Thanks, Cheri, that's the plan! Stoked to spend time with my nephews - they have no idea I'm coming, and I can't wait to surprise em. B-)

Don't think I'll have the time, Chris. :-/ I am traveling with the mother... It's gonna be a family weekend at my brother's place, so I'm sure he has all sorts of plans lined up for us.
It'll have to be another time when I'm flying solo. Womp womp.

omg THE BELLS! did Clay Pigeon just show up?
OR is this one of those rare tunes that you BOTH adore?
no joke -- one of the greatest/cheesiest/corniest songs EVER, eternally embedded into the brains of anyone who was growing up and listening to the radio back then . . .

@ Lewis -- The Bells DEFINED "creepy" in their own special way to a whole generation of kids growing up at the time . . . "quiver" INDEED!

The new Fabrice du Welz film ALLELUIA is based on the Honeymoon Killers story. Highly recommended.
Avatar 4:50pm
slugluv1313:

THE BELLS were HUGE! early 1970s -- "Stay Awhile" was a big hit in 1971, "11 weeks on the charts, peaking at #7" (thank you, Joel Whitburn!) -- followed up by "Fly Little White Bird Fly" (not a Top 40 hit but i remember hearing it on the radio) -- a friend of mine was President of The Bells' Fan Club when he was like . . . 11 . . . "Stay Awhile" was supposed to be "romantic," i guess, but even as little kids, it creeped a lot of us out!
Avatar 4:52pm

ahhhhh "The Honeymoon Killers" -- AMAZING film -- "Don't be a shy nurse" buahahahahahahaha

I love how Conrad Schnitzler knew he could and wanted to make "non-music" because of the sounds Hendrix was getting from his amp. Pretty cool.

@Marcel M: Schnitzler's comment about Hendrix really grabbed me too. Also his discussions of Warhol and Henry Miller as influences.
@Fabio: thanks again for "The Connie Schnitzler Experience." I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to hear the rest of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm
Marcel M:

@P-90: I also really loved the Miller part. Its wonderful to hear someone like that speak of his non musical influences. I thought he was saying he was not so into "pop art," or did I mishear that?

And I too would love to hear the rest!
