Morning, Bob! Just getting caffeinated ...
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 8:41am listener james from westwood:

Heh! Thought of Amanda when I saw the header graphic! Morning, Gary and all!
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 8:42am Gary:

Although I'm pretty sure I've seen as much of the Simpson's as the next guy or gal, James, my memory is not as good as Amanda's and I could never pull one of those episode recalls off!
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 8:44am Gary:

Did I really just put an apostrophe in the Simpsons? *Sigh*
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 9:00am ndbob:

morning Gary and everyone!
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 9:01am Gary:

Howdy, Bob! Two Bobs in the house
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 9:02am Doug Schulkind:

Bodegalicious! I gotta run, but I will hopefully catch the last half hour (so save all the good shit for then). Go Gary!
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 9:03am Guido from Cologne:

Hi Gary, first time.
white tea @ noon in my case :-)
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 9:04am Gary:

Congratulations Doug (and Lincoln, of course, who I think did all the work?)

Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 9:06am Holly in NC:

Hi Gary! Morning all !

Doug, if you're still here , please share congrats & best wishes to Lincoln!

Packing lunch, will be listening 'til 10ish, then will be putting together diy bureaus for my current client.... last night when assessing parts I counted an extra screw... I always worry when there's an extra screw..
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 9:07am Gary:

Howdy Parq and Holly! Parq, that makes (at least) two of us!
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 9:09am ndbob:

Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 9:10am Gary:

I'm trying to imagine what a DIY bureau might look like ....
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 9:14am earrie:

Good morning.

Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 9:17am earrie:

Glad to be listening!

Am now sitting in the auditorium (with the sound off, sadly). Pharrell's "Happy" is blasting over the PA. I wonder if they'll take requests.
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 9:17am Parq:

I joined the playlist (and the show) late -- what's up with Doug and Lincoln?

Jealous! I just had some toast with cheddar ... and am working on my second giant mug of black coffee
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 9:44am Uncle Michael:

Why does "ANSWER'S" have that apostrophe?
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 9:45am Gary:

Hola, Henry!
  Fri. 6/6/14 9:46am Jill B.:

Wow, another great session with GPS (that's Gary for short)! Sitting here sipping my morning coffee, paying some bills, and trying to organize the clutter on my desk.........so....Good Morning Everyone!!!
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 9:47am Gary:

Good morning, Mom!
  Fri. 6/6/14 9:50am Jill B.:

And, Doug, congratulations to you and Lincoln. A milestone for both of you!
  Fri. 6/6/14 9:51am Jill B.:

Gary, how's your back?????
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 9:53am still b/p:

The fifteen minutes I've caught so far have been first-chop.

I like the graphic element a'peekin' into the comment space. By itself, the gray disc could be anything -- it's that ol' bevel moon.

My bureau looks like it was in a fight, with almost all the cheap rails having failed. And I'm sure that's how it'd look if I'd assembled it myself. It remains an NIY item....Neglect It Yourself.
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 9:58am Gary:

Morning, b/p! ... and Mom, my back is much better, thank you
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:14am ndbob:

morning Jill and UM!
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:21am Uncle Michael:

Hi everyone...I'm back and forth from the keyboards as I always am on Friday mornings...
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:24am Lewis:

morning all - nice tunes this morning: thanks Gary
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 10:25am Gary:

Hola Lewis!
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:26am listener james from westwood:

I always imagine FMU DJs are a diffuse quantum blur of song-picking and playlist-polishing in the hours preceding their radio shows, only collapsing into a specific waveform when the ON AIR light goes on.
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:26am listener james from westwood:

Stirring stuff thus far at the halfway mark, Gary!
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:26am Lewis:

@Uncle Micheal - finally tracked down "Masterpiece" and my local independent used vinyl outlet (Hymies for those of you in Mpls) and gave it a listen last night. Really liked it! Thanks ($3! disk VG, Cover G-)
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:27am Lewis:

In that same visit I got a Don Johnson album for $0.00 - hard to tell who was the winner on that deal
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 10:29am Gary:

I remember Hymies, I think -- I used to live in MPLS
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:32am Lewis:

Hymies has been around a while apparently (I am fairly new here) very good curation and excellent quality records. On record store day they put out the dreck for free. and being the bottom feeder that I am, I clean up! (Lion in Winter soundtrack in VG)
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:32am Uncle Michael:

I'm glad you like that record, Lewis.

James, I find I'm much more relaxed if I have the show together WELL before Friday, noon...as in days before. Not that I won't call multiple audibles after I have it organized....
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 10:33am Gary:

I lived in the Twin Cities from 1991-1997, when I moved here. Moved there from San Francisco. Culture shock! (To say nothing of weather shock)
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:34am Lewis:

the weather shock is strong! I find last winter still lurks in my brain like a low level fear even as the summer is spectacular!
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:35am Van in DC:

Dang. I missed Akiko Yano? I missed Akiko Yano. Dang.

hi!
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 10:36am Gary:

Howdy, Van!
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:36am ndbob:

The culture shock when I moved to North Dakota was about what I expected - nothing much to do there - and the weather shock was mostly the length rather then the depth of the winter. Definitely the only time I looked to the Twin Cities as a warmer place:)
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:38am Lewis:

@ndbob - hate to say it, but I did feel better about things here when I thought about things in your neck of the woods. but now you are somewhere else I think (Illinois?)
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:40am ndbob:

Bloomington, Indiana.. much warmer:) - i would have been pretty stressed by the past winter here, if not for having come from North Dakota
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:41am Lewis:

the Kims in Columbia neighborhood was gone when I was last there - but yeah very good curation.
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 10:46am Gary:

Bob, my sister lives in ND ... am seeing her for the first time in about a decade next week!
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:51am ndbob:

@Gary Where in ND?
  Fri. 6/6/14 10:52am Jill B.:

Hey, all you Bodega Pop fans.....sorry for pulling Gary away from you this coming Wednesday. Never fear, he will return to your listening ears! Perhaps we can all tune in and listen to and support his replacement that night????
  Fri. 6/6/14 10:53am will:

Not to get all gushy but I really dig this show, from all the Sundays, and it's great to hear you in this time slot.
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 10:54am Gary:

"His replacement" will be the uber-fabulous Doug Schulkind
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 10:54am Gary:

Thanks, Will!
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:55am Lewis:

Doug Schulkind - I think I have heard of him….
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 10:55am ndbob:

Yep - and the time fits to where I can listen to the whole show live
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 10:58am daorbaa:

crazy good song this unknown arabic... is this available on CD ?
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 10:59am Gary:

Not sure where I got it, Daorbaa
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 11:02am Lewis:

Holy Cow - Go Gary!
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 11:02am Doug Schulkind:

I think you meant to say "goober-fabulous," Gary!
  Fri. 6/6/14 11:02am Jill B.:

Many, many thanks to Doug for making it possible for Gary to be with us in Oregon this coming week. @ndbob, it's Dickinson, ND.
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 11:04am Lewis:

@Doug - hey aren't you supposed to be somewhere? (not on the "radio")
Avatar    Fri. 6/6/14 11:08am Parq:

Doug, put your phone away and pay attention.
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 11:09am Doug Schulkind:

I'm home! Graduation over! It helps that the school is just at the end of the block. Turn it up to eleven, Gary.

Happy graduation--and congratulations!
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 11:12am still b/p:

Turn it up to 11 for the packed-house-madness graduation blowout at your house? Are there international cover versions of "School's Out?"

Good morning, Gary. Slowly climbing out of the well of sleep. Yaaawwwn...
Avatar Fri. 6/6/14 11:15am Gary:

@still b/p
Nothing could top the Alice Cooper original. Except for that Javanese gamelan version, of course. (Ha! Gary just dashed over to Google to find it!)

I was just kidding, Gary. No, really.

Jessie and I read that Pittsburgh wedding-cookies story right after we decided to accept Pitt's offer and move here. That article might have pushed us over the edge. Have we been invited to one damn wedding yet? HARDLY!
