Hey, I must be totally wrong here but I thought the final lyric on It's Your Time, just now, was "scratch your nuts".(I am not high before you ask) :)

@ Duane. On a shoegaze tip, remember Andy Weatherall's Glider (MBV) remix? He dropped it last Saturday when I saw him, I forgot what a totally amazing live dj he is, just a pro.

chiming in late on the Jimmy "Bo" Horne; I was away from the computer when that came on. That album rules, "I Wanna Go Home With You" is a huge fave.
Avatar 1:06pm
Duane:

Krypt: Oh Wow! That's one of my all time fave remixes..that one and the St. Etienne (Mix in two halves) of "Only love can break your heart"

EFD: I've heard you play some Jimmy "Bo" on your show....I always love it when Evan "Funks"..:)

I didn't know moving to the suburbs could sound so sexy. He is kind of selling me on this idea as NYC has been really really really hard on me this past year. 9 years baby but it's starting to bring me down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm
Kat in Chicago:

Took me a minute to realize he was singing about Detroit's Michigan Avenue and not ours. A lot of the complaints would be the same here. Like Cecile said, six of one...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm
Kat in Chicago:

The Michigan Avenue whores here carry Gucci shopping bags
Avatar 1:20pm
Jan Audun Uretsky:

So I guess you'll have to move to Detroit's suburbs Meezy ;)

Avatar 1:26pm

This has always been a great track!

Mark R:

Having lived all three places, I can say I love NYC (and Jersey where I live), I love Chicago and if I had to leave NY for any reason, I'd move back to Chicago in a hot minute, and no offense, I was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, and I hope never to return there again. Ann Arbor was better, but I'd still prefer NY or Chi any day of the week. With all due respect to our Michigan friends. And yes, these last couple tracks are killing
Avatar 1:43pm

Woah. This is sick.

Interesting thing happening in Ann Arbor right now: in recent history Borders had put many indy book stores out of biz but now that Borders is gone, new indy book stores are coming back :) You can't fuck wit Ann Arbor book stores.
Avatar 2:16pm
βrian:

I still miss the Wooden Spoon and David's Books.
  2:19pm
Cecile:

I do too, Brian.
  2:20pm
Cecile:

I am sad that Borders became such an ungainly behemoth. It used to epitomize great bookstores.
Avatar 2:23pm

I hafta eat. Time for Indian food. Excellent show again, Duane. Lotsa clicky stars.
Avatar 2:24pm
βrian:

Kaleidoscope Books is in the space that once was Wooden Spoon. No idea what that's like.
Yep, Borders was the place. I almost took a job there back in 92.
  2:24pm
Cecile:

Is real to reel ever getting reissued?
Avatar 2:25pm
KRYPT:

I gotta go too, potstickers for me, loved my time on board as always, cheers :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
Mike East:

I got a job at Borders at a crucial time in my life. Had good times there...lots of free coffee, which is nice. I left to work at a sub shop just before they were going to pull me into a management position.
Groovy tunes, Duane!
Avatar 2:27pm
Jshatan:

@Cecile - Black Beauty finally came out so maybe Real to Reel is next! That would be a good thing.
  2:28pm
Cecile:

Yes, black beauty is awesome
Avatar 2:28pm

Coffee? That must've been post-Border's Border's. Heh.
  2:35pm
Cecile:

When they were Baby Barnes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm
Mike East:

heh - Baby Barnes...totally. never heard that.
  2:40pm
Cecile:

I just made it up. But that's what they were.
Avatar 2:41pm
βrian:

I remember a former colleague tried to convince Border's they needed an online presence, so they could potentially support online sales. "Wha?" (They weren't interested.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm
Mike East:

Yeah, there was a massive b&n down the highway that survived.
People used to come in telling us they could get better prices for books online...we always told them they should buy it there, then. I guess they expected the store to price match, but they were not interested in doing that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
chris:

Gonna step out for a bite. Thanks, Duane! What a show! This last set, too... took the soulful and groovy tip to a whole new level.
  2:45pm
Cecile:

Brian, they were so slow to get online. It was bad.
Avatar 2:46pm
βrian:

I recall the application questionnaire being quite esoteric and fun. Book geeks were sought after.
Avatar 2:49pm

this Paul Chin track is so compressed the air hurts my eyeballs
  2:55pm

Is there a credit for the guy on staple gun?
Avatar 2:56pm

Duane - That Ron Hardy edit though… seriously listened to that 5x… put me in a daze… so so dope. Dude was ahead of his time with that sound. Where is the source you played this from?
