"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 6:16am bibi:

hi all. late march was amazing, like summertime.
now it is getting seriously springtime, like 20°c in the afternoon.
but wfmu djs dont complain any more about snow, so i guess it is somehow happening down there too.
where are you sans plomb ? toronto ? vancouvre ?
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 6:18am pierre:

Bonjour John and Johnians !
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 6:20am Sem Chumbo:

@bibi:en Nouvelle-Écosse, sur la rive de l'Atlantique Nord
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 6:24am bibi:

@sem, then are you some kind of acadian ?! aka francophony's limbo ;)
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 6:34am Sem Chumbo:

@bibi: that's a pretty astute way to out it. Parts of Nova Scotia were settled in the 16th and 17th centuries by French from the old country, and bits of that antique French still exist within a weird franglais patois those very durable communities still speak ( very fast,btw.) My father and his parents were Normadaise, so being Acadian is not part of my profile.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 6:38am bibi:

thx for the info sem. and i didnt know 'astute', im pretty curious how to pronounce that (astucieux in french is a challenge too).
great punchy set this week, john !
  Wed. 4/23/14 6:40am P-90:

@bibi: "ass-toot"!
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 6:41am pierre:

yeah, i'm getting punched pretty much everywhere here
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 6:47am bibi:

thx p90, id have attempted 'ass-tewt' and john would have laughed at me again...
i was thinking to myself some ass was missing in this comment board. done.
  Wed. 4/23/14 6:53am P-90:

@bibi, it is "ass-tewt" with an English accent
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 6:55am maestroso:

Good morning John,
That W A Cooper was pretty amazing.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 7:03am Guido from Cologne:

In German the literal "Ass" means "Ace" (like in card-games).
One of the most rediculous "DEnglish"-creations (Germanized English used advertising and brand naming in order to appear "international" or hip) was created by the Cologne Public Traffic for a special "ride all day"-tariff.: Huge posters announced the arrival of the "Ass Ticket" ... as if we never had tourists of international trade-fasir visitors in Cologne! *LOL*
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 7:05am Guido from Cologne:

... respectively if Cologne Public Traffic offers donkey-riding all day ...
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 7:08am Sem Chumbo:

@Guido *LMAO*
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 7:16am Sem Chumbo:

This is all so good, John:)
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 7:36am estimo:

Great show. Perfect for painting in the sun!
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 7:37am peckinpah:

Good sounds, JA. Thanks.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 7:38am Guido from Cologne:

I'd like some painting in the sun.
But also works for coding right now.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 7:51am bibi:

@guido, i thought ass tickets were more common place in hamburg...
this drone comes right on time after youngs.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:02am Guido from Cologne:

@bibi
Hamburg? Really?
I thought only Cologne officials could be that dumb.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:07am bibi:

@guido, come on you dont see where im going ?
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:13am Guido from Cologne:

... I'm slow ...
... allright, one must know:
the first Eros Center in Germany was built in Cologne ...
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:13am Guido from Cologne:

... and unspoken capital of gay scene is also Cologne ...
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:17am bibi:

some koeln/hamburg rivalry ?!
nice how drums popped up in the hypnotic midpart of that neuringer track.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:19am Cheri Pi:

A fine morning for J'Allen & the gang.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:23am Guido from Cologne:

Hi Cheri!
Grabbed your ZIP? (my facebook-message)
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:23am common:

made it to mid-week. whew! hello everybody!
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:25am Cheri Pi:

Hi Guido! -Oh yeah I see it now-thanks so much!!!
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:25am Sem Chumbo:

Dragging an ox through water: I don't recall this as one of the 10 Ox Herding pictures...but it ought to be.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:32am Guido from Cologne:

@bibi

- About the gay scene it's a commonplace.

- The other part is history:
Prostitution- and criminality-rates used to be the biggest in Cologne till mid-70ies. The red light districts here were the very first to be "cleaned up".

Nothing to be proud about. Though retrospectively it's quite amusing that hardly any native Cologne guy became a policeman.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:50am Sem Chumbo:

@bibi the architect: an amuse-bouche. www.youtube.com...
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:54am bibi:

@sem, my partner asked that we listen to music together, so removed headphones, so if i play that vid she will get that im only half working now... please john put back hard experimental music so that she gets bored so that i put back headphones so that i can play that vid. i feel like im not too convincing.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 8:59am Sem Chumbo:

@bibi: hahaha.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 9:02am John Allen:

bibi, sorry i have failed, try again next week!
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 9:02am Guido from Cologne:

Sounds like made up from snippets of "im Frühtau zu Berge"
Thanks John and bye!
  Wed. 4/23/14 9:04am P-90:

Thx, DJ John A., great playlist
