Howdy, I'm looking forward to another fine edition of Blurred & Obscured as I grapple with planned obsolescence. I've been copying old CD-R disks with audio & data to my hard drive to archive files, and 50% of the disks can't be read. So what better than listen to streaming WFMU!
Avatar Sun. 5/15/16 3:12am Jherweg:

Howdy Gang!!

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sun. 5/15/16 3:33am cklequ:

I just heard about OM closing shop.
The few times a year i actually make it to NY that was always one of my main destinations.
Avatar Sun. 5/15/16 3:36am greenlight:

nicely said. I dont want to live in world of digital music only either. yesterday I have spent whole afternoon browsing in 3 different record shops after some time (very hard to find them these days) what a nice afternoon, expect that I am broke again...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 5/15/16 3:40am Scraps deSelby:

It's not going to end up all streaming. Trust me. Okay, maybe you don't trust me; but I trust me, anyway.

hello everyone, hey john !
Avatar Sun. 5/15/16 3:43am Jherweg:

Its getting harder and harder and more expensive to get the music I want!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 5/15/16 3:52am Scraps deSelby:

And my god, thank you for, well, dissing Frank Zappa. I end up liking FZ than disliking him; sometimes he's very good, especially for composing, okay; if only I didn’t speak English, I would enjoy Frank Zappa’s later albums, like You Are What You Is. As it is, I give them to my intelligent, sarcastic 13-year-old cousin.
Avatar Sun. 5/15/16 3:55am Jherweg:

I have all those records but I hardly ever want to listen to them .
Avatar Sun. 5/15/16 3:56am Jherweg:

I mean sure the guy can play the shit out of the guitar but who cares it's souless and corny music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sun. 5/15/16 3:58am cklequ:

I've always loved Absolutely Free and We're Only In It For The Money. I partially blame my high school drug use for that. Other than those two, i don't have much use for Zappa.
  Sun. 5/15/16 4:05am P-90:

Intermittently

Insomniacs meet-up, I guess.
Avatar Sun. 5/15/16 4:17am Jherweg:

Hot Rats, Baby Snakes, and Zoot Allures are Zappa Albums I can get into... andrian Belew and Terry Bozzio are great...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 5/15/16 4:19am coelacanth:

hey there Sem!
  Sun. 5/15/16 4:21am P-90:

"Ship Arriving Too Late..." has some great stuff on it. "Live from The Roxy and Elswhere" is a classic. Some of "Joe's Garage" is quite good.
  Sun. 5/15/16 4:22am P-90:

When Harvey Keitel shows up at your space station, you know you're in trouble...

Couldn't get enough of Weasels when it came out, had never heard anything like it, but then I hadn't heard much of anything at that age.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 5/15/16 4:27am coelacanth:

hmm, Frank Zappa... 'seems to always be controversy.
...i remember hearing him for the first time when my older brother got absolutely freeeeeee in the late 60s and thinking (as a child, mind you) that it was pretty juvenile.
...but the invocation & ritual dance of the young pumpkin blew me away - and still does.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 5/15/16 4:45am Wretch:

I'm awake!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sun. 5/15/16 4:45am cklequ:

I'll send a jar of Adderall in lieu of cash next marathon if it'll keep you on the schedule.
Avatar Sun. 5/15/16 4:49am Jherweg:

Please do!
  Sun. 5/15/16 4:52am Kafuka:

I hope you will be in the new schedule with a new good slot for you. I can't image wfmu without this show, for me the best show. So, after excellent loss in the past (Ning Ning, dangerous for the brain) I don't wanna loose my favorite. I don't know who is the man that decide the new schedule, but you can tell him What listeners think.
Avatar Sun. 5/15/16 4:58am Jherweg:

It's my sublime Commentary that you love most of all kafuka ha ha ha
  Sun. 5/15/16 5:06am henry:

I stand with Kafuka wishing wfmu boss gives blurred and obscured a good spot.

  Sun. 5/15/16 5:10am marika:

hey Jon, I wonder if you'd be interested in the Estonian cult sci-fi film soundtrack from 1979 by Sven Grünberg: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTlISg0Oyv8

It"s hard enough for a record stores to survive. Rising rents can make it impossible
Avatar Sun. 5/15/16 5:45am greenlight:

I hope you guys find some job you like soon, plus Ning comming back. isn't Brian music director?
Avatar Sun. 5/15/16 5:54am greenlight:

sound collages, static his and plenty good unknown music is what radio trully means. not that mainstream commercial brainwashing radio stations I can not stand, makes me sick.
