I confess. I confess to everything. I killed Mary Tyler Moore. I sold ammunition to John Wilkes Booth. I planted the demolition charges in the twin towers and I forgot the Maine. That flood that one time that swept away those people – that was me.

Guess who left the toilet seat up last night. Go ahead, guess. Yeah, that's right.

I'll sign whatever you want. Just take me back to my cell and let me watch my programs.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 4:21pm Rory:

Anybody wondering. The music behind Fabio's voice is from the band Blue Phantom - Distortions 1971.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 4:22pm mrdonutsu:

In the mid-80s I was working for The Landsburg Company - who you may know from such TV hits as That's Incredible, Those Amazing Animals and the feature film Jaws 3 - 3D.

At one point they were trying to develop a sitcom around Shelly Winters (The Shelly Show, natch) and I got the pleasure of dropping off and picking up stuff from Shelly personally.

Her house was really freaky - she had busts all over the living room on shelves of what I can only assume were all her former Hollywood lovers.

One time I had to pick up some sort of contractual paperwork from her and she couldn't find it and got all stressed out.

"Oh no, this is getting to be like reality..."

Needless to say, Shelly was not up to the rigors of sitcom production and I'm not even sure if the pilot ever got completed.

Good times!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 4:24pm Mutant:

I just realized that my copy of Tone Float is a boot. Oh well. I like that album better than the Kraftwerk stuff.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:26pm TDK60:

I still get a kick out of 'Autobahn' tho a younger friend said it sounds dated; (like I care.)
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:29pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

"sounds dated" ... is a bad thing? very confused.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 4:29pm Mutant:

I like Kraftwerk too, just not as much. I also recommend Harmonia.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:30pm glenn:

dated? this is a radio station where a guy plays century old 78s every tuesday evening
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:31pm TDK60:

"Dated" ain't a bad thing in my ears; I was talking about a friend's opinion.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:33pm dale:

mrdonutsu - acquaintance worked for the museum of television and went to interview shelley. said she did the whole thing in her bathrobe with it open. it as gal interviewer and shelley didn't see the big deal, but still.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:33pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

exactly. Just based on the stills from the recent Grammy awards thing representing what's not dated (not having seen the show, to be fair), I'll stick to dated. And this. Certainly this.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:34pm glenn:

i'm sorry, tdk, i realize now that came out as being critical of you. that wasn't my intention..
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 4:36pm cory:

i just listened to autobahn at work today. my coworker on salad bar was digging the fuck out of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 4:37pm Rory:

I never watch the Grammy awards. What's it like now? I don't pay attention too that contemporary bullshit today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 4:38pm cory:

i think it's about three hours
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:38pm TDK60:

I was at a dinner party and they turned the Grammys on. Most (not all) of the songs were ultra-whiney crap.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:38pm glenn:

"she's a model" works pretty well on 12 string guitar, by the way.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:39pm glenn:

or the model. whatever it's called.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 4:42pm Rory:

"Ultra-whiney crap." Pretty much sums up the mainstream today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 4:43pm Mutant:

I have no idea what the Grammys are supposed to represent. It seems like something from another planet. I have no knowledge of any of that stuff.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:45pm Swan_Gone:

I like K Dot. He was worth seeing.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:48pm coelacanth:

electric 6 did aversion of "the model" - mostly acoustic. (elec bass?)
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:49pm coelacanth:

yes, "aversion"...
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:52pm Cecile:

Kendrick Lamar and the opening scene from Hamilton were great. I don't like Taylor Swift, but I have to admit her opening number was well-presented. Didn't see the other stuff.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:52pm Swan_Gone:

I liked Tay Tay's acceptance speech.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:53pm Cecile:

The Grammys are like a stopped clock. Occasionally what I like and the public actually likes lines up with them. they have always been this way. In the 50s they ignored black music, in the 60s rock, in the 70s funk and punk, and on and on and on until the breaka breaka dawn.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:54pm Cecile:

Didn't watch that, but Lin-Manuel Miranda's and Kendrick's were great. Lin-Manuel's even rhymed.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 4:57pm geezerette:

Grammys have always been mainstream. This doesn't seem like a mostly mainstream group.
Yay for that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 4:58pm Ken From Hyde Park:

These lyrics I can understand!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 4:58pm cory:

i love what taylor had to say about kanye. she earned several cool points for calling him out
  Thu. 2/18/16 4:58pm Bill F.:

Fabio, what is this SUPER GROOVY background music?
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:00pm Cecile:

that album title sounds like an Elizabeth Taylor fragrance.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:01pm geezerette:

Whatta you guys think of the Bowie tribute by GaGa? Bet there are some strong opinions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 5:02pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Apparently, there are cases of whooping cough in the school district here. Must check vaccination records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 5:02pm Rory:

@cory awesome, somebody with $280 million net worth and somebody else with an $145 million net worth getting into to a feud because Kayne said something about Swift 2 years ago. Ahhh, rich celebrity problems.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:02pm Cecile:

I thought they should have just had Michael C. Hall and the cast of Lazarus sing "Lazarus" like they did on Colbert. It's one of his best songs, and it sums up his life. Otherwise, it should have been a clip show narrated by someone. I like GaGa, but I didn't really like that.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:03pm Cecile:

yeah, rory, ITA.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:03pm geezerette:

Agree with you Cecile.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 5:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Gaga's okay - but doesn't it just point up that people like Bowie did all that 4o years ago already - w/ inestimably more substance?
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:12pm Cecile:

I have to agree. I'd rather just someone with a great voice sit at a piano and do Bowie songs. Which could have been her! Just have her sitting in the white suit playing piano. Let the songs speak, because who is going to outdo Bowie for spectacle?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 5:13pm cory:

Rory, take a nap dude.

Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:16pm Cecile:

you too, cory!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 5:16pm Michael in Seattle:

Well said, Cecile. I think Gaga meant well, and does claim Bowie as an influence. But you are probably correct. That would have been a better tribute.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:17pm geezerette:

Rev Rab 63 & Cecile, exactly! It was like really bad performance art.
Which is most performance art.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:17pm Cecile:

Michael, I have no doubt it was done out of love and care. It just felt a little flat to me. But she looked like she was having a great time, and the audience loved it, so good for them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 5:18pm Michael in Seattle:

Heh. She probably has more fun than i do.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:19pm Cecile:

and it was better than the Lemmy tribute. :/
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:20pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

there was a lemmy tribute?
...i shudder at what wreckage that could have been...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 5:22pm Rory:

@ cory, take a nap? okay whatever. Have a swell evening sir!
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:23pm Cecile:

It was Hollywood Vampires (Johnny Depp Cooper, Duff from GNR, Joe Perry) doing one of their songs, and then going into Ace of Spades. I like them all in differing amounts, and if I saw the Vampires in a club, I'd have a good time. But their version was so slow and weary. It wasn't embarrassing, but it could have been so much better.

Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:24pm Cecile:

*sniff* I put this song on a tape for my late dad.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:25pm Whosondephone:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 2/18/16 5:39pm JtotheK:

gil evans has another lp on impulse -- into the hot. i only listened to that a handful of times. out of the cool was in constant rotation for me a few years ago.
Avatar Thu. 2/18/16 5:40pm Cecile:

damn, this sounds like me on the trumpet in middle school. You have to be good to play that bad deliberately.

I do like Into the Hot very much, JtotheK. It had Cecil Taylor on it.
