I had a minor fracture of a bone in my foot many years ago which kept me from being able to drive or walk long distances for some weeks. It doesn't take much to throw a wrench in your normal routine and activities. Also, I broke the metatarsal bone just by getting out of bed! Put weight on a foot that was asleep.

Moral to the dog story: he could have easily have broken someone else's leg instead... and in that neighborhood, most of the other dog-owners were probably lawyers of some kind. So there's a very faint bright side (?)

Don't know how bones weren't broken in youth. At Easter family gathering a couple weeks ago, the story was recounted of how, in a moment of age 15 wicked smartness and Darwin Award audition, I used my sneakered forefoot to give the front bike wheel wingnut a little tightening check while zooming downhill. Toe in spokes, ass over teakettle and over bicycle, HARD decent-velocity landing slide. Bloody scrapes and SORE forefoot.

OOO! Another injury story that still affects me to this day! When I was 12, I slammed my left index finger in a car door and injured the tip so badly that it's permanently deformed and I still have chronic pain in it. It hurts right now, as a matter of fact, after 10 YEARS! Typing's a bitch. I had to have the blood drained from it with a needle, and to this day that's the worst pain I've ever felt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm

@Parq: I just had a minor medical procedure yesterday morning (a blood draw, which is an ordeal for me requiring downers and lidocaine) and I'm *still* coming down from the big dose of Xanax they gave me. Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm

Worst pain? I've had three separate retinal detachments. To reattach, it's a needle in the eye, followed by some kind of supercold cryo freezing stick that cauterizes the spot where the retina came loose. I preferred being knocked out and operated on, which happened the very first time (as it was an emergency situation).

Never really listened to Nas before -- based on that, he's not bad for a mainstream rapper at all. Is the rest of his stuff that decent? I usually don't dig the mainstream -- too much materialism & misogyny -- but that was almost reminiscent of more underground sounds like Blackalicious or Killer Mike, or Billy Jam type sounds.
