I somehow dislocated my left big toe while stumbling towards the bathroom at 4:30 in the morning (couldn't find my indoor flipflops.) Luckily, a few hours later I put it back in joint. Been one of those days.

Everything is fine. I got back in bed, and was like, damn, my toe really hurts, hmmmm, it's not supposed to look like that. Oh, well, I need to sleep. No sleep occurs, and finally I become lucid and realized, "oh crap, i need to put this back in joint, and it's really going to hurt for a brief second". Now, just a minor contusion w/ some swelling, but not too bad.

There's a great scene in the Bollywood film Company, wherein you get a birds-eye view of the city and hear different cell phone rings, indicating word going out about a particular hit, if I remember correctly. (Hit in the mafia sense.)
Avatar 7:42pm
Jesse K:

hits in the musical sense don't need telephone calls
Avatar 7:44pm

You really can't do anything about toe injuries, except tape to another toe for support. Via soccer, I've broken many of them. I'm used to the routine, even though my boots have been hung up.

I like the free medical advice angle- you should get on that, could really do some good for your public ;)

Avatar 8:05pm

My father was a physician, and I tended to injure myself quite a bit in my youthy days, so, unless I'm bleeding to death, I can usually take care of mild injuries. When I was in my 20s, I dislocated my ankle playing soccer. After a friend gave me something to medicate myself, I put it back in joint, and it still was extremely unfun, but felt so much better afterwards.

Avatar 8:12pm

I have less than fond memories of summer/autumn '88 when I managed to break the same big toe THREE times due to a) kicking stuck back door to kitchen idiocy b) huge cast iron fry pan idiocy c) wedding present le creuset huge daubierre idiocy. Biggest cooking klutz ever.

Lesson learned: There is nothing to do for broken toe but cry, grimace & bear it - and/or drink. If you can't /choose not to drink, I have no advice ;-)

Hi, Jesse. Listening again on the archive (only caught the first 20 mins last night), and I think you're right about that Les Surf being in Francais. Why it's on an album called "They Sing in Spanish" is anybody's guess. Looking forward to the rest of the show.
