Single-ularly pleased to be here, Tony! How do all!
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 11:59am βrian:

Good old 17.78 cm singles. Nothing like 'em.

Heya. Nick, Listener James, & βrian!

Weirdness ahead -- in glorious scratchophonic sound...

Pledged in your honor, sir. Thanks, again!

Whoa, mashup from well before the Great Age of Mashups!
  Tue. 10/20/15 12:04pm Mike A:

Hey Tony, Hope all's been well. Looking forward to some subliminal weirdness.

Any 16 RPM records in your playlist? bloggerhythms.blogspot.com...
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 12:05pm Tony Coulter:

No, but there will be plenty of singles played at the wrong speed.
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 12:06pm Tony Coulter:

oh, and ... greetings, Kay!!
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 12:06pm βrian:

When wrong becomes oh so right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/20/15 12:06pm listener james from westwood:

Hah, one New Year's Eve, 1994 perhaps, one of the basic cable stations played like 8 hr of Banana Splits episodes. My friends and I hadn't seen these damn things since the mid-70s and we were HOOKED all night.
  Tue. 10/20/15 12:06pm Mike A:

There are so many records that sound better at the wrong speed; like this one right now.
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 12:08pm still b/p:

Had to clicky the Copeland...though not sure when I'd listen to it again except as something to show/play to someone else as if it were a weird frog I found.

MI theme always reminds me of it running in my head while running a wee Mustang from a cereal box around on the floor or bedcovers.

Phono ad sure wants the band to look Monkee-ish, yes?
Avatar    Tue. 10/20/15 12:10pm Nick S.:

ARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 12:10pm Tony Coulter:

The funny thing about that ad is that it superimposes two timeframes/places: It shows both a live band AND a record player blasting.
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 12:12pm Tony Coulter:

These two "lovers" sound like they're hyperventilating, not panting in ecstasy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/20/15 12:12pm doctorjazz:

Your record player IS AS GOOD as hearing/seeing the live band, at least that is what I'd guess the ad it trying to tell you...
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 12:12pm Tony Coulter:

Ahoy, doctorjazz!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/20/15 12:14pm Uncle Michael:

I don't *feel* tardy.
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 12:14pm βrian:

That's what's referred to as realistic audio imaging. Good speakers do that. (Certain, eh, dietary supplements can enhance the imaging, too.)
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 12:14pm still b/p:

Exactly. The record player brings the whole party-and-band-and-turtleneck-and-balloons right into your room and your experience whenever you want it!
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 12:15pm Tony Coulter:

Uncle Mikey!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 10/20/15 12:16pm Uncle Michael:

I pity the fool who doesn't pledge to WFMU's Mister T!
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 12:21pm βrian:

Wasn't there a Louis Armstrong sound-alike in that perfume ad?
Avatar    Tue. 10/20/15 12:22pm Nick S.:

Generous? Shit, I'm too broke to be generous, but, your welcome! Where else can I hear Mr. T droppin' knowledge in this particular way?
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 12:25pm still b/p:

Bobby Short in the Charlie ad....I regret I didn't get to see him in all the years he played the Oak Room in NY.

"Turntable" still pretty widely used for DJ gear and home-use old-school and USB varieties...? Or is some youngster gonna laugh or show me deadface if I say "turntable?"
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 12:27pm still b/p:

...no, Cafe Carlyle was the long gig.
  Tue. 10/20/15 12:27pm Jeff g.:

Did Mr T go through that whole song without saying "I pity the fool?" I cry foul.

Gonna be hard to top this opening set!

No 9 - Guy was right about the African cannibals filing their teeth into points. Cooked human flesh sticks to the bone and has to be gnawed off. I met some cannibals in Sudan. When i asked whether they would eat me they laughed and said I was poisonous. (nb. all this was when I was a younger man).

Actually, the eyelash is quicker than the eye, and the shoelace is quicker than the knee.

Pete - do you remember those road safety TV adverts in the early 70s for kids in the Uk - some old rock star fart in a donkey jacket telling kids to be careful!
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 2:28pm VANDALISM GENERATOR:

is that what you call music - Tony!
Avatar    Tue. 10/20/15 2:29pm V Priceless:

Quite topical, as I sit here puffing on my e-cig while working!
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 2:30pm Peter Nelson:

@VG I remember road safety with a squirrel called Tufty, and the Green Cross Code Man (Darth Vader), of course. I don't remember an old rock star. Who was it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 10/20/15 2:32pm Cecile:

  Tue. 10/20/15 2:52pm Dean:

When does The Triumph of Man get around to discussing treble damages and bad faith class actions?
Avatar Tue. 10/20/15 2:54pm Tony Coulter:

@ Rich: It's a 7" EP -- pressed on red vinyl.

@ Dean: Watch for how he discusses the Civil War without mentioning slavery.
Avatar    Tue. 10/20/15 2:55pm Rich in Washington:

I think I have this but I don't remember if mine's on red vinyl or not. I do know it's still in it's spiffy mailer jacket and has an impressive booklet.
