Favoriting Ning Nong Radio: Playlist from March 10, 2015 Favoriting

Ning Nong Radio juxtaposes current and classic experimental music with exotica, post-punk, and many other things. It somehow makes sense.

Listener comments!

It works!

but only if the listeners support the station!
  3:20am
JakeGould:

First, hello NingNong! Also, @wolfg this station has been around for decades and the donations work. Purchased from the college it once was affiliated with in 1995, moved to their own facilities in 1998. It works. Few places can say that. WFMU can.

fred:

Good morning NingNong, I hope your first marathon show will be a successful one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23am
Caryn:

Don't even engage with the troll (who I see has moved from yesterday's "I was a renowned radio fundraiser" to "I managed radio stations"). No matter how much info you give him, he ignores it like a typical troll. Chris on Imaginary Radio had to ban him yesterday after trying to put up with his bull for 2 hours.
  3:25am
JakeGould:

@Caryn: Ah, thanks for the tip! “don't worry. I will ask the staff” Schmuck (aka: wolfg) please read this page: wfmu.org...
  3:26am
JakeGould:

@wolfg: Go to the area that reads, “HOW DOES WFMU RECEIVE ITS FUNDING?” And if you are a schmuck, don’t worry. You’ll be banned soon enough.
Avatar 3:27am
ausmanx:

hey wolf, maybe it didn't work for the stations you managed because you're a knob? it certainly works for FMU or they wouldn't keep doing it, would they?
  3:29am
JakeGould:

@ausmanx: That is a nice turnip. But do you call it a turnip or a rutabaga?
Avatar 3:29am
ausmanx:

as an ongoing swag for lifer from last year, i'm feeling a little discriminated against that i don't get a little red heart? what's that about?
  3:30am
JakeGould:

I’m the only one who has a heart on this list. What?
Avatar 3:30am
ausmanx:

turnips where i come from, jake. rutabaga has always sounded thoroughly improper to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32am
fred:

@JakeGould: Caryn has one too, maybe you only see those for those who had pledged before this show
Avatar 3:33am
ausmanx:

yes, wolf, i'm very ill and i come here for therapy. i assume you're doing the same thing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35am
fred:

@ausmanx: it was the same last year, I think swag for lifers only get a heart by asking Joe McGasko (or pledging more)
  3:36am
JakeGould:

Rutabaga sounds snooty. Turnip is down to earth. I like your style!
  3:37am
JakeGould:

If it was sAndy or NingNong who gave that guy an Irish exit, I salute you.
  3:38am
JakeGould:

I see Caryn has a heart, but just saying.
Avatar 3:39am
sAndy:

I don't know who did it. I'll ask the staff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41am
Caryn:

The Marathon seems to have a troll this year. We've clearly been fortunate to avoid this for so long, but apparently the YT comments get boring after a while, and the loons are branching out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42am
fred:

@sAndy: you mean that kind of staff, right? en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43am
Caryn:

I feel like sAndy's "I'll ask the staff" is a snarky repeat of wolfg's "Don't worry, I'll ask the staff" line. Hah!
Avatar 3:44am
sAndy:

of course Fred!
  3:46am
JakeGould:

@sAndy: Don’t ask the staff. I don’t care. I’m just happy that someone caught it and dealt with it. Trust you guy!
Avatar 3:47am
sAndy:

I'm just kidding, I AM THE STAFF!!!
  3:48am
JakeGould:

@Caryn: It’s a very specific kind of bohemian hobo personality type that pops up here every now and then. I actually enjoy seeing the archetype every now and then. And sAndy? You are the staff? You are LEGION!?! Going to sleep…
Avatar 3:49am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51am
Caryn:

@JakeGould: I wouldn't mind so much, if it wasn't happening during the Marathon, and especially on a new show's board like here. New shows have a hard enough time reaching their goal without some douche on the comments board trying to distract people from pledging.
  3:53am
JakeGould:

I did a Google search on the guy. At this point in my life I think I can write a sitcom on noise artists. Nuff said.
  4:05am
sarah:

dose wfmu take Bitcoins? btw you
can quit easly set up an account that changes them stright to dollars and a lot of people have extra bitcoins to spend
Avatar 4:05am
ausmanx:

pop crimes is one of the great neglected records; i was reintroduced to it after watching the wonderful AUTOLUMINESCENT film about rowland. so much more brilliant than the fraud Cave
  4:07am
DJ Ning Nong:

thanks to everyone out there listeNING and supporting!
Avatar 4:08am
sAndy:

Not sure about Bitcoins but that seems like something Station Manager Ken would be into
  4:10am
sarah:

sAndy, is it best to e-mail him with information?
Avatar 4:12am
sAndy:

yeah, that'd probably be good
  4:14am
sarah:

thanks
hello from Jerusalem Israel 10:27 am :)
  4:22am
DJ Ning Nong:

minimum pledge of $20 puts you in the running for a 2fer CD prize: this Prurient CD and the Rowland S. Howard CD we heard earlier!
  4:31am
jeff-m:

a few years ago the station took bitcoins (mostly as curiosity, doubt we got any). Write ken.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32am
fred:

Good luck with your goal NingNong, I'm off to work
  4:34am
DJ Ning Nong:

thanks so much, fred! have a great day!
  4:44am
jeff-m:

ah, Fall Apart always so good.

will play along my acoustic :)
  5:12am
Mark:

I pledged online before the Marathon even started, but Ning Nong, you're one of the reasons I pledged. I've hardly ever heard of any of the artists you play, and I'm always learning about some interesting music from you. Thanks to you, now I've got a big list of albums I have to buy. Your show is costing me a fortune!
  5:14am
Mark:

And only on FMU would Aphex Twin be in the heavy rotation!
  5:21am
DJ Ning Nong:

hey mark, that means a lot. thanks for your support! glad you're finding some new things to listen to!
Avatar 5:34am
Sem Chumbo:

Good morNING, DJ Ning Nong.
  5:44am
DJ Ning Nong:

This swans 2xcd+dvd and the terry riley cd are up for grabs to anyone pledging $50 or more.

DJ Ning Nong:

thanks so much for tuNING in!
  5:57am
DJ Ning Nong:
