Cool Procol Harum, haven't heard it in a long time (as opposed to the usual, which I generally haven't heard at all).

An ape with a red cape and a walking stick: I'm so behind the evolutionary fashion curve.

Goddammit! I'm in! Made a late pledge to your show last week. Just letting you know so you know I care. Keep it weird!
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 12:14pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Nick!

Saw that pledge -- thank so much!!!

... and Murph's the Smurf....
Avatar    Tue. 3/28/17 12:34pm Nick S.:

He's a hitmaker. He reminds me of R. Stevie Moore in that lighthearted, yet intellectual take on pop. Super talent!
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 12:35pm Tony Coulter:

Here are some chimpanzee-like vocals for our ape overlords.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/28/17 12:37pm Parq:

Gee, it's been a long time since I've heard Ellen McIllwaine. Her "I Don't Want to Play" was a big FM hit in Boston in the mid 70s. I saw her at Passim's in Cambridge around then.
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 12:39pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Parq! I'm a big fan of her '70s stuff. Also like her early psych band, Fear Itself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/28/17 12:46pm JtotheK:

hi tony, greetings everyone.
Avatar    Tue. 3/28/17 12:46pm Nick S.:

Greets, NGH! You only have one mum....
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 12:51pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, hey, βrian!
  Tue. 3/28/17 12:56pm Dean:

This Yximalloo is fantastic. Are all the records this good? Reminds me, too, to acquire the Fallopian Disco Force records.
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 12:59pm Tony Coulter:

@ Dean: Yeah, I really like all of Yximalloo's stuff -- tho some are pretty different from what we were just hearing. He's been releasing stuff since the early '80s. He categorizes what we just heard as "hip hop" (no comment).
  Tue. 3/28/17 12:59pm Dean:

Hip hop? I would have guessed Flamenco.
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 1:00pm βrian:

I was going for straight-ahead jazz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/28/17 1:04pm listener james from westwood:

corking first hour! I'm unwinding my brain from conference mode so this is working quite nicely.
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 1:04pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, James!
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 1:09pm βrian:

The Squatters, perhaps?
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 1:13pm Tony Coulter:

Or maybe "The Transients"?
Avatar    Tue. 3/28/17 1:17pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Hey Tony and all. Been enjoying the show on my phone app & VTuner. Just opened on my laptop and love the Japanese primates ( pre-anime?). Presume Spazz gave the blessing to utilize the Simian motif?
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 1:20pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Kevin!

Yes, those apes are Spazz-approved, I'm sure....
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 1:22pm Tony Coulter:

He can never say no to an ape.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/28/17 1:23pm Webhamster Henry:

I like this one!
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 1:24pm Tony Coulter:

Yes, Foussat is great! Very distinctive and imaginative....
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 1:27pm Tony Coulter:

And what I love about FMU ls that I can play Vanilla Fudge and Jean-Marc Foussat in the same show and everyone takes it as completely normal. (Which it should be.)
Avatar    Tue. 3/28/17 1:35pm Nick S.:

I just ordered this Warner. Thanks!
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 1:37pm Tony Coulter:

Yeah, it's nice it got a reissue -- the original is super rare.
Avatar    Tue. 3/28/17 1:38pm Nick S.:

There's Stevie! Warner was a great price, too!
Avatar    Tue. 3/28/17 1:45pm Sem Chumbo:

Eerily familiar but I've never heard this before.
NIce spin here, TC.
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 1:50pm Tony Coulter:

@ Sem: Part of that Tonchos Pilatos reminds me of something off of Beefheart's "Safe As Milk." Perhaps that's it? Or perhaps they are the soundtrack of your dreams.....
Avatar    Tue. 3/28/17 1:56pm V Priceless:

Avatar    Tue. 3/28/17 2:03pm Sem Chumbo:

I'll buy into the dreams suggestion.
Though have been a Beefheart fan since the time I was riding home over back country roads in the back of a speeding pick-up after a long summer day on a church roof with the rest of the roofing crew, a total eclipse of the sun happening, and "Big-eyed Beans from Venus" cranking on a local (usually) country music station.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/28/17 2:09pm doctorjazz:

What a transition, to Johnny Rivers, love it! (Only on FMU).
Avatar    Tue. 3/28/17 2:10pm Nick S.:

Fuckin' rich guys....
Avatar    Tue. 3/28/17 2:10pm V Priceless:

Rivers rules
Avatar    Tue. 3/28/17 2:11pm Nick S.:

Always used to think she should've told Rivers to fuck off for feeling this way.
Avatar    Tue. 3/28/17 2:12pm Nick S.:

I mean, you get the impression he's resolved to the po side of town.
Avatar    Tue. 3/28/17 2:13pm Nick S.:

Left side of headphones on that Rivers song is just backup vox and flute.
Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 2:22pm Tony Coulter:

He couldn't afford anything else, since he's from the poor side of town.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/28/17 2:31pm listener james from westwood:

"We're not the droids you're looking for" got a laugh out of this Star Wars geek.

Avatar Tue. 3/28/17 2:40pm Tony Coulter:

He's a member of Macromassa: www.discogs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/28/17 2:42pm northguineahills:

oh, that does ring a bell, thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/28/17 2:45pm northguineahills:

I remember buying this comp just for the SY track, yes, I was still in HS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/28/17 2:49pm listener james from westwood:

This SY track also appeared in a not-tremendously-successful horror film called "The Frighteners" 2 years or so after this comp. Character put it on LOUD to try and jam what he thought were psychic assaults.

And that's a good thang!
