Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Got any Neubauten back there to chase that Faust with? I need some Blixa Bargeld screaming in my earbuds to drown out the stupidity and repetitiveness of my day "job."

Avatar    Tue. 5/2/17 3:49pm Wild Neil:

PEACE all. Oh my God Polyus, I flew into Heathrow one time from California and when I got on the shuttle bus out to another terminal I thought I would have a heart attack watching people drive the wrong way.

Avatar    Tue. 5/2/17 4:00pm Bronwyn Bishop:

lol i know, "what the fuck's a triffid" is a rocky horror callback
Avatar Tue. 5/2/17 4:03pm Cecile:

I think that was 1986.
Avatar Tue. 5/2/17 4:04pm Cecile:

Yup!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/2/17 4:06pm Threemoons:

That particular line was NOT a RHPS callback in my region back in the day...and I've seen it 40+ times...
Avatar    Tue. 5/2/17 4:13pm Bronwyn Bishop:

well, it is in the ithaca college version of rocky circa 2012-2015

Bronwyn B: oh! haha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/2/17 4:19pm Threemoons:

Avatar Tue. 5/2/17 4:28pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

i am saying hello.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/2/17 4:31pm Threemoons:

Bronwyn--I loved all of the music stuff happening then. I lived in Risley; bunch of great musicians there. :) Only place I knew where in one practice room you could have a guy playing a for-real restored harpsichord and two doors down, a thrash/punk band riffing on Bauhaus. Cornell was also where I discovered Philip Glass. If I ever get around to it I should copy some of my mix tapes and send them over to the station... :D
Avatar Tue. 5/2/17 4:31pm geezerette:

Rev TD: hello back. :D
Avatar    Tue. 5/2/17 4:32pm Bronwyn Bishop:

threemoons, if you send them i'll play them :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/2/17 4:33pm Threemoons:

Bronwyn--oooh, now I gotta find some blank cassettes--do they even sell them anymore?
Avatar    Tue. 5/2/17 4:35pm Bronwyn Bishop:

that i don't know!
Avatar Tue. 5/2/17 4:36pm geezerette:

speaking of Pig-Dogs, friend of mine was walking in Santa Monica,(AKA "The West Side") and saw a small blond woman walking a 140 lb. Vietnamese Pot-bellied Pig. Said she was a "Pig-Walker". Yes, really.
Avatar Tue. 5/2/17 4:38pm TDK60:

3 Moons. Cassettes are still made but not always sold in electronics- or music stores. I find them often in a neighborhood bodega (=cornershop =convenience).
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/2/17 4:38pm Threemoons:

Bronwyn, yes, Spamazon haz apparently! Gotta go home, blow the dust off of my 4 cases of tapes and see if they are on 1-hour to a side or 90 min/side so I get the right ones.

Not to be the oldest fart in the building but a few of those tapes include station identifiers for WLIR....
Avatar    Tue. 5/2/17 4:40pm Bronwyn Bishop:

@threemoons: awesome :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/2/17 4:41pm Threemoons:

Bronwyn--also go see/plug "Dare to be Different"==documentary RE WLIR. I went to the launch at the Tribeca Film Festival, and also got to see The Alarm, A Flock of Seagulls, and Dave Wakeling of the English Beat perform live!!! Wakelking was amazing, btw, just him and a guitar, solo...
Tue. 5/2/17 4:44pm ken in munich:

Dale--My Mom grew up in the Bronx across the highway from a Cafe Bustello coffee roasting facility. To this day, my Mom loves the smell of a freshly-opened can of coffee; it reminds her of opening the windows in the summer....
