Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi Charlie! Keep the Nothing Coming!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Webhamster Henry:

Theres a Joe Frank episode "No Show" .. oh, so meta!
Avatar 12:25pm Michael:

"A show about nothing!"
  12:25pm Listening Out There:

The theme is Trump, of course. In Trumptime, facts mean nothing. The program is Busy Doing Nothing...
Avatar 12:26pm Jeff:

Hamish Kilgour who... painted the WFMU 5th-floor dome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Webhamster Henry:

I made up those two-letter show codes decades ago, when i was doing these playlists by hand! There's never been any reason not to add a few more letters, but : History.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Charlie:

Hi Henry! Jeff!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm doctorjazz:

This Cate Le Bon has the most jarring chords, love it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Charlie:

dr jazz -- this album and her newer album are both non-stop great
Avatar 12:33pm Jeff:

WhH: soon we will run out, and then Radical Steps (like another character) will need to be Taken. (Numeric digits may appear first)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm doctorjazz:

Have Mug Museum, it is great, have to check out the newer one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Charlie:

It's called Crab Day
Avatar 12:38pm Jeff:

That Joan Armatrading song reminded me of a time I saw her on a double bill with Graham Nash. Much of the audience seemed to fall into three broad categories: old hippies, lesbians, and middle-aged African American couples. I was pretty sure I knew which act each group was mostly there for.

(I didn't quite fit into any of those categories, oddly enough. I went mostly to hear JA.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Webhamster Henry:

Jeff: It's like going to Ipv6. Of course, there are 676 two-letter combos, but a lot of the desirable ones are taken already.
Avatar 12:41pm Jeff:

Yeah, we're already well into a bunch of shows where the code has absolutely no mnemonic relationship with the show's title or host.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Parq:

This may be the most "accessible" Ubu I've ever heard.
  12:48pm Listening Out There:

BDN is a member station of the RFC (Radio Free Charlie) Network...
  12:51pm Tamar:

I love that Pere Ubu album, too, Charlie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Charlie:

Hi Tamar! You tuned in at just the right time:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Jeff Golick:

Hellooooooo.
  12:56pm Tamar:

Well, I wish I had tuned in a bit earlier, but there's always the archives.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Charlie:

Hi Jeff G!
Avatar 1:03pm Lewis:

Hello to all you nothing-doers!
Avatar 1:04pm annie:

i'm in attendance, sleepy, but upright. i want pizza.. or a calzone. any of you deliver?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Webhamster Henry:

Charlie: (speaking of themes) I hope you caught McGasko's Surface Noise show Monday, which was rather like (and included cuts from) your "Count Me In" Premium CD.
  1:08pm testingwithfire:

Hi Charlie and company. I am having turkey and stuffing for lunch, thereby ensuring myself an afternoon of Doing Nothing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Charlie:

hello, Lewis and annie -- nice to see you:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Charlie:

Henry -- I am aware of Joe's number-driven show, but haven't had the time to listen yet
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Charlie:

testingwithfire -- sounds good! looking forward to lunch myself:)
Avatar 1:22pm βrian:

Potato chips with ketchup for lunch — soon to be approved for the school lunch program.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm doctorjazz:

Made me feel like I should never had quit the accordion when I was a kid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Charlie:

doctorjazz -- here's the video of the three guys playing melodicas: www.facebook.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Webhamster Henry:

It's three guys on Melodicas and the Internet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm doctorjazz:

ORNETTE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Charlie:

ßrian -- yes, according to Reagan, ketchup was to be considered a vegetable.
Avatar 1:30pm βrian:

Well, then it seems likely the pumkinFuhrer will proclaim it vitamin-laden ambrosia.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm doctorjazz:

I had no clue what this tune by the Orange Cardigan was until about half way through.
Avatar 1:37pm βrian:

Oh my, I misspelled pumpkinFuhrer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm listener james from westwood:

There's a short motif in the Lord of the Rings soundtracks that is such a deliciously blatant steal from that part of the Rite of Spring that I can't even be mad. But as Stravinsky himself has often been misquoted as saying, "Good artists copy; great artists steal."
Avatar 1:42pm βrian:

I've heard similar within the the Japanese marital arts tradition. The only way to learn good technique is to steal it from one's teacher.
Avatar 1:42pm mauri:

uu lovely songs
Avatar 1:44pm βrian:

The song of the randy priest.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Charlie:

hi mauri :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Webhamster Henry:

Bringin' gifs?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Charlie:

james -- well igor stole from himself too! often did minor re-orchestrations so he could re-copyright works.
Avatar 1:46pm βrian:

He stole shamelessly from his brother, eye-gore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Jeff Golick:

Super artists steal steel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Charlie:

Moltar requested this Sebadoh instrumental.
Avatar 1:49pm βrian:

This reminds me of the Elmer Fudd "Weed" poster I once saw at the public library.
Avatar 1:51pm ndbob:

excellent show Charlie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Parq:

@1:46, βrian: What Humperdinck?
Avatar 1:55pm βrian:

"Wheremin!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Parq:

@1:47, Charlie: Moltar: "Cool - Sebadoh!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks, Charlie!
Avatar 1:59pm βrian:

Ok, I'll finish: "There! Theremin!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Charlie:

Thanks all! See you next time! Stay tuned for Matt...
