@Whooda - Like the TV ads for medication say: "If the condition lasts for longer than four hours, consult a physician."
Avatar Sat. 4/26/14 9:24pm Whooda:

I dunno, a Hello Children With Faye without a cool animated gif is kinda' like a box of cracker jacks with no prize inside; imagine a Tootsie pop without a chewy chocolaty center.

@Carmichael OK, I Googled Downtown art galleries this week and realized, to my horror, I didn't recognize any of them. It would be pointless to hope that some of the blues dives are still around, like Ironsides or the Torch Club.

DJs can see into the future. They know what music we will hear next.
Sat. 4/26/14 9:43pm Rob from Maryland:

Faye, we caught part of your first set on my partner's iPhone while driving home just now. It was great to hear the Wedding Present song, that is one of my all time favorites. :-)

Atom Heart Mother?
Avatar Sat. 4/26/14 9:59pm Whooda:

I'm allergic to physical exercise Cool John so when I hear 'marathon' I run the other way.

@ I'm not being catty, I am afraid there is a group called Gram Parson's and my observation about 'obscure track' would then appear naive' seriously. No passive-aggressive intent on my part.
Sat. 4/26/14 10:02pm Dave in PA:

"In October 1967, at the age of 18, Parsons went to work as an assistant engineer at Abbey Road Studios, where he earned his first credit on the LP Abbey Road."

You very funny Faye
Avatar    Sat. 4/26/14 10:06pm JakeGould:

I like my health. And I like my exercise. But I don’t really care too much for marathon runners.

Avatar Sat. 4/26/14 10:23pm fleep:

Just arrived, already clicky starring the Merchandise.
Avatar    Sat. 4/26/14 10:24pm JakeGould:

KK, Greta Gerwig is just not anything amazing & seems to be all based on Noah Baumbach’s relationship with her.

And that is all I will say on that.

Avatar    Sat. 4/26/14 10:29pm Ike:

I think Greta is OK. And if I were an actor, I'd probably be happy to sell my soul to CBS for a steady job. Not to mention all that syndication back-end cash. It's tough out there.
Avatar    Sat. 4/26/14 10:29pm JakeGould:

Nope, can’t stand the twee Baumbach. But will say “Squid & the Whale” does at least give a glimpse into the particular irritating existence that only Park Slop could have bred.

My deal with Greta Gerwig is I grew up with Adrienne Shelly, Parker Posey & Lili Taylor as my benchmark of indie actresses. Greta Gerwig is just boring & predictable to me.
Avatar Sat. 4/26/14 10:32pm KK:

I feel that way about our friend Lena... hey Ike!... I liked Kicking and Screaming actually... Squid and The Whale was hard to watch for exactly the reason you brought up. I wanna see Frances Ha because then I'll have seen everything. I'm not a huge fan...it just happened!

Wow. So memory. Such oldie.
Avatar Sat. 4/26/14 10:34pm Whooda:

@Fleep I grew up in a mom and pop tv repair shop. ?Having someone explain what all the lines and half-tones means greatly reduces the fear factor of the test pattern.

@PSS The good news is that there are lots of musicians going in new and novel musical directions, they seem to abandon the old 'frame' of rock and roll. I'm thinking maybe R-n-R is dead, finally.

The Internet Archive has a big pile of shows from the Armed Forces Radio Service called "Jubilee", dating from '42-'52. It was clearly intended for African-American soldiers, and maybe some other hipsters. I've been listening to it obsessively for a while.
Avatar    Sat. 4/26/14 11:10pm Gaylord Fields:

I was in my car when "Sugar Baby Love" came on, and I said to the missus, "I think Faye is the first DJ to breach the Rubettes barrier on WFMU." Good to stand corrected.

Guinea worms are parasitic worms that are ingested as larvae in infected water and a year later mature and burrow into the skin to lay eggs.

@NGH - There's a new pick-up line: "Hey, I got the new Guinea Worms. Want to come over and check it out?"
