on the Nettles" is a lovely collection. A lot of folks I've never heard of mixed in with some of the more famous, expected British folk groups. Stellar.
  Mon. 7/17/17 2:30am Clint:

Hey Dexter and Mark, I'm from Michigan too. Living in Nevada now. Hello from out here. Hell of a show, Jeff!
  Mon. 7/17/17 2:44am brubru:

most of this shit aint on spotify. Consider me forlorn
Avatar Mon. 7/17/17 2:45am Jeff Conklin:

what's spotify
  Mon. 7/17/17 2:46am Mark R:

Joni's always welcome. I think we have to face the fact that we won't be hearing any new music from her. I'm happy she's still alive, and I'm grateful for the amazing catalog she's left for us to remember her by long after she's gone.
  Mon. 7/17/17 2:48am Mark R:

This Youngbloods album was one of the first albums I ever bought!
  Mon. 7/17/17 2:49am Eartha Lime:

Nice to hear the Joni, only hear the Fairport of that one usually.
  Mon. 7/17/17 2:53am brubru:

ill be back next week jeff
Avatar Mon. 7/17/17 2:56am Jeff Conklin:

Glad to have you, brubru.

Thanks for hanging, all. Take care and I'll see you down the road...
