Yay! Thomas! First Friday evening since schedule change I'm not getting ready for farmer's market in am, so glad to be here. :-)
Avatar 12:07am
Thomas:

Hi Holly! So do you sell produce or what?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10am
Andrew Waterloo:

I'm going to the farmer's market tomorrow as well. Taking the kids on the steam train.

I live in West Virginia a state hard hit by EPA-but I love new regulations will mean our kids live better--our miners could be put to work on solar power

Hello and thanks for the sounds tonight Thomas.

Holly in NC:

@Thomas - I dearly wish, but no, I'm a purchaser. This week one of MY clients gave me a bouncy check for 2 weeks work, so can't shop tomorrow. Thankfully I have a freezer full of cool items I've prepped from prior market days - everyone who laughed at me when I saved & blanched kohlrabi leaves can go f*k themselves! ;-)
Avatar 12:27am
Thomas:

I've never tried the leaves!
Avatar 12:28am
Thomas:

hey gang
  12:28am
coalhard:

are kohlrabi leaves a kin to fresh kale we grow here and cook a tasty dinner?
Avatar 12:30am
Holly in NC:

Plus my wonderful ex-husband gifted me with 1/2 a deer, so I have venison up the ying yang. Sausage for breakfast tomorrow! (ex really is a great man, no snark here)

it's a cabbage ,, I fink ,,
  12:32am
coalhard:

Have fun holly --nothing beats deer meat
Avatar 12:32am
Holly in NC:

@coalhard - more akin to collards in texture/toughness, but somewhat milder/sweeter. Not as bitter as mature kale.

@Thomas - do it!
Avatar 12:33am
fleep:

Wiki sez
Kohlrabi has been created by artificial selection for lateral meristem growth (a swollen, nearly spherical shape); its origin in nature is the same as that of cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, collard greens, and Brussels sprouts
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33am
Tome:

guess you can eat the leaves raw if you have a launching pad nearby ,,,

Avatar 12:36am
Holly in NC:

@fleep - for kohlrabi newbies, I highly recommend serving small (baseball or under size) peeled & sliced roots as one would raw jicama, with lime & chile. I use raw kohlrabi anywhere one would use a veg chip of any nature.
  12:37am
coalhard:

as Spock once said if it uses fuel it must have a tail pipe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39am

that sounds good spicy with the jicama too ,, I can dig it ,,

Song is also on the hilariously named unoffical comp "make the japanese collector nerd sweat vol 2"

@Droll - hook me up with a dehydrator and possibility increases dramatically! But also need different cuts than those on hand.

@Thomas - you have the Hi Sheriffs lp! You are 1st in all ways! How is it? (this song is great)
Avatar 2:14am

Oh sure, it's always the wrong cut... Just tell me what time and side dish to bring.
Avatar 2:15am

Actually I don't know! I played that from the 12" I brought from home. Don't even know if that version is on the LP. But we do have it here

Hey Jay!
Avatar 2:35am
Holly in NC:

Hi Jay/London!

I saw Adam & the Ants play in the Milford Ct Jai Alai fronton (rip), and they were awesome. They stayed at the local HoJo's and I missed them by a minute, 1 of my friends snagged a fork they'd used out of a bus tub. I wore my marching band uniform to the show, don't laugh, it loooked pretty much exactly like their costumes. And face paint, of course.

Thank you Thomas!

Avatar 2:40am

@Droll no, but fishnets yes. So very sexy under the marching band gear. Ack my younger self.

I wish I still smoked so I could wave a lighter for Second Life.
Avatar 2:44am
Droll:

If it makes you feel any better, around that time I was bleaching my jeans and had teased hair. Skinny ties: Check. Pastel sport coat with rolled up sleeves: Check. High tops with tongue out: check.
Avatar 2:47am
Holly in NC:

If you were a drummer, we probably would've dated. Especially if you were equally into Rush & the Ramones.
Avatar 2:51am
Jay/London:

@ Holly I remember Him Coming to My Local Pub With a gun he was Just A little .... well He seems to be ok Now
Avatar 2:53am
Droll:

You never see the high tops with the tongue out anymore, proof it's overdue for a comeback. That's how you'll recognize me when I show up for my venison jerky.

[Sigh] Thanks for Food-Fashion Collision time with Thomas Storck!
Avatar 2:53am
