Hi Irwin et al!

Geez. After seeing the playlist photo, I won't leave a comment.

Good afternoon, all :)
  3:08pm
Listening Out There:

This Neil Cowley reminds me of The Bad Plus, down to the Dave King-style drumming. I like it, though...
  3:09pm
Listener Robert:

You'll notice in the photo that some people already recorded their own activities.
Avatar 3:15pm
Wild Neil:

@Irwin: Is Work in Progress on the docket for today, or is that next week?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm
Irwin:

Joe is next week. Two half-hour eps. Check IC playlist archives page.

jesus was a gay, socialist, jewish, muckraking, anti-establishment troublemaker. he embodied everything the religious right hates, so for the life of me, i can't figure out why they love him so much.

Don't believe I've ever heard "poked out his eyes" sung by anyone with such brightly casual energy.

Irwin, that was Click Kids song was Run Samson, Run.
Avatar 3:26pm
Wild Neil:

@Glenn-you claim Jesus was gay. Got any proof?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm

i hated that 'jefferson' bit on the grammys, but i like this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm
Irwin:

D-girl: you are correct. The tags on the downloads were all F'ed up. I fixed 'em but they're still F'ed up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm
Irwin:

Can someone find out the label for the Click's LP? SoundExchange needs to know.
Avatar 3:29pm
Linda Lee:

Irwin, discogs says Click Records.
Avatar 3:29pm
glenn:

hmmm. he was 33 years old, and never married, at a time when people got married at 14. just sayin'.
Avatar 3:30pm
Lewis:

I do enjoy a bit of the Professor...
Avatar 3:32pm
glenn:

besides, there's just as much proof that jesus was gay as there is proof that he was the son of god.
Avatar 3:33pm
Wild Neil:

@Glenn-you left one thing out-Jesus was pro-life. The left is pro-choice...

If Amanda is available to take on the job of Supreme Court Justice or President, I wholeheartedly support her decision.

Avatar 3:50pm
Wild Neil:

@Glenn-if you truly wonder about this I suggest you find an open minded right-wing Christian in your area and engage them with that question. You are likely to be surprised.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm
Goyim in the AM:

Holy schmoly just found Amanda's wedding picture on line. Va-va-VOOM.
  3:50pm
Listener Robert:

It was only the playing of her every show that I hated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm
Goyim in the AM:

(NB: fairly brief non-creepy googling lead me there.)
Avatar 3:52pm
Linda Lee:

~ i'm with LOT on the Amanda Question ~ cute the first few times ~ then not so cute ~
Avatar 3:52pm
glenn:

no, i don't care. i don't believe in god, and nothing will change that. and besides, there is no such thing as an open minded right wing christian, especially in my area.
Avatar 3:54pm
Wild Neil:

@Glenn-or not. Whatever, dude.
  3:56pm
Listener Robert:

Same with Amanda as with Jandek: OK as irritainment once per piece. Maybe a reminder once every other year. But not as regular punishment.
Avatar 3:57pm
Linda Lee:

should i be glad i don't know Jandek? i guess i am.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm
Irwin:

Jandek: thread-killer.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:05pm

unless Jandek is either proof of the existence of god or has proof jesus was gay...

Wild Neil:

What Wikipedia says about Jandek...en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm
Parq:

Interesting, there appears to be another Amanda Whitt (there are several of course, but I mean one in particular) who fancies herself an expert on coffee and has a crowdfunding campaign afoot to get her a TEDD Talk gig.
Avatar 4:08pm
Wild Neil:

Jandek uses special tunings of his own devising and is very secretive about who he is...among other things...
  4:09pm
Listener Robert:

He's a recording performer-composer whom Irwin built up an air of mystery about. I noticed recently a performance of his had been caught on video by Poopy Lungstuffing in Houston, figured Irwin might be interested, but fortunately he no longer is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm
Parq:

Oh Irwin, if you'd only known in 1988 (ca.) when you introduced Jandek ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
Irwin:

1988? 1978!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm
Parq:

Really? I don't remember him prior to the "Atrocious Music" segments, but I yield to your (obviously) superior knowledge of the point.
Avatar 4:13pm
MenfussMike:

I would be a secretive too if I was Jandek. Secretive and quiet.
  4:17pm
Listener Robert:

I don't even recall him from the Atrocious Music segments, just Irwin playing him "straight", until one day in the last decade Irwin pronounced Jandek no longer cool, to the relief of the audience.
Avatar 4:18pm
Wild Neil:

@Irwin-cool show, very eclectic yet listenable.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:29pm
chris:

Irwin, please resurrect your incorrect music segment... your show it too listenable these days. ;-)
Avatar 4:30pm
Wild Neil:

@Chris-honestly I hated some of it, but I try to put positive comments on her so as not to bum out musicians who come here to read comments about their work.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:31pm
chris:

that's great, Neil! lol
Avatar 4:32pm
Carmichael:

I actually enjoy Jandek and Amanda. They bring a strangeness and inventiveness to my otherwise formulaic and dreary musical world.

Jesus, I just sounded like Ben Fong effing Torres there. Sorry ...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:37pm
chris:

incorrect music (Irwin's show in general, for that matter) is curatorial excellence. at once historical and introspective. brilliant stuff.

Thomas is a great example. thanks, Irwin!
Avatar 4:38pm
MenfussMike:

I could have a beer with Thomas
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm
Irwin:

I think Thomas is already six beers ahead.
Avatar 4:39pm

I sure hope so.

I have been pondering Mrs Mitchell in the incorrect category. Comments any one?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm

Who?
Avatar 4:40pm

Didn't Thomas tour with Wings?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm

Thomas opened for Wing.

Hey Irwin, any info on John Moynihan? Great stuff, like a beatnik Liberace. Absolutely nuthin on-line about him (except this show's playlists, but of course.)

Thomas has a bit of an attention-span problem, too.

The seventh Beatle, after Klaus, Billy Preston....
  4:44pm
Laura L:

Thank you, Irwin, that was swell.
  4:46pm
Listener Robert:

I think Mrs. Miller got conflated with Martha Mitchell, who was indeed both incorrect & atrocious.
  4:49pm
Listener Robert:

Seriously, I mixed them up at the time.

This piece is rather Partchian.
