Only one side of faithful included covers. My sense is that he wanted to show off his production chops. Contrary to some of the reviews at the time, his covers don't sound like impersonations of the originals, at least not quite. But the other side of original Rundgren tunes is pretty solid. "Love of the Common Man" is a grand tune.
