Beautiful, Cutler. I love this, from Wikipedia:
"Cutler was a noted eccentric, dressing in a distinctive style including plus-fours and hats adorned with many badges, travelling mainly by bicycle and often communicating by means of sticky labels printed with "Cutlerisms", one of which, "never knowingly understood" came to be applied by supporters and detractors alike."

I remember the spacey chick in high school "Tracer" Tracy was beside herself showing everyone her Diamond Dogs album in the hall in 1974. Had I know Rebel Rebel and the rest of the kickass tuneage was on there, I would have been pretty phyched too.

Why the focus on 1974? Is our esteemed host turning 40 this week?
Avatar 10:12am
Chris M.:

@fred i've been going back through the decades over various shows. check out the archive page and you'll see: www.wfmu.org...

I'm obviously a newbie to your show, so I didn't know that. I'm rarely at home at this time, and previous slots didn't agree with my schedule either. I hope I'll get to catch more in the future

That's what I love about WFMU -- it's all about freeform and context... not necessarily excluding "classic rock" or popular bands, per se.

Black Water is my all-time fav Doobies tune. Remembering this period when nasty rumors that gasoline would top $0.50 a gallon mark and the sheer terror stories it could go as high as $1 per gallon. hehe.

DanH:

Morning Chris. Can we get any James Brown here?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36am
fred:

As much as I love Neil's music, Pono looks like a total rip-off scheme. It's sad to see him get there
Avatar 10:39am
Eyepatch Fox:

What ever happened to that live action version of The Last Unicorn there were rumors about happening? (With Christopher Lee playing the same part, I believe)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am
mariano:

Is The Unicorn the last time the word gay was used in its original sense and unironically?
Avatar 10:42am
Chris M.:

@DanH sorry but i'm not familiar enough with James Brown's 1974 releases
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am
DanH:

@Chris, Big Payback and Funky President are the only ones I know that came out in 1974.
Avatar 10:45am
Chris M.:

@DanH oh, i guess i am familiar with them then but i won't get to them this week
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47am
DanH:

@Chris, that's cool, no worries.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am
fred:

Totally unrelated: I heard there's a petition out there to release Delia Derbyshire's work for the BBC. I guess I should figure it out and sign it... but first there's some ironing that stubbornly refuses to do itself. I'll be back...
