Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 3/4/16 3:05pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@βrian - (From the conversation on Bryce's board.) The male owl fetches swamp rats and brings them to a nearby branch. The female owl then brings the dead rats to the nest and feeds them to the owlets. I learned that from the comments section of the owl cam page.

Evening Sheila, Boomers and Ken's owls… I ws never into Bikini Kill etc but The Punk Singer is such a good film. Loved the thing about getting everyone to let girls and women come down the front. So I'm only 20 years late…
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 3/4/16 3:11pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Contessa - Yay, cool. That was in reference to the same owl cam web page from last week.

@Adrian In London The Kathleen Hanna film is so unexpected and emotional. Cried my eyes out. She was a big idol of mine as a teenager.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 3:22pm listener james from westwood:

@Greg, was reminded of "Rosemary's Baby"'s theme with the harpsichords, but that works too! A revelation either way.

I loved this Lemonheads album so much back in the day. Every track was just so catchy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 3:42pm Cliff:

I don't think DJ Keili ever managed to do a prolonged outburst like that
  Fri. 3/4/16 3:43pm Cooh John:

Get Faye as a cohost for the marathon and do a whole shift in Japanese.
  Fri. 3/4/16 3:43pm P-90:

Yep, Sheila just out-nihongo'd Keili!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 3:43pm Adrian in London:

@Evan Yes, I only had it on a crappy home tape. *trudges off to Discogs…*
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 3/4/16 3:43pm JtotheK:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 3:44pm Swan_Gone:

Feel like I missed something real good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 3:44pm Gaylord Fields:

@djsheilab: I was just thinking about "The 81" yesterday, and its uncanny (and deliberate) similarity to Martha and the Vandellas' "In My Lonely Room"! Get outta my head!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 3/4/16 3:45pm JtotheK:

'in my lonely room' is a martha 45 i've yet to find '"in the wild".
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 3:45pm Gaylord Fields:

@Cliff: Keili once did an entire marathon show in Japanese!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 3:46pm Cliff:

  Fri. 3/4/16 3:46pm Ra:

Hi from Switzerland (if you want to put that tiny country on the map). Amazing show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 3/4/16 3:47pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I remember Keili's marathon show with Gaylord. She ate so much wasabi that day!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 3:47pm Cliff:

And she had to explain to the guests how to play the games on the air, all in Japanese, and then they had to wait for your translation. Yep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 3:48pm Gaylord Fields:

Keili told me post-show that my "translations" were surprisingly accurate, especially considering I don't understand Japanese.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 3:49pm Carmichael:

@Ra, I believe you could be our first Swiss commenter. Welcome!
  Fri. 3/4/16 3:49pm modchick65:

This sounds like "These Boots Were Made For Walking." Or another Nancy Sinatra song.
Avatar Fri. 3/4/16 3:49pm Todd-o-phonic:

I believe Jerry Blavat created the "81" dance...maybe he can teach it to you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 3:49pm Cliff:

I'm sure there were plenty of hand gestures involved in-studio
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 3/4/16 3:50pm Evan From Seattle:

Oh wow. Loving this Katty Line track
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 3:50pm Gaylord Fields:

@Cliff: I deliberately went into it not knowing what Keili would say, in order to add to the chaos.
  Fri. 3/4/16 3:51pm lpcoverlover:

Loving the show Sheila! xo
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 3:51pm Adrian in London:

Bang Gang here sounding pleasantly Alan Parsons-esque here and there. But amid their own sound.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 4:09pm Carmichael:

I was just gonna say this is very Parsons-ish. Specifically the song "Too Close to the Sun".

  Fri. 3/4/16 5:29pm wheatdog:

Hey Sheila did you go to the eight track Museum in Dallas ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 5:29pm northguineahills:

The LP exhibit, I went there! Christian Marclay, Thurston Moore, Arto Lindsey, Dj Spooky and more! Marclay's used various Whipped Cream and other Delights and ripoffs and parodies and used each album as a pixel to form images from afar. I loved that exhibit!

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 5:30pm Swan_Gone:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 5:39pm Swan_Gone:

@Sheila If you ever feel the need to drop a Patra jam that would be real cool with me
Avatar Fri. 3/4/16 5:40pm djsheilab:

What I'll do is play "Tick Tock" on one of my marathon shows. That's a good compromise, right? : )

Joe sounds a little quiet
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 5:49pm listener james from westwood:

Joe sounds like the producer in a record that dramatizes the production of a record.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 3/4/16 5:49pm Guido from Cologne:

sounds like telephone
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 5:50pm Adrian in London:

こんにちは DJ Joe McG!
  Fri. 3/4/16 5:51pm Brendan:

Joe you got to get rid of that tinny sound if you want some pledge money. Oz never did give nothing to the tin man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 5:51pm Cliff:

If you hadn't said that was Joe McGasko I wouldn't have had a clue, sounded like a tinny 1920's radio announcer
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 5:53pm Cliff:

Maybe WFMU can go all retro this marathon, tinny announcers and crank-up turntables
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 5:54pm Adrian in London:

@Cliff Just as long as the gentlemen announcers are wearing evening dress and the ladies are wearing ballgowns and silk gloves
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 5:56pm Cliff:

It's the 1920's, the ladies should be dressed as flappers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 5:57pm Cliff:

Now Joe sounds like Joe!
  Fri. 3/4/16 5:57pm P-90:

@listener james: Ha! Joe did sound like the trcord producer in a movie on the talkback intercom from the booth: "Jimi, can you turn the guitar down a little?"
  Fri. 3/4/16 5:57pm herb.nyc:

Oh joe m, ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/4/16 5:57pm Adrian in London:
