Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 11:57am Tony Coulter:

Hmm. Today's playlist image goes rather strangely with the gospel now playing on the stream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 12:00pm listener james from westwood:

I'lllll stick with the wing, thanks!
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:00pm Tony Coulter:

Heya, James ... and Doug!!
  Tue. 9/8/15 12:01pm V Priceless:

Welcome back, Tony! Hey!
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:02pm Tony Coulter:

Hola, VP!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 12:02pm listener james from westwood:

How do all!! Keep this guy away from the pie! He may have seen a certain film.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:02pm βrian:

One has to make do when one lacks a meat thermometer.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:04pm Tony Coulter:

Greets, βrian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/8/15 12:04pm Uncle Michael:

Good morning.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:05pm Tony Coulter:

Hey ho, Uncle M!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/8/15 12:06pm Uncle Michael:

Do you all stuff your birds or do your dressing separately?
  Tue. 9/8/15 12:07pm Dean:

I gotcher wishbone right here!
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:07pm Tony Coulter:

Dean! Greets!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 12:07pm listener james from westwood:

@UM, we do dressing separately. Easier to control bird and bread as separate entities.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/8/15 12:09pm Uncle Michael:

How does one learn about the birds and the breads if you dress separately?
  Tue. 9/8/15 12:16pm Dean:

Y'all seen the work of the stock photo-bomber? http://bit.ly/1NnOHfG
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/8/15 12:16pm Carmichael:

He's obviously a chubby chaser.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:18pm Tony Coulter:

Ahoy, Carmichael!
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:22pm Mayuko:

Hello Tony & everyone!
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:23pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Mayuko! Congrats on your first "official" stream show!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/8/15 12:25pm Uncle Michael:

I like this Ibliss music... a lot.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:26pm Tony Coulter:

Follow your Ibliss...
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:26pm Mayuko:

Thank you, Tony! I was somehow very nervous at my maiden voyage and many things slipped out of my brain, but I survived.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/8/15 12:28pm Uncle Michael:

I forget everything I was going to do or say every week.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:30pm Doug Schulkind:

Good thing you were wearing the GTDR new deejay brain spillover bib. That stuff can get messy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 12:31pm JtotheK:

hi everybody!
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:32pm Tony Coulter:

Hiya, JtotheK!
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:35pm Mayuko:

Maybe I should design brain spillover bib as a marathon premium for listeners too that they can put on while they tune in for us.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:38pm Tony Coulter:

Good idea. Brain melt stains are very unsightly.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:39pm Tony Coulter:

Even worse than melted cheese....
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:40pm Doug Schulkind:

Excellent idea, Mayuko. So far, it appears researchers have only addressed brain spillover for readers, not listeners: www.apa.org...
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:47pm Mayuko:

haha! seems from this image I think I will experience less brain meltdown when I become "high-skilled" DJ (and listener.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 12:48pm Jeff Golick:

Hi, Tony, all.

I ate already, thanks.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:50pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Jeff!

C'mon -- don't you have room for a little stuffing?
  Tue. 9/8/15 12:51pm Dean:

Makin' turkey bacon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 12:52pm JtotheK:

coffy! such a great song/soundtrack...
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 12:53pm Tony Coulter:

Parts of this Duello Madre track remind me of Picchio Dal Pozzo.
  Tue. 9/8/15 1:10pm Dean:

I'll see your Picchio Dal Pozzo and raise you a Secret Oyster, which is what this Bella Band sounds like to me.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 1:18pm Tony Coulter:

What makes Duello Madre a higher card is that they recorded their album before Picchio dal Pozzo released anything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 1:21pm northguineahills:

Not sure why, but I like this Manuel Rosenthal. Reminds me of later Satie orchestral pieces.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 1:23pm Tony Coulter:

Hey NGH! As I said (on mic), he was a student of Ravel's, so there's some built-in affinity with Satie for sure, I'd say.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 1:26pm Tony Coulter:

Listening to it, you'd never guess it was written in the middle of WWII. Seems pretty cheery, all things considered.
  Tue. 9/8/15 1:36pm WTF:

Who brought this classical fucker home to meet the family?
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 1:37pm Tony Coulter:

Give him a chance -- he can get down with the homies.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 1:44pm Mayuko:

This set has been making me feel pretty heroic while clean-up my studio.
  Tue. 9/8/15 1:44pm HomeSqueeze:

Maybe He imbibed to much of the boxed Wine.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 1:47pm Tony Coulter:

Hola, HomeSqueeze!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/8/15 1:54pm Uncle Michael:

I must take my leave. Thank you for the music, Tony!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 1:54pm northguineahills:

I gotta mosey along soon, thanks again, Tony!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/8/15 1:55pm Rich in Washington:

IS this were the Turkey graphic comes into play?
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 1:56pm Tony Coulter:

Fare thee well, you two. Thanks for lending me your ears....
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 1:56pm Tony Coulter:

@ Rich: Ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/8/15 1:58pm Rich in Washington:

stupid weekly work meeting now interferes with this show. I think I am going to fabricate earphones that look like my ears so I can listen in.
  Tue. 9/8/15 1:58pm BigTex:

This man must have loved The Frank Chickens?& Wild Turkey!
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 1:59pm Tony Coulter:

Ha! Heya, BigTex!
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:07pm Tony Coulter:

Track on now features Phew on vocals and Bootsy Collins on bass! What a combo.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:10pm Mayuko:

Now I see, I've felt like I'm hearing Japanese but it was kinda vague.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:11pm Tony Coulter:

What is she saying?
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:12pm Tony Coulter:

(was she saying)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/8/15 2:14pm Rich in Washington:

There is no English. Only Zeuhl
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:14pm Tony Coulter:

Did anyone see Magma during their recent U.S. tour? I did, and was very impressed.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:14pm Mayuko:

I couldn't really tell - just a couple words here and there, like "tomorrow" but was too abstract for me to comprehend the context. Somehow just the sounding of the syllables were familiar to me. Maybe if I pay a real close attention to the archive, I could hear more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/8/15 2:15pm Rich in Washington:

I missed it! A few friends went and enjoyed it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/8/15 2:17pm Rich in Washington:

It must've made an impression; the hipster burger cart I go to occasionally was playing Magma in their dining area a few weeks back.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:17pm Tony Coulter:

@ Rich: Then there's Finnish -- which is pretty much the same thing as Kobaian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/8/15 2:19pm Rich in Washington:

It IS! My wife's half Finnish(ed) and her mom and a cousin are old Finnish folklore and language scholars, respectively. It's pretty bizarre.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/8/15 2:20pm Rich in Washington:

There's a big Finnish community in my immediate neighborhood.
  Tue. 9/8/15 2:23pm BigTex:

I've seen Magma in 1979 & 1989. What is not to love of the greatness of Christian Vander/Magma!?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 2:23pm listener james from westwood:

Can't believe it's been two hours! Taking you into the kitchen for chili prep for hour 3!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 2:23pm Webhamster Henry:

Ah - a good tune for a hot day.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:25pm Tony Coulter:

Hot?!? It's in the 60s over here. (Heya, Webham -- if I can call you that.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 2:29pm Webhamster Henry:

We're setting records in the Hudson Valley - my sister will be going to Portland next week, so keep it cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 2:30pm JtotheK:

hadn't heard that full V.D. Parks track before, but it sounded familiar -- and then research shows Madlib sampled it, so that's where i'd heard (part of) it before...
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:31pm Tony Coulter:

@ Webhamster Henry: By next week Portland won't be cool anymore. Your sister will have to go to Detroit instead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 2:32pm Webhamster Henry:

I usually listen to Song Cycle all the way through and don't know the names of parts of it!
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:33pm Tony Coulter:

@ Jtothek: Fred Frith also borrowed a bit of the arrangement of that Van Dyke Parks track (to my ears, anyhow): www.youtube.com...
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:36pm Tony Coulter:

For the song 'The Welcome,' from "Cheap at Half the Price."
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 2:42pm JtotheK:

thanks tony! that reminds me...i found a fred frith record 'gravity' recently, and it's still sitting on the 'to listen to' pile. i'll have to give that one a spin...soon!
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:43pm Tony Coulter:

It's a classic fer sure.
  Tue. 9/8/15 2:44pm LCS:

All Great Musicians/Politicians..etc Lie/Cheat/Steal an American Imperative.Too bad F.F. was born a Brit.He eventually made it to USA.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 2:45pm listener james from westwood:

Thanking you now for the fine back-to-work show before I'm elbows deep in turkey (in a different way than our man surmounting the playlist).
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:47pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, LCS! I'm not faulting Frith at all -- it's definitely creative recontextualization. Still pops out at me, though.
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:49pm Tony Coulter:

Happy turkey-diving, James -- and thanks for showing up!
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:55pm V Priceless:

thanks, TC!
  Tue. 9/8/15 2:56pm Dean:

Great show, Turkey Courter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 9/8/15 2:57pm JtotheK:

great show, thanks Tony!
Avatar Tue. 9/8/15 2:58pm Tony Coulter:
