Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 12:27pm Michele:

Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 12:28pm mariano:

Hi Thomas, everyone!
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 12:29pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

Aww man, I knew I shouldn't have missed Bosh's show last night! Gotta check the archives
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 12:29pm coelacanth:

greetings Thomas! 'been looking forward to this fill-in.
...i may not be here 'till 3... i'm here now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 12:32pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Just in case I drop off the WFMU message boards and no one hears from me again, let me document the sequence of events:
Sunday - Bought bundle of red lettuce, removed the twist tie and put into refrigerator.
Monday - Put a portion of the lettuce into plastic container for lunch. Didn't eat it. Put into refrigerator in the evening.
Tuesday - Eating lettuce now. I don't detect listeria or other life-threatening problems. Wish me luck!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 12:33pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Godspeed, Ken!
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 12:33pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

I'm sure it's fine Ken from HP, a little listeria's good for the immune system anyway right?
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 12:34pm coelacanth:

good luck Ken. it's your wreckless adventures that let you know you're alive!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 12:36pm sphere:

it might be psychedelic lettuce. you never know!
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 12:37pm coelacanth:

...at least Thomas' programs aren't dangerous for your brain anymore.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 12:37pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

sphere I think that only happens with rye bread. Good ol' St. Elmo's Fire giving those medieval monks all sorts of ecstatic visions! (and occasional gangrene)
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 12:44pm Bosh:

This is SO GOOD.

Digging the bejeezus out of this stuff. Keep it coming.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 12:45pm Cheri Pi:

What in the sam hain is this joyful noise???
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 12:45pm coelacanth:

Ken, i drank a quart of cherry juice last week. the top was popped already when i opened it. i tried a little. it wasn't tangy so i drank about a cup. i didn't die so the next day i drank about 2 cups...& so on.
'shit's expensive! - and i don't think the lid could've been loose for too long. (though i don't know what i'm basing that on.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 12:47pm Greg from ZONE 5:

This is a highly danceable installment of the Thomas Storck Radio Programme…

Mr. Thomas - I will catch this on the archive! Looking forward to it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 1:03pm Ken From Hyde Park:

So far, so good after eating yesterday's lettuce. Maybe I'll help myself to a couple of those green hot dogs that were in the break area earlier today.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:04pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

Green processed meat products. What could possibly go wrong?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 1:09pm sphere:

in my office, we call them "death dogs."
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:14pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

I heard St. Elmo and the Death Dogs are gonna be playing a show at Monty Hall in a couple months.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:14pm βrian:

Cogito, ergot rye?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 1:14pm Michael 98145:

just hope they haven't touched peanuts
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:15pm βrian:

Wow, the comments functionality has been mangled? Ick.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:17pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

I think it's so they can put video streams on the playlist and not have them restart when you post a comment. Personally I like it.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:18pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Brian, something not working well for you with new commenting?
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:20pm βrian:

Sorry, but it's about as user-friendly as a broken knuckle. Have you tested with js turned off? And a pop-up window? Dear me, ground-hog day in the late 90s!
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:24pm Chris M.:

just tuned in great to hear this band again
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:26pm geezerette:

David Nance Band knocking me out!!!

Hey gang,working in background,greetings!
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:26pm coelacanth:

this band is Hot!
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:27pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

βrian, maybe you could ask nicely for an option on our profiles to use the old style comments, or something like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 1:29pm maestroso:

New comment system? (trying it out)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 1:30pm maestroso:

Oh. Worked fine for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 1:31pm Joe D.:

John Allen made me buy both David Nance LPs and I regret nothing and neither should any of you
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:32pm coelacanth:

this pop-up comment thing is more logical than the more-steps-than-necessary old way...but i think the pop-up should be much bigger, so a long-ish comment will fit; and so scrolling wont be necessary to make pre-post edits.
(just the opinion of a pariah)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 1:34pm Chop Scott:

Thomas! So great to hear you on air--Cheers!
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:36pm coelacanth:

that fucking ruled!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 1:37pm Joe D.:

this tape is also sooo good
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 1:38pm sphere:

the David Nance band is plenty fierce. thanks!
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:43pm Thomas:

Hey, everybody!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 1:43pm Summer and Michael:

This David Nance stuff is amazing. Great show, Thomas!
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:45pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

coelacanth, I think there's some tradeoffs to keep in mind, we don't really want a lot of essays getting posted on the comments board, but we also don't want to turn this into TwitterYouTubeFaceBork either.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:49pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Hey βrian, I'm in the midst of improving the no-Javascript behavior.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:51pm coelacanth:

Cliff, you think having a small pop-up window is intended to curb long posts? it's not, and it wouldn't; and i doubt anyone at fmu wants to do that - as it's not a problem.
...and, to be honest, i don't understand the twit er-etc. reference.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 1:52pm thedunkel:

Thomas Storck EXTRAVAGANZA at Monty Hall??
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 1:56pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

I just meant, I think they're trying to balance speed & length of posting, without having any one commenter dominating (I've been called out on this before, I'm easily excitable sometimes :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 2:04pm Michael 98145:

nothing wrong with that, Cliff
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:09pm coelacanth:

i understand; but i think your post @1:17 was on target, and the primary reason for change. there may be compromises- of course; but i doubt Ken or anyone is concerned about long comments. and this change cannot have any effect on someone dominating the board.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:09pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

Yeah, I generally wait 2 minutes or so before posting something new (exceptions being People Like Us and Shut Up Weirdo, those shows have more of a rapid-fire-zinger thing going on)
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:13pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

Station Mashgiach Ken actually had to tell me one time during his show to slow down on the posting speed :D
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:16pm coelacanth:

don't get me wrong - long, pointless, self-indulgent posts irk me as much as the next guy - because i have to scroll past them! there are a few commenters that i simply never read the posts of.
...i still don't think it's a problem; and they'd be lesser human beings if they wanted to reign-in "Lyle", for instants.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:17pm coelacanth:

hahaha! i'd like to see the comment board in which Ken told you that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 2:18pm sphere:

Where do you get these marvelous musical toys, Mr. Storck? :P
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 2:18pm thedunkel:

Low Jack sounds like Aaron Dilloway…
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:22pm Thomas:

I think I learned of Low Jack from listening to Jack Mello's show
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:22pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@βrian 1:20: It's now a bit better with JS turned off.
@coelacanth 1:32: Scrolling now less of an issue for pre-post edits.

Historical record on the slow-it-down debate: For what it's worth, an original design goal of mine years ago (before it was as dynamic as it is now) was to stall the listener's return to the playlist page, because your comment wasn't going to be there quickly enough for you to see if you weren't a bit impeded.
A second reason for the extra steps was to impede a certain class of spam bots, and is to this day one of the reasons that these boards don't get overrun with spam.

Thanks for your feedback!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 2:23pm Definitely Not Lyle:

Long, pointless, self-indulgent posts... That reminds me of a tour back in 1972...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 2:24pm JP from KC:

Kind of defeats the point of the fake name when my avatar pic is still there, doesn't it...
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:24pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

(psssstt....Lyle might be a volunteer at the station...or even a DJ!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 2:25pm JP from KC:

BLASPHEMY! Why, Cliff, the very thought!
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:27pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

Sorry. Never mind me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 2:29pm JP from KC:

C'mon. We all know Lyle is approximately 95 years old, plays a mean bone, and lives in an undisclosed area that he probably thinks is way too humid.

You could always log out to post yer controversial comments, sans avatar!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 2:30pm Spambot Lyle:

Greetings! What did I miss? Anyone need a Viagra alternative?
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:30pm coelacanth:

haha! Thanks Kenzo. i was wondering when or if you'd comment on all this! that's good to know about the extra step part. i wasn't the only one who wondered.
Thanks (again) for all you efforts.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:32pm coelacanth:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 2:32pm Spambot Lyle #154230:

Remember Viagra kidz - You Only Die Once!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 2:34pm Michael 98145:

Yes, but you have to use separate bath tubs
  Tue. 6/14/16 2:36pm ChomskyViagraBot:

We will bring evidence in favor of the following thesis: an important property of these three types of EC suffices to account for the ultimate standard that determines the accuracy of any proposed Viagra. For any transformation which is sufficiently diversified in application to be of any interest, the fundamental error of regarding functional notions as categorial is not quite equivalent to the traditional practice of Viagrians. Furthermore, the earlier discussion of deviance is unspecified with respect to an abstract underlying Viagra. For one thing, the theory of syntactic features developed earlier appears to correlate rather closely with problems of phonemic and morphological Viagra. Thus a case of semigrammaticalness of a different sort cannot be arbitrary in the levels of acceptability from fairly high (eg (99a)) to virtual Viagra (eg (98d)).
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:36pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Is mock spam still spam?
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:38pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

We should ask Noam Chomsky (but give him some Viagra first)
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:38pm coelacanth:

not usually, but still annoying!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 2:39pm JP from KC:

Yeah, should've known to leave that bit alone. Nobody can compete with the numerous and oddly specific Chomskybots.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:41pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

If only somebody at the station could look up the IP addresses of the posters or something, then they could stop all that Chomskybot garbage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 2:43pm JP from KC:

Aww. I like Chomskybot! He's superfluous, yet endearing.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:44pm coelacanth:

funny JP!
...Cliff, i'm still wondering if the troll that started using my moniker a month or 2 ago got banned, via ip address. (i don't even know that Ken knew that part, but i doubt it was only me that got trolled.)
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:46pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

Sorry to hear about that coelacanth... Now I have even more reason to stay (mostly) logged in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 6/14/16 2:49pm JP from KC:

Wait, what? Are there any playlists with examples of this, Coelcanth? I don't remember that, but it may have been before I got active on the comments.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:55pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 2:57pm Cliff (moving to Prague!):

Thanks for the show Thomas! Sounds like your sensibilities cross with Daniel Blumin, Fabio, and Bosh.
Avatar Tue. 6/14/16 3:00pm coelacanth:

JP, it was around the beginning of may, but i'll have to get back to you.
Thomas i didn't think i'd be here 'till the end. all this self-indulgent, verbose commenting takes a big chunk out of my day.
