@Sara N: No, just in live-concert footage and concert reviews. The experience looked much messier for that range of seats than Blue Man Group!
Avatar 3:50pm
Carmichael:

I picked up the phone to dial while F&S were playing. I said, "Well now, interesting accompaniment."
Avatar 3:50pm

@ Dean. That's cool.

Cool, sure, but I'm neither as attractive nor as talented as either or both of them.

Debbie Harry wasn't attractive for long. Ruined herself.
  4:21pm

Yeah, by Debbie Harry I suppose I mean Debbie Harry '76, which is unfair. But even then I wasn't as attractive, etc.
Avatar 4:21pm

My birthday also belongs to Mark Knopfler and George Hamillton.

DH...Not a very attractive personality either.
Avatar 4:22pm

Great music though.
Avatar 4:29pm

I think Debbie Harry wears the haggard look pretty well, compared to some. She'd probably still look quite stunning now without the kabuki make-up! True of so many women....
  4:40pm
Dean:

Similar story here re: Yes. I spied an 8-track tape of CttE in his beat-up VW beetle, asked to borrow it, and the rest is personal history. This was around '73/'74. Shared it with my buddies, with whom I shared tastes in pop and classical music.

A-l-m-o-s-t pulled the trigger on "Progeny," but can't quite justify the expense. I have a few Yes vinyl bootlegs of various vintages I enjoy. Those will have to do for now. Thanks for playing this.

LA's Westwood ain't what it once was, a hustle-bustle of shops and cafes south of UCLA, overrun with goddamn students, one of which used to be me. Maybe now that the economy is, for some, improving, the village is revitalizing, but my past couple of visits have been disappointing. Nearby, however, there's plenty to see and do in west LA, given sufficient time and money.
Avatar 5:36pm

@Doug: The town just next door, River Vale, where I mostly grew up, in fact used to be called Eastwood! They changed it after it spent too much time talking to furniture.
Avatar 5:40pm

@JfWW: Westwood in California is the LA suburbs. Not really known for anything other than UCLA. Time and cash better spent in the north, San Francisco or Sacramento Valley (where I am). Lake Tahoe's just a jig away, also.

@Dean: Thanks! In my one foray to Los Angeles, I didn't get into its environs. I did visit Venice, Santa Monica, Culver City, and many other burgs through which I drove while taking in the sights (inc. the Coroner's Office Gift Shop), but not as I recall the westmost Westwood.

  5:43pm

You could do hella worse than Culver City, Venice, and Santa Monica, @ljfw. Having grown up in an LA suburb, I beg to differ with Carmichael. Westwood at least feels like it's connected to the sprawl of westside LA, perched as it is on Wilshire Blvd., not far at all from Santa Monica, etc.

Clint Eastwood changed his name to River Vale, too.
