Just reading about them in the Rhino Records Story. Spoonmen, indeed!

Now that we've heard Billy Miller's astounding one-note sax playing, can his role model Mike Love be far behind?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 11/6/14 10:17pm Uncle Michael:

Nope!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 11/6/14 10:18pm Gaylord Fields:

I bought The Bobby Darin Story when I was 17 in 1983 and listened to it until it wore out. His version of Bill Bailey on that record is rather good as well!
Avatar Thu. 11/6/14 10:30pm Dave the Spazz:

Darin signed the inner groove of the LP

Baritone saxophonist Gerry Mulligan was married to musical actress and singer Judy Holliday. They made one album together, while she was dying from cancer. Parts of it are quite good.
Avatar Thu. 11/6/14 11:41pm Dave the Spazz:

My grandfather was Judy Holiday's dentist. His office was his apartment on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx. He didn't believe in Novacaine under any circumstanes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 11/6/14 11:46pm pacific standard simon:

Your grandfather scares the crap out of me.
Avatar    Thu. 11/6/14 11:49pm JakeGould:

Then again, my grandfather scared the crap out of me -- he had golf magazines in his bathroom, and his whole house smelled like weird chemicals.

  Fri. 11/7/14 2:34pm reading Wikipedia:

Agreed "Rocket 88" was actually by Ike Turner's Kings of Rhythm. Raymond Hill was 17 when he played sax on the 1951 recording. (Jackie Brenston was its vocalist.)
However, it was Tina Turner at 17 who had a relationship with Raymond Hill then about 24 in 1957, child born 1958.
