Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from November 24, 2015 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

@Mariano: Wow, just noticed the site redesign -- really hate it! I couldn't have loved the previous site design more and now it's gone. What a shame. It seems whenever I find something that's perfect, it doesn't last. Anyone agree or disagree? Remember, just 'cause it's new doesn't make it better.

i'm pretty sure i learned of laddio bolocko via psychic paramount.

Oh, cool. Ken performed down this way a couple of weeks ago. Live he's working with gongs these days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm
coelacanth:

i think it odd that when i came to the wfmu site today the old (slightly more user-friendly & less unattractive) main page came up.
(now the new one is back again)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm
chris:

as a software/web goober, i have a few criticisms of the site (on smaller displays, the site doesn't scale well, but that's easy to fix with some additional styling rules). there's far more i like. it should be extremely easy to theme/skin, maintain, scale. from a branding perspective, i think its a much fresher and contemporary feel. this is the birth of a promising new product, and as such, this is an adventure in eating their own cooking... in other words, its probably all the stuff we don't see that makes it worth the effort/discomfort. i'd wager, once everything is worked out and fine tuned, the new site will be well loved by nearly all of us. that's my armchair analysis and opinion...

Listener #28887561:

I would just say the new site feels a little colder and more clinical than the old site. It doesn't make me feel warm. Just my 2-cents. It's the black and white I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm
common:

i wish i knew about that stuff, chris. hey, i just poured a beer!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm
-Ken:

Yes, we had to put the old site back up for a few hours today while we fixed something. Still have many problems to work out on the new site and we'll be able to make changes more easily than on the old one. Thanks for everybody's patience with it.

Rev. Turnip Druid:

well spoken, chris.
dig.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm
coelacanth:

Thanks chris. i have no doubt that i'll get used it. but it seems to me there's now more steps to get to the alternate stream schedules and to the advanced search; and on my (13") monitor the right edge is cut off by a little over an inch.
...slight pain in the ass,but -yeah-SLIGHT. i'll adjust.
...that big black blob could use some color though.
Avatar 4:46pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

...speaking as an old-timer print designer who has neglected to learn the wicked ways of site architecture/design/data-feeding/maintenance, so all this stuff is just witchy weirdness to me.

As long as it works & keeps putting FMU in my head-holes, I'm destined to love it.

Also: A direct link to the Most Recent Archives on the homepage is useful. You get the er, most recent archives at a glance, but along with it you get a quick click-through to the archived playlist pages for each of the DJs on the current schedule. It's only one mouse-over-and-click than before, but I liked it the way it was. Waaaaaaaaaaahhh....
