Hey Joe, you were in my dream last night...you were picking up blueberries from me at my work. which is weird cuz blueberries aren't even in season
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 9:05am Mike East:

Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 9:14am Joe McG:

Good morning, everybody! @Mike East: That's truly weird, since I eat blueberries every single morning with my breakfast!

Hey Joe! All! RIP Larry Ramos of The Association. : (
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 9:18am Sem Chumbo:

Hey, Joe, and all. Last night, I had the strangest dream I never dreamed before.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 9:19am Mike East:

aha, makes total sense, then. I switch between blue, black, and rasp, depending on which looks freshest and traveled the shortest distance to get to me. Usually store them at work too. It all comes together. Joe, if you ever need some berries, hit me up at work. Now off to the bus!
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 9:20am Joe McG:

@VP: Sorry to hear that. I'll get some Association on this or next week, since I love them.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 9:22am earrie:

I'm with ya on the blueberries with breakfast, Joe. Blueberries and cranberries both have a derivation of 'vaccine' in the first half of their Latin name, Vaccinium.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 9:23am Joe McG:

Hey, earrie! I didn't know that! Does anyone feel that blueberries are actually blue? I think they are, but someone insisted to me that there is no such thing as blue food.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 9:23am Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

I am really feeling this song tonight and I've only had one drink 2hrs ago...

Further proof that 1971 was the best year in music. At least in my humble opinion. That year just keeps coming up...
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:09am Rick from SC:

how did the 10cc guys get involved?
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:10am V Priceless:

would be interested in hearing some back-stories about extent of 10cc's involvement!
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:13am Davee:

I agree, 1971 was a fine year for music.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:14am Cecile:

the 10cc guys were backing everyone and their dog at the time.
Burnishing up their chops for their career.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:15am V Priceless:

good point, Cecile!
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:16am Cecile:

I wonder if the famous manager was Jonathan King? Because he was managing Hotlegs/10cc at the time.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:17am Cecile:

Peter, you have the most charming accent. I had to Google it to trace the origins.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:18am Cecile:

Graham Gouldman is a genius. Except for that time with Wax. Not so good.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:19am Cecile:

oh, this is good. I am a 10cc nerd.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:19am V Priceless:

5. Bloody Tourists.....not too shabby either
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:24am Cecile:

and we're agreed that Deceptive Bends is the start of a long unhappy period of suck?
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:24am V Priceless:

haha! that's great, C !
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:25am Cecile:

Dreadlocks Holiday is actually funny when you consider that there's a mugging in there and they're getting high and it was a top 10 hit.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:27am Mike East:

Got to work and my yogurt was frozen and I'm out of berries...the prophecy hath been foretold. (I forgot to mention that in my dream, when Joe picked up the blueberries, I was apologetic that they had accidentally frozen in the refrigerator)
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:28am V Priceless:

true that! Deceptive Bends I grew to love...I'm very defensive about them...hard for me to say '10cc' and 'suck' in same sentence, but yes, I hear you, Cecile! Reunion with original 4 would be a freakin' wonderful thing! Think I'd travel to the moon for that!
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:29am Cecile:

I've tried to like Deceptive Bends so hard. It hasn't taken at all.

I would too! And they can still sing - Lol Creme showed up at a Graham Gouldman show and still could pull off "Old Wild Men"
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:30am V Priceless:

'Sheet Music' remains the principal reason why I'm such a misfit to this very day! It damaged me heavily...in a good way! Ha!
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:31am Cecile:

I heard How Dare You first cause Art for Art's Sake was a hit everywhere else but the US and i was in Oz at the time. Then I went and found everything.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:32am quinn:

I love 10cc so much. Went to see "them" play a couple years ago in NYC and it was the NERDIEST crowd I've EVER seen. And the most fun show.

I'll bet quinn
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:34am Greg from Bloomfield:

I have nothing to contribute (except Seinfeld references) but I am listening intently!
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:34am V Priceless:

wow - cool perspective, C! I was with them since the first record...'How Dare You' seemed the perfect evolution of their sound and demented sense of humor! Shame they split after that! @ quinn - I was there!! LOL

oh, it could be...don't know why I thought it was German TV
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:42am Cecile:

they were such nerds. Sweaters and bowling shirts.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:43am Cecile:

Ramases has a great voice. They don't sing like that anymore for the most part.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:44am V Priceless:

I recommend the recent 10cc box...the entire '74 live set is included on DVD, and the sound is superb!
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:45am Cecile:

I gotta save up for that, Vprice.

First heard Space Hymns thanks to David Tibet, who did a guest DJ spot on a podcast somewhere years ago -- evidently he was a huge fan of that record, & yay for that. 'tis excellent.

Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:48am V Priceless:

@ Cecile - yeah, it was a bit pricey...and I don't usually go for box sets, personally...but it did include a Storm Thorgerson-signed print of the cover art, as well as some rare tracks...and as you know, they didn't record tons of extra stuff.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:49am thunderish' Jay:

(heart) only a metronome, all that matters is the brain
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:51am Cecile:

Yeah, I would like it for those tracks and the DVD.

It sounds like he was overmedicated. They were using lithium and God knows what else bavck then.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:52am earrie:

Hey @thunderish' Jay, what bpm does your brain tap to?
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:53am Cecile:

I am a big fan of modern brain drugs, after initial skepticism.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:53am V Priceless:

sad story...I think Del Shannon was a victim of the same situation....over-medication. Shame.
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:55am V Priceless:

I can hear Kevin Godley singing this
Avatar Thu. 5/1/14 11:56am Cecile:

Yeah. I have been blessed with vigilant doctors and well-tolerated meds.

Yeah, it also sounds like they overdid it for Del Shannon.
Me too, VP!
