Late to the party, and really sad I missed the Jackson Sisters, but, is this the normal yearly drive? Or did Larry Bunsfeld blow up the transmitter or something?

AWESOME show so far, Duane! Loving these covers!

There's probably several of them by now, Brian - we won one of those non-scientific polls a couple of years ago. However, I am glad to live here (Grand Rapids, MI), since there is a shitload of great beer to drink.

This is one of those covers that makes you realize there was actually a decent song hiding under the original production.

Would I get into trouble if I said that the Chicago original is funkier?
Avatar 2:08pm
Eli:

This is great
Avatar 2:10pm
Duane:

Ari, i think they're both equally as funky. THe OG by Chicago was a big early Harlem disco anthem, if you can imagine that:)

Ever heard Holly Miranda do this? Blows the doors off. And makes you cry.

Krypt, I've done that. Sometimes WFMU presents such an abundance of content that it's just a little too much choice.

Avatar 2:12pm
bobdoesthings:

just hopped the fence and snuck onto the duane train when it stopped at the last station break.. hey all
  2:15pm
Ari:

Duane, as per our recent convo, I can imagine that. If Rare Earth was rocking the b-boys, then Chicago (on certain tracks) could certainly rock their older siblings in the discos. The horns are great (as with a lot of disco and larger funk ensembles) and the Cetera/Seraphine rhythm section is tight as heck (underrated, even).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm
Kat in Chicago:

Went to a meeting and the organizer didn't even show up. Grr. Awfully curious about the salsa Spoon cover I missed.

When I met Biz Markie at my place of employment (a very well-known music magazine) in the mid-90s, he proceeded to make fun of my given name. My reply to him was "Are you really teasing me about my name — uh, Marcel?!" After humbling him, I allowed him to sign my copy of I Need a Haircut regardless.

@Gaylord - my wife is pregnant with a boy and I suggested your name. Didn't fly with her. As a Michael and Michelle, we are all about the less common names for our kids, though. definitely won't be having a Dave, Bob, or Jake, etc.
