Heya, V Priceless, Glenn, and Listener James!

My camera and wife will come back to me soon enough. Probably acting like I don't know what they were up to.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:01pm glenn:

at least there will be pix.
Avatar    Tue. 3/3/15 12:02pm Snortley:

My girlfriend left me for her husband. Plenty of pix, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:03pm DCE:

hello!
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:06pm Tony Coulter:

Howdy, Snortley and DCE!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:06pm Parq:

Seen on the streets of NYC. Woman, 30ish, dragging a camera along the sidewalk as she walks. She made sure not to miss any puddle or snow-clump along the way. At the end of the block, she stopped in front of a luxury apt buidling, stomped on the camera a couple of times, and strode inside -- the concierge didn't even look up, so obviously she's well known there. Not hard to guess who owned the camera or what pictures were on it.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:07pm Tony Coulter:

Wow!

Hola, Parq!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:07pm DCE:

promising!
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:08pm Doug Schulkind:

@Parq
Sounds like one of my wife's performance art pieces from the early '80s.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:08pm Tony Coulter:

Here's the cover of the cassette on now: www.discogs.com...
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:09pm Tony Coulter:

Los Doug Dougs!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:10pm Parq:

@Doug: Oh, it was a performance, all right.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:15pm Tony Coulter:

Funny thing about coffee, for me at least: I'm a fairly heavy coffee drinker, usually about 4 cups a day. As soon as I get sick at all, however, even a mild cold, I simply cannot drink the stuff. Just seems totally unpleasant. I've had a cold since last Wednesday, so immediately went on the coffee bandwagon. Today I had my first cup in almost a week -- so, obviously, I must be almost all better.

Funny, I guess, because caffeine is definitely addictive -- but also very easy to kick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:19pm Cecile:

hopefully both your wife and the camera will be back soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:20pm Cecile:

if you kick caffeine as a result of being sick or something, it's easy to kick. But if you make a point of it, it's pretty hard, IME
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:20pm northguineahills:

I can't drink coffee any more. The only time I do is when I'm really tired, and need a caffeine boost. But, all it does is barely keep me awake, and doesn't help me focus. Then I feel like shit the rest of the day and the coffee tries to race through my intestines as fast as possible. I probably killed my ability to drink coffee in grad school, when I was drinking close to two pots of coffee a day.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:23pm glenn:

4 cups? hell, i have that by 7 ack emma.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:23pm listener james from westwood:

I was a 3 Diet Coke/day caffeinator but had to cut out owing to neuro/cardiac symptoms. Tapering made quitting easier. Now I only dose if I need to survive a long ride home or on very rare work all-nighters. Potent little molecule.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:25pm Cecile:

I have cut down a lot, but I drink 3-4 cups or espresso shots a day
  Tue. 3/3/15 12:25pm Dean:

Caffeine is not addictive. Hell, I've been drinking it for over 30 years, and I'm still not addicted to it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:25pm Carmichael:

Nuttin' but tea for me. Hiya Tony and peeps!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:26pm Cecile:

Heya, Cecile, Dean, & Carmichael!

My wife didn't really run away, of course -- just traveling for work.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:28pm Tony Coulter:

Doug has very kindly offered to add discogs photos of today's three cassettes to the playlist while I drink coffee and type. Thanks, Doug!
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:28pm βrian:

Espresso is an aphrodisiac. Gotta be careful with that in the workplace.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:28pm Cecile:

I figured something like that, but I don't assume anything anymore.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:29pm Tony Coulter:

Greets, βrian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:30pm Cecile:

My workplace is like saltpetre for the soul. No chance of anything happening with my daily cup
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:34pm listener james from westwood:

@Tony w00t! Doug's a mensch!
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:34pm Tony Coulter:

And there they be: the covers of today's cassettes. THANKS, DOUG!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:36pm Cecile:

this is kind of badass right about now.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:36pm Kay:

The one for Fondation fits perfectly for the tape hiss theme.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:37pm Tony Coulter:

Heya, Kay! You're right!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 12:49pm northguineahills:

This reminds me of the original Sim City theme music.
  Tue. 3/3/15 12:50pm Dean:

Reminds me of Einzelganger.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 12:56pm Tony Coulter:

Ivan Coaquette (half of Fondation) also plays on these great records:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/3/15 1:09pm Uncle Michael:

White beats ashen.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 1:09pm Tony Coulter:

Glad to hear it!

French foundations have no need of our silly Anglo-Saxon 'u.'
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 1:10pm Tony Coulter:

French organizations are fonded, not founded.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 1:11pm glenn:

fonds.
In archival science, a fonds is the aggregation of documents that originate from the same source.[1] More specifically, a fonds distinguishes itself from a collection through its organic nature, as archival documents that have been naturally accumulated (made or received) by an individual, company, institution, etc. as a byproduct of business or day-to-day activities
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 1:13pm Tony Coulter:

Fonds are very distinguished.
  Tue. 3/3/15 1:15pm MrFab:

Fondation: the tub of goo fondue is dipped into?
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 1:17pm βrian:

Fondue *is* the goo.
  Tue. 3/3/15 1:18pm Dean:

Fonds are all about provenance.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 1:20pm Tony Coulter:

MrFab!

A German restaurant here in Portland had a truly weird sign out front this past Valentine's Day: "May your love be as warm as our fondue." (Warm and gooey?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/3/15 1:20pm Uncle Michael:

Fondue is not about Provence.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 1:21pm Tony Coulter:

No, that wasn't your phone ringing.
Avatar    Tue. 3/3/15 1:21pm holland oats:

checkin' in / fondtastic sounds tony c
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 1:22pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, Holland O -- and greets!!
  Tue. 3/3/15 1:23pm Dean:

Please don't tease me about my stutter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 1:24pm listener james from westwood:

Sounding manically Devoid in music but depressively Ian Curtis in vocals!
  Tue. 3/3/15 1:25pm Dean:

Joy Devoid
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 1:25pm Tony Coulter:

Spud Division
  Tue. 3/3/15 1:27pm Dean:

A divided spud is a French fry de Provence avec aioli.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 1:27pm Tony Coulter:

Talking of spuds, I like your cowboy spud, Jeff G.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 1:43pm Tony Coulter:

SO, by the way, the marathon premium I'll be offering this year will be a kind-of "Tape Hiss" best-of. Choice tracks selected from (unarchived) programs past.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 1:44pm Tony Coulter:

Perhaps including something from this week -- I'm not done putting it together yet!
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 1:50pm Tony Coulter:

I've always wondered: Is Thomas Dolby dolby A or dolby B?
  Tue. 3/3/15 1:51pm Dean:

Depends on which side of the EP you're spinning.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 1:52pm Tony Coulter:

True DAT (tape).
  Tue. 3/3/15 1:54pm Tim:

Was his father Dolby SR?
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 2:00pm Tony Coulter:

Ha! (Hola, Tim!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 2:19pm Jeff Golick:

That's no spud, Tony. It's a diseased lung who apparently answers to the name Jeff. cdn1.lockerdome.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/3/15 2:21pm Looms:

Thx for playing these fine tapes, Tony.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 2:21pm Tony Coulter:

You're welcome, Looms! Greetings!
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 2:26pm Tony Coulter:

@ Jeff G: A diseased lung, huh? Up close he looks more like a dissolute sponge to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 2:30pm Jeff Golick:

Tony, the same is true of me.

You know Jacqueline Humbert & David Rosenboom's DAYTIME VIEWING? This sorta reminds me of that.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 2:32pm Tony Coulter:

I don't, but I should -- really like both of 'em.
  Tue. 3/3/15 2:35pm Neg-guh-tor:

You put this on a marathon premium a few years ago! I love Doll Parts very much.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 2:37pm Tony Coulter:

You're right! I did. I should play their LP "Carnival at Sea" more often.
  Tue. 3/3/15 2:38pm Neg-guh-tor:

I just ordered it from Discogs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/3/15 2:39pm Jeff Golick:

(Tony, check your email after the show...)
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 2:40pm Tony Coulter:

@ Neg-guh-tor: They also have another tape, which I've never heard -- their first release. Hope to hear it one day!
Avatar    Tue. 3/3/15 2:40pm V Priceless:

swell show, TC - thanks!
  Tue. 3/3/15 2:41pm Neg-guh-tor:

I saw that. Two tapes and the LP. Neither of the tapes were available or I'd bought it all.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 2:42pm Tony Coulter:

@ Jeff G: Will do! I'm planning to send you a track for your marathon use, by the way.
Avatar Tue. 3/3/15 2:42pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, V Priceless! Glad you approve!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/3/15 2:45pm cklequ:
