"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Morning, John. Nice start to the show.
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 6:04am Sem Chumbo:

This is a fine way to start. Good morning, John. I passed the others getting their designer coffees from an itinerant barista parked outside the station in an old VW microbus. They'll be along shortly.
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 6:09am George of Troy:

Hi Sem! I must have missed the VW... I'll have to be content with my Sencha this morning.
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 6:09am AndrewC.:

Goddamn fancy coffee is getting too expensive. Luckily I can get eternal drones to catapult me towards the infinite for free on WFMU.
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 6:14am John Allen:

fancy coffee should never be introduced before 7 am
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 6:15am Sem Chumbo:

Hi, GOT. Isn't Sencha some kind of Cold War two stroke one passenger car made from Albanian parts in Odessa? And Andrew C, I needs me an eternal drone to keep my shadow company. Think ebay has?
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 6:19am John Allen:

I'm confused, are you talking coffee or vehicles? sanka is a decaffeinated racist coffee
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 6:19am George of Troy:

Sem, if it is, I need one.
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 6:21am Sem Chumbo:

JA:Monkey poo coffee before 7 AM in the defense of liberty is no vice. Some might call it elitist; to me, it is simply simian.
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 6:25am bibi:

hi all. give it to me, lubomyr.
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 6:26am John Allen:

if you are saying that the framers of the us constitution got it wrong, i side with freedom and this 20 ounce foam cup i am nursing
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 6:30am fred:

Good morning JA, guten TZAG listeners. Free coffee at work for me thanks to a lisp symposium.
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 6:32am AndrewC.:

Shouldn't you be listening to the presentation, Fred?
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 6:34am bibi:

only lisps are attending lisp symposium. so obvious.
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 6:34am Sem Chumbo:

Ya gotta love sibilance to appreciate a lisp presentation. Or fancy Spanish.
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 6:35am fred:

@AndrewC: I've not invited, I'm not a researcher, just tech support. But for once we peons got something more than an email telling us to stay away from the free food
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 6:39am bibi:

john, if it's starclicking you are looking for, you'll get some.
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 6:40am John Allen:

click baiting sounds
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 6:41am fred:

The symposium is over, we get the leftovers. It did happen though: www.european-lisp-symposium.org
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 6:42am AndrewC.:

Hopefully all those researchers are too health conscious and left you guys the good stuff.
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 6:44am AndrewC.:

Still, it must be pretty cool working at IRCAM, even if there is no symposium going on.
Wed. 5/7/14 6:45am That Bipolar Guy:

Good morning Mr Allen
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 6:45am bibi:

wow, great graphic design for the symposium website. 1996 in da house.
i like it when very pragmatic topics are turned into totally abstract lectures.
Wed. 5/7/14 6:45am That Bipolar Guy:

Omg I was up all night battling bed bugs :-(
  Wed. 5/7/14 6:46am marmalade kitty:

Hola!
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 6:47am fred:

@AndrewC: I'm not involved with the music side of it at all, but the location is extremely convenient
@bibi: a pragmatic topic? where?
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 6:50am John Allen:

bipo guy, break your lease and put all of your books and records into boxes, seal them, and stick them in storage for 6 months. this worked for me, and it changed my life
Wed. 5/7/14 6:55am That Bipolar Guy:

Mr Allen
what lease? I haven't paid the rent on my personal hellhole since January
Wed. 5/7/14 6:57am That Bipolar Guy:

It's a new bed that I need but I don't have $1000 dollars. Would anyone like to donate $1000 so I could by a twin bed with back support. I have arthritis in my lower back
Wed. 5/7/14 6:59am That Bipolar Guy:

Bed bugs man.... they are persistent little (expletive)
  Wed. 5/7/14 7:08am marmalade kitty:

declutter is the only way, TBG
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 7:10am George of Troy:

John, did you see that RVNG has dug into the unreleased archives of K. Leimer? Should be a good one.
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 7:19am Ken From Hyde Park:

When free coffee is available, I'll drink it. I don't recall ever buying coffee.
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 7:22am Michele:

Good Morning John Allen and others.
Wed. 5/7/14 7:26am Pete L in Columbus Ohio:

I love the sound of surf in the morning
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 7:31am Guido from Cologne:

I'm afraid LISP wouldn't be for me.
guten TZAG everyone!
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 7:35am bibi:

@fred, being sadly an autocad user, lisp is a very pragmatic topic to me.
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 7:37am Ken From Hyde Park:

@Michele - Hi, are you having breakfast in food bed today?
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 7:41am Sem Chumbo:

This is marvelously sad. Beautifully evocative. Thanks, JA.
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 7:48am Michele:

@ken Ha! Usually only coffee in here in the mornings, foodbed is mostly for dinner, second dinner, and late night eating...
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 7:49am Michele:

John Allen your marathon premium horse shirt is amazing!
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 7:51am John Allen:

Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 7:54am Brian in UK:

Good day Mr Allen, thanks for the tease, Michele.
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 8:00am Ken From Hyde Park:

@Michele - I visualize a little Roomba-like coffee robot that delivers the coffee into the foodbed room. Like a quaint little coffee butler. Also, the morning paper.
Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 8:16am braveness23:

B23 here! So glad I caught at least some of Golden Earring
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 8:17am Cheri Pi:

Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 8:27am braveness23:

Yeah, I was running through my mental list of potential sources of windfall cash this morning. The prospects didn't look so good so I decided to come to work.
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 8:31am maestroso:

Woods. New to me, very cool.
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 8:33am common:

Avatar Wed. 5/7/14 8:54am βrian:

Hola. First-time listener. I can't believe I missed Abdullah Ibrahim. I first saw him in the 80s, on a lark, not knowing who he was. Wow.
Avatar    Wed. 5/7/14 8:57am Sem Chumbo:

Thanks for the cabbage rolls and coffee this morning, Mr. Allen. Also the death polka was perfect. See you next time!
  Wed. 5/7/14 8:57am marmalade kitty:
