  Fri. 5/23/14 3:18pm Dean:

So did "Smile" do for dentistry what "Tommy" did for pinball arcades?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 3:18pm common:

how the hell did they do that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 3:20pm Caryn:

Hello all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 3:22pm Carmichael:

Brian Wilson is an incredible arranger and engineer, OCD as hell. Hi Kurt, I'm hooked on a minotaur!
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 3:23pm coelacanth:

...the only pretenders song i really like!
  Fri. 5/23/14 3:25pm Dean:

For me it's "Back on the Chain Gang," mostly for Bremner's guitar playing.
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 3:26pm coelacanth:

When my sister was at college calling someone "precious" was her crew's lady-like way of telling someone to fuck-off.
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 3:28pm coelacanth:

...actually i like the whole first album; But that song stands up to repeated listening above the others, for me.
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 3:32pm coelacanth:

Dean- yes they were excellent players.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 3:32pm common:

Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 3:36pm northguineahills:

yaye! Nirvana!
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 3:44pm coelacanth:

There's a local 3-piece band near me who-at least every halloween- changes their name to "nirvanapaltz" and plays practically every nirvana song there is...probably more accurate to the studio versions than Nirvana ever pulled off. (maybe cuz none of them drinks much) ...Those who like nirvana's less pop songs especially may find it's worth travelling for.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 3:45pm common:

i love that nirvana song. one o the best
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 3:46pm common:

coelacanth: my friends in philly did a nirvana band thing. they were pretty great, but they got sick of it.
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 3:46pm Billy Jam:

Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 3:53pm coelacanth:

common...Yeah,i think i'd get tired fast of being in a cover band. These guys have their own all originals thing going on,though.(which i like, but dont "love")They probably practice nirvana songs a few times in october then play on halloween.
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 3:55pm Billy Jam:

Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 3:56pm Cecile:

Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 3:59pm northguineahills:

I once dated a girl that saw this guy when he was in town. It wasn't serious, obviously, but, i got into some of their shows for free and some nice parties. That was a lifetime ago (before this album).
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 4:00pm northguineahills:

werds! Billy Jam!
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 4:00pm Cecile:

I guess I mean just the thoughts in the lyrics are a big red flag. he might be a perfectly nice person
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 4:14pm Parq:

I dunno what movie this is for, but I think we can take it for granted that Showtime will run it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 4:26pm Caryn:

  Fri. 5/23/14 4:31pm dollphur:

Well, that was just fantastic. Made my day. Thanks, Kurt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 4:33pm Carmichael:

OK, back from the Indian food truck. Looks like I missed a real humdinger, except for Nirvana. HA!
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 4:35pm northguineahills:

Dude, don't diss Nirvana!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 4:35pm steve:

oh no you didn't Carm!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 4:36pm maestroso:

How is Helsinki in August? I expect to be there at the end of the month for a week or so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 4:36pm Carmichael:

@ngh, I'm the only person on earth who can't stand them. That's why I'm a curmudgeon.
  Fri. 5/23/14 4:38pm Dean:

Not the only, Carmichael.
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 4:39pm Cecile:

I like a big handful of their songs, but I don't think they made a whole album that holds together.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 4:40pm Caryn:

@Maestro: hmm, tricky. Sometimes a bit cool, a little below 20 degrees and possibly rainy. Sometimes the hottest month, so unending sun and over 30 degrees. In other words: no idea yet. But probably quite nice and warm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 4:41pm Caryn:

Dammit, missed the last "-so" in your name, maestroso. Sorry about that.
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 4:41pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 4:41pm common:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 4:43pm maestroso:

Haha, got it... unpredictable! just like here in New Jersey. I'll make sure to bring an umbrella. Thanks Caryn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 4:43pm chris:

l8r common... take the monkey people with you, please.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 4:44pm Caryn:

@maestroso: the historical average for late August is 18-20 degrees and sunny. But who knows about averages, we just had the hottest May day in over 50 years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 4:45pm Carmichael:

Now The Monkeys, I like everything by them!
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 4:47pm Cecile:

I was in this meeting this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 4:47pm maestroso:

Well, 18-20 sounds nice indeed, and lots of sunlight is good. I spent the month of November 1992 in Helsinki and loved it then, so this should be good.
  Fri. 5/23/14 4:48pm dc water:

Before I saw the playlist, I thought maybe this was Steve Coogan.
  Fri. 5/23/14 4:49pm Dean:

Jaap Blonk's mom's son?
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 4:51pm Cecile:

now the monkeys and parakeets are conspiring
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 4:55pm Finbar:

OMG, I missed Hooked On a Feeling. What a song. My brothers and I used to play that on 16rpm from an old record player my parents had, for haunted houses in our garage.
  Fri. 5/23/14 5:08pm deanogeo:

More sleeping talking here?
Avatar Fri. 5/23/14 5:12pm Finbar:

In German no less.
  Fri. 5/23/14 5:13pm Dean:

Bless you!
  Fri. 5/23/14 5:23pm Lawrence:

Your mellifluous reading of the petty and peevish fan mail made me happy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 5:23pm Carmichael:

Yeah, Noel Coward!
  Fri. 5/23/14 5:24pm Dean:

Not the Joe Cocker I remember.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/23/14 5:25pm Jeff:

A live Coward jam!
