Loving this Horse Lords track! Hi Mary and the rest of y'all.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 12:16pm Mary Wing:

Hi doctorjazz, happy Wednesday to all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 7/5/17 12:24pm doctorjazz:

I think I have to get this Alice Coltrane CD.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 12:27pm Mary Wing:

I think I do, too.

Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 12:37pm Mary Wing:

Hi Jake! How was your July 4th?
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 12:45pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 12:53pm glenn:

i'm gonna listen to the ball game and make wise ass comments.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 12:55pm Mary Wing:

Hola coel and glenn! Who's playing ball today?
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 12:56pm glenn:

jays and the devils spawn, a.k.a. the yankees.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 12:57pm Mary Wing:

Heh. Are they here or there?
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 12:58pm glenn:

hmmm. my here is your there, and vice versa.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 12:58pm glenn:

yankee stadium, anyway.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 1:00pm Mary Wing:

So they're here and there, evidently.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 1:01pm glenn:

six of one, half a dozen of the other.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 1:07pm glenn:

for everyone who has ever asked themselves "why is 5,000 year old roman cement still standing, and the modern stuff is shite", which i know is all of you; www.theguardian.com...
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 1:17pm βrian:

It seems like everything we build now is intended to be scrapped in 30-40 years, so why would we want good concrete?
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 1:17pm βrian:

I want that stuff for my driveway, though.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 1:19pm glenn:

you just need a good source of volcanic ash. easy peasy.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 1:20pm βrian:

How much did the Romans build in areas with heavy freezes, I wonder.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 1:29pm northguineahills:

Well, not all volcanic ash has the same mineral content. However, the Mediterranean Basin is loaded w/ the right tuff (yes, that's the correct geological term).
  Wed. 7/5/17 1:32pm JakeGould:

Late response: I slept a lot on the 3rd and 4th. Had a nice hamburger. Did not see formal fireworks this year but got to see a nice array of illegal ones in my neighborhood.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 1:39pm Rosie:

tuned in just in time for Kosmischer Laufer - loved those albums, must get the live thing!
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 1:42pm Mary Wing:

Hullo brian, ngh, and Rosie, glad to have you here/there today!
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 1:44pm northguineahills:

sounds like 90s UK post-ardcore, but is actually Dutch 2000s....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 7/5/17 1:46pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Mary and fireworks survivors. I'd like to request you play whatever, please.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 7/5/17 1:46pm Stanley:

Is it safe to come back in, now?
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 1:50pm Mary Wing:

I think so, Stanley; but hide under the bed, just in case.
Ken, did you go to the garbacue?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 7/5/17 1:55pm Stanley:

Mmmmm...it's nice under here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 7/5/17 1:56pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Yes, came down early and help Matt & Scott with some setting up. Had a really fun time. Met some very nice WFMU people (is there any other kind?).
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 1:57pm Mary Wing:

Was it super-crowded by the river?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 7/5/17 2:07pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I drove down on the west side of the Hudson and through Hoboken and didn't go near Exchange Place. The roads were pretty empty at 8AM. Streets near the station were blocked off going home. I imagine that by nightfall, it must have been very crowded.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 2:16pm Parq:

I watched the JC fireworks from the NYC side, leaning on the rail at Battery Park. The view would probably have been better up by the WTC, but where we were was just fine. Less crowded, to say nothing of more haimishe, than the Macy's shindig.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 2:23pm Mary Wing:

How long were you out there, Parq?
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 2:31pm northguineahills:

Well, Mary, I didn't think you could play something I couldn't like, but silky-smooth R&B reggae is it. It's a Venn diagram I can't comprehend.... :)
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 2:33pm Mary Wing:

I'd be okay with it, if it wasn't autotuned.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 7/5/17 2:33pm doctorjazz:

I liked it, go figure...but I like Rebirth better.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 2:39pm Parq:

We got to the battery at around 7:30. We had a beer and a snack and took our place at the rail at a little after 8:30. At 9:30, there were a few low-level displays that we couldn't see, and the airborne stuff started at about 9:40 and ended just shy of 10. We had some ice cream and then went home.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 2:39pm Parq:

Way digging this Ribot, by the way.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 2:46pm weinstein:

Yes! We are scrambling around over her but enjoying! Nice one Mary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 7/5/17 2:50pm Stanley:

I love this track and I see that she/they are on at Monty Hall, no less for all you lucky locals.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 2:51pm Mary Wing:

Hi David! I know you'll be ready in 9 minutes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 7/5/17 2:53pm Stanley:

A double 'bill'
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 2:54pm Mary Wing:

Pfffft. Heh.
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 2:57pm northguineahills:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 7/5/17 2:57pm doctorjazz:

Thanks, Mary!
Avatar Wed. 7/5/17 2:57pm geezerette:

Hiya! Smooth set! Digging the tranquility.
