The brilliant buskers are near the top of my list of favorite NYC things. I love the kora players. And Mecca Bodega is often making a killer racket in the evenings at Atlantic Ave. There was a really cool young singer at 77th St. (6 train) on Fri. evening but I can't remember her name. Never seen her there before.

Of course, the Japanese aesthetic trope of grievous natural disaster was extremely well-developed even before nuclear war. Earthquakes. Tropical storms. Not just the normal natural disaster narratives, from anywhere, they always had imperatives. Fear. Real fear. And then, what, you get nuked? Twice?? It's fucken nuts. Godzilla, sure, but also every early Miyazaki movie, yknow, Akira.

And MAYBE Miyazaki's tv-serial "Conan Future Boy" is the greatest animated TV show of all time.

and American involvement and control of Japan after the war is the reason they ended up of having Fukushima built on the East of the island. A stupid place to put a nuclear reactor as on the coast susceptible to the most active tectonic plate on the planet. Ghey don't' call it the ring of fire for nothing.

I bet some old resentments have been brought back after that one.

I Bought a tTerry Brooks in the hope to get somthing really psychedelic and was pretty disappointed at the time, since the vocal delievery was kinda Metal lead singing. Also wasn't happy with the jamming. But i bought that album full price and i was not too wealthy at the time.

It's pretty annoying in times when your heard some "pro nuclear" people blabbering laments about the exit from nuclear power supply. Stuff like "we are loosing our connection to technical developement. Our future ..." What kind of damn future the're talking about? Future from the good old 50ies? Or the future of 10000 years nuclear waste radiation?
