Awww...love the gif. BTW, my cat (pictured to the left) really enjoys The Young Ones.

Kitty second from left seems a bit angsty.

These guys are Pallas cat kittens. They are wild!
Avatar    Wed. 7/2/14 12:06pm Roberto:

I think it may be a closely guarded secret among the TYO producers that the show was in fact written for (and perhaps partially by) cats.
Avatar Wed. 7/2/14 12:08pm fleep:

A hymn to jailbait everywhere.
Avatar    Wed. 7/2/14 12:08pm bpd:

Ringo had to be in his thirties when he recorded this. Not okay, Ringo.
Avatar    Wed. 7/2/14 12:12pm adrian in mpls:

Thanks for the cat info -- never heard of them before. Looks like a really interesting species! (oh feline nerdery...)
Avatar    Wed. 7/2/14 12:15pm Amanda:

:-) You are in good company, Adrian -- lot of animal nerds here (or maybe just me.)
Avatar Wed. 7/2/14 12:17pm fleep:

There's another Pallas cat gif on my profile page - total coincidence.

Hi Amanda! Happy Lincoln's Birthday!

Favorite creepy 70s lyrics:
Ides Of March - Vehicle
"Hey well, I'm the friendly stranger in the black sedan
Won't you hop inside my car
I got pictures, got candy, I'm a lovable man
And I can take you to the nearest star"
Avatar    Wed. 7/2/14 12:45pm ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!

I typo'd. I'm so ashamed.
Avatar Wed. 7/2/14 12:51pm Doug Schulkind:

I fixed your typo, Uncle Michael. Out of respect for Lincoln.

Those strange looking puppies are freaking me out.
Avatar    Wed. 7/2/14 12:52pm listener james from westwood:

Jim Peterik wrote those "Vehicle" lyrics after running across one of those scare-pamphlets used to warn kids about drugs/sex/strangers. He came up with the refrain when he was driving to pick up his then ex-girlfriend/later wife, who still wanted to use his car for this & that, and he said to himself, "I guess I'm just your vehicle, baby!" And he put the two together. /useless_trivia
Avatar    Wed. 7/2/14 12:52pm listener james from westwood:

(I recently proofread his book, thus the unnatural insight into the tune.)
Avatar    Wed. 7/2/14 12:53pm Amanda:

I never knew that, and I am kinda jealous that you got to proofread such a thing...

...they usually reckon dogs more than people in England - you'd expect something more palatial...
Avatar Wed. 7/2/14 12:56pm Doug Schulkind:

A number of years ago, Budweiser or some other horsepiss outfit did a radio commercial masquerading as a Public Service Announcement. Its subject was "drinking and driving," and it featured a freakishly spot-on cover of "Vehicle." The only real difference was in the vocal refrain. It went: "I'm your vehicle baby, I'm your designated driver."
  Wed. 7/2/14 12:56pm Dean:

Even useless-er trivia would be the reason for the band name. Wikithingum says it's 'cuz one of the band members read "Julius Caesar." Well, yeah, but still, why?

cloudy breezy day out here in the bay area, great day to put some work in and listen to another awesome show, happy wednesday!
Avatar Wed. 7/2/14 1:02pm originalpeeps:

I obviously have not listened to enough Johnny Paycheck ...
Avatar    Wed. 7/2/14 1:04pm listener james from westwood:

@Dean: That's basically the same story as in the biography I read.
@Amanda: It compensates for the occasional programming book that's way above my pay grade to understand. :) I also edited Satriani's for the same publisher, but I enjoyed Peterik's more. My editing notes for Satch were mostly musical instruments and recording equipment, organized by type. The pedals alone were legion!!

I'm still committed to making a Simpsons show happen. Even if it's a one-off.
Avatar    Wed. 7/2/14 1:13pm Amanda:

@Nate, me too -- glad to hear you are still on board! I have been waiting for the "right moment" to do it, but soon, soon... I'd like to do one soon and then another for Simpsons Day in December
Avatar    Wed. 7/2/14 1:15pm Amanda:

btw, everyone should listen to MORE Johnny Paycheck!

@Jeff, you can see I played something from your premium. I may have even pronounced Sonny Sharrock's name right!
Avatar    Wed. 7/2/14 1:34pm listener james from westwood:

Chance that CBS 101.1 in this area will play the Dell-Vikings over the holiday weekend? Wouldn't stake too much coin on it. Nertz. I want my cookout sounding like George Lucas's Modesto, CA.

I'm saying keep it locked to FMU, is what I'm saying.
