@McGuffin-somebody has been looking for you, they got chased by a biplane in a cornfield...it was really scary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 7/21/16 3:12pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Greetings, Fabio and failing students.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 7/21/16 3:14pm JtotheK:

good afternoon everyone.
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 3:16pm MacGuffin:

Wild Neil, by the time such climaxic scenes occur, the macguffin has long since been forgotten. You knew that.
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 3:17pm MacGuffin:

(Is climaxic a word? What did I mean? You knew what I meant.)
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 3:19pm Wild Neil:

"Climactic" is what I knew you meant. Still, its cool to know that you are....here...at WFMU. Where else would you be, right?
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 3:21pm Wild Neil:

Suicide reminds me of the "Me and my Rhythm Box" from the movie Liquid Sky...the darker side of New Wave....although I understand they started earlier than that....
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 3:21pm MacGuffin:

What, then, is the adjective for things related to the climate?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 7/21/16 3:21pm JtotheK:

The 'Hitchcock by Truffaut' book goes into quite a bit of detail about the MacGuffin...good read!
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 3:22pm MacGuffin:

Oh, I know...'climatic'!
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 3:24pm MacGuffin:

Anyway, here we all are. Things are underway. The macguffin has done its work. That is all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 7/21/16 3:25pm Andrew Waterloo:

Ciao Fabio and Failure fanatics
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 3:28pm MacGuffin:

No, AW, 'meteorologic' is to 'weather' as 'climatic' is to 'climatic' as 'climactic' is to 'climax'...or should that be orgasmic?

ENOUGH!
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 3:29pm MacGuffin:

oops i meant climate

  Thu. 7/21/16 3:43pm Polyus:

Loop!
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 3:43pm Wild Neil:

I learned about Loop from Pandora. They are pretty awesome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 7/21/16 3:44pm Goatpuncher:

Ha ha, Aphex Twin, really? Is that one completely unrecognizable and seemingly perhaps not actually related to the original (as with Aphex Twin's remixes)?
Avatar    Thu. 7/21/16 3:49pm V Priceless:

apparently Vega was inspired to start a band after seeing The Stooges at the New York State Pavilion, on the grounds of the '64 Worlds Fair in Flushing (which I think was Iggy's first NY gig, in '70)...for those locals familiar with this totally alien-looking structure, which still stands, and is the subject of an excellent documentary called "Modern Ruin", it must have been a really cool & freaky place to see a rock & roll show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 7/21/16 3:51pm melinda:

@V-Priceless: no kidding! I've seen photos, never visited.
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 3:52pm geezerette:

His singing is like a kind of electronic shamanism;incantatory.
It's dark but beautiful and strangely pure. Never knew about him till this week and I'm finding his music compelling and singular.

  Thu. 7/21/16 4:24pm Goatpuncher:

Great gobbling glamours, this is excellent.
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 4:24pm Wild Neil:

@Fabio-is this Gate?
Avatar    Thu. 7/21/16 4:25pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

New to Gate. Seems to capture the best vibe of 80s loop/cassette culture. Reminded of many lovely things.
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 4:26pm Wild Neil:

This is truly great! I concur Rev.!! Its awesome...the drumming is really sublime.
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 4:26pm MacGuffin:

Thu. 7/21/16 4:43pm Dave in SoDak:

There was a band from Norway called Gäte (note the umlaut) in the 00's. Art school kids making kind of like, heavy Radiohead type stuff. Not bad. This is decidedly different but I like it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 7/21/16 4:44pm Andrew Waterloo:

Isn't there a drum and tuba black metal band called The Gate as well?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 7/21/16 4:48pm Andrew Waterloo:

yup... www.thegateofcthulhu.com...

I may end up getting this one next. Really wish I could go see Menche.
Avatar Thu. 7/21/16 4:50pm βrian:

Not an umlaut, apparently, but a ring: Gåte
It means "riddle" according to the Google.
Avatar    Thu. 7/21/16 4:53pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

yeh, I thought I might have heard of an older band called Gate which was in the whole kraut/eurock scene, but it could have been any of those, evidently..

This is putting the clergy in the headspace for Trevor Wishart's RED BIRD. A little dining music for later...
  Thu. 7/21/16 5:02pm Dean:

This reminds me of Charles Dodge's "Any Resemblance Is Purely Coincidental," with JLL substituted for Enrico Caruso.
  Thu. 7/21/16 5:16pm Dean:

..."this" being the Trythall. This, on the other hand (being the Aaron Martin), reminds me of Ingenting Kollektiv.
  Thu. 7/21/16 5:20pm Dean:

"Any Resemblance..." was '78, hence the substitution runs in the other direction. I suspect Dodge, too, was composing with razor blades.
