Good Wednesday, Amanda and all! My GTDR attendance has been spotty this week due to work, but happy to be ears-on now (and to have the archives for remedial listening!).

I'm poolside in Cape May NJ groovin' on the the Duane Train with my Big Jambox. Getting positive feedback from stranger poolmates. Spreading the gospel

YEAH MUFFS.
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 12:16pm listener james from westwood:

Always wondered how The Muffs would sound doing "Basket Case." I suspect they'd set it ablaze.
Avatar Wed. 6/4/14 12:19pm nah:

hello to my favorite scenario!
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 12:21pm Amanda:

@nanantatee and everyone -- this is THE place to re-hear all your first-boyfriend music, it seems. Which is GREAT!

Avatar Wed. 6/4/14 12:30pm Stevel:

listener james from westwood: Definitely a great fill in last week. As I told Miz A re. Twitter, I was finally reunited with the Young Fresh Fellows song, "Amy Grant." and am ridiculously happy about it. Not knowing the artist (heard, most likely in 87, when it came out,) it was not the easiest item to Google.
Avatar Wed. 6/4/14 12:32pm Stevel:

...and, alas, I will be checking the archive for today's show. The good news is I'm off to a press conference where GM is giving our theater money for a capital campaign, which is nice.

Ciao.

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...
Beginning in a few weeks, Jesse Kaminsky is going to add an extra hour to his program, Kaminsky Kamoutsky. It begins at 7pm on Tuesday evenings and will extend now to 10pm. I will get the official word out when we have an official date. More Kaminsky! More Kamoutsky!
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 12:38pm ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!

I'm really glad to hear Jesse is having his Kaminsky let-outsky.

"Yes, that's quite a pickle" (Homer turns crimson)
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 12:50pm listener james from westwood:

OK, just laughed really hard at recalling Nelson's "I can think of at least two things wrong with that title!"
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 12:53pm listener james from westwood:

I am reading a book on nuclear disasters. As the author begins leading up to another accident, I'm either whistling the Simpsons theme, or that bit of the Itchy & Scratchy incidental music that presages disaster.
  Wed. 6/4/14 12:53pm Sean:

This was a monster of an episode. Agree on the Nelson quote, James
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 12:55pm ndbob:

I'm certainly glad I left Knoxville well before the World's Fair.. @James Is that the book that came out last year to much acclaim?
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 12:57pm listener james from westwood:

ndbob: This book is good and quite Mary Roach-like in spots (Atomic Accidents, James Mahaffey), but the one you're likely thinking of is "Command and Control," by "Fast Food Nation"'s Eric Schlosser—gripping, detailed, and horrifying.
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 12:59pm ndbob:

@James that is the one I was thinking of - and adding both to my endless reading list
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:03pm ndbob:

one of the record stores here in Bloomington has almost all of the Eccentric Soul releases - both CD and vinyl.
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:04pm Amanda:

Oooohhh ndbob, lucky.
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:09pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Zats...I missed Simpsons Time. I was at lunch. My favorite part of that episode is where Homer puts on the safety helmet, screams and then announces "I have thought this out." That and when he dumps the cola on the console.
Wed. 6/4/14 1:12pm jeff g on the app:

CLASSIC BLOW.
  Wed. 6/4/14 1:14pm jay c:

another awesome show, great one to go back to work to
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:16pm Amanda:

Thanks sewmuch jay c! And Ken -- sorry! We talked earlier about the values/drawbacks of having Simpsons Time earlier in the show for a change.
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:24pm listener james from westwood:

Brenda Spencer, Amanda's playing your song!
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:24pm listener james from westwood:

(Plus OF COURSE I CLAPPED ALONG. What monster wouldn't?)
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:26pm ndbob:

she was recently up for parole
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:28pm listener james from westwood:

I understand the opening piano bit figures in a "House" episode.

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...
Be sure to tune back in to the Drummer Stream (as if you'd ever leave!) at 7pm for Gary Sullivan's Bodega Pop Live show.

And what's more, you'll get extra Bodega Pop as Gary will be filling in for me this coming Friday, 9am to noon!
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:46pm listener james from westwood:

@ndbob, not to add to your overtaxed reading list, but hearing this Jackson 5 cut reminds me of the excellent Michael Jackson biography from last year or so. As horrifying in its way as "Command and Control."
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:48pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Howdy all. Amanda, despite not being part of the Simpson Segment Timing discussion, it was lovely to meet you at the RF Sunday... And your beer selection was topnotch!
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:52pm Uncle Michael:

Rockfire Funk Express should not be confused with the Rock-A-Fire Explosion.
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:53pm Amanda:

Hey! No sass about the Simpsons Timing discussion!
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:54pm Amanda:

j/k Kevin -- it was great to meet you too and hope you enjoyed your own beer or beers...

Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:54pm ndbob:

@James I will add it:)
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:55pm Amanda:

It seems that the Rockfire Funk Express were an earlier incarnation of the group Death. </funfact>
Avatar    Wed. 6/4/14 1:56pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Absolutely AN! All made even better by the fact that every dime was going to FMU.
